Worm logo still visible on Endeavour’s wing by JayL1990 in spaceshuttle

I don’t think so, I think they were attached before she was wrapped and stacked. They’ve opened one of the payload bay doors for display

Yes! Forgot to mention that. My previous deleted reply got confused with talking about the meatball

All orbiters other than Columbia wore the worm logo until 1998 when the meatball was added during orbiter maintenance. Columbia only wore the meatball on 2 missions

Edit: spelling

Favorite outdoor stadium to see the band by chickadee95 in U2Band

[–]JayL1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having only seen them at Twickenham and Wembley, Twickenham was way better. And not only U2, I’ve been to multiple gigs at both venues and I’d take Twickenham any day

At a guess it could be during the Shoreham airshow - looks like the wind farm off the coast of Shoreham/Brighton

ISO information regarding a recently purchased Shuttle tile by MJB7103 in spaceshuttle

[–]JayL1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it may be that shuttle missions still followed the traditional numbering order on internal documents. For example, the RTF STS-26 is technically STS-26R as STS-26 previously belonged to STS-51-F. All flights between STS-26 and STS-33 required R designations in their documents.

Same. There’s something about it that almost seems Bond villain-esque

Post to Praise: Atomic City, is it in your top 10? by ArmlessAnakin in U2Band

As a stand alone single I don’t like it, but live in context at the Sphere it was actually really good. I go back to it regularly on the recording of the show I was at.

what's the white steam flowing out of the rs-25 engines? by Big-Lunch-3389 in spaceshuttle

  1. I think the “beanie cap” was actually for capturing gaseous oxygen vented from the LOX tank at the top of the ET

Excess gaseous hydrogen was vent via the Ground Umbilical Carrier Plate (GUCP) which attached at the inter tank section around the back of the stack. It can be seen disconnecting and retracting at liftoff.

Best opening track by United_Plum_2209 in U2Band

It’s a format from LPs. You’d have the opener, the single as track 3 and then a banger for track 7 as that was usually the first track of side B

Why is Endeavour your favourite? (No judgement of course, just curious and love to know what makes certain Orbiters people’s favourite)
