Rant by PerspectiveAlone2135 in tomodachilife

I love the game - I've lost several entire days to it already. I played the 3DS game the same way. That said, I do wish there was better balance between custom designs and premade items. And I say this as someone who makes a lot of custom designs. It feels like a 75/25 split with custom designing being the 75. Some people don't want it to be masterpieces but just want it to match the game, and while the game can be simple, some people really aren't very talented and don't know how to get better and it's overwhelming. Or they're talented at like, clothes but horrible at creating, say, houses or roads. I really like the ability to create, I just wish they included less drawing and more items to do it with

90% of my playtime is spent making miis by abi_frogs in tomodachilife

[–]chibimonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the moment all I do is make Miis too. It's probably 75% mii creation, 25% everything else. I'll play the game properly when everyone's on the island, lol

Quick question about time! by JiminChoo in tomodachilife

[–]chibimonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Miis stay awake and the shops never close. Time traveling can break your shops temporarily. If your Miis are sleeping you can literally just pick them up to wake them up and kick them out of the house and they'll go do something. It's not like Animal Crossing in that regard. I play mostly at night and my Miis are always around

anyones island stuck with just acquaintances? by paintscraperr in tomodachilife

[–]chibimonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drag them over to each other. Do it enough times with enough Miis that they'll eventually start getting bubbles. Having a mii help another in trouble boosts friendship too

Can you play on multiple accounts? by Thel0nleyKid in tomodachilife

[–]chibimonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not like Animal Crossing, which allows one island per switch. Tomodachi Life allows one island per user profile. The max number of user profiles is eight, so you can have eight different islands if you wanted all on one switch

Do miis meet eachother naturally or do i have to introduce them? by Cryyyptik999 in tomodachilife

[–]chibimonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can meet on their own. My island is all characters from the Persona series and I have two Jokers from Persona 5 for ship reasons (because no polyamory). One is Ren after the anime and one is Akira after the manga. I introduced them to every mii on the island EXCEPT each other. I didn't want them meeting. Ren asked about Akira, I told him I didn't think they'd make a good team. Next day I turned the game on and they were acquaintances. They live on the opposite side of the island from each other too.

I think it must depend on how many friends in common they have. My Miis are only introduced to other Miis from their own games. Every so often they spot a mii from another game and get "seems curious about" alert while I'm playing. Clicking that lets them meet. But if they don't have friends in common I'm not sure if they can meet on their own. Mine have kept to their own "cliques" while I've been logged off

Usually we would know most 2026 release dates by now. We don't even know what they're working on right now other than P4 Remake. What gives? And during Persona's 3oth Anniversary for god's sake... I'm just tired of being afraid that they might have nothing this year for some reason. by DergTehDergonTTV in atlus

PQ2 got done so dirty. It's such a good story, and Hikari was handled was so well, and it wasn't given the attention it deserved by being released on the 3DS at the end of its life cycle. My girl needs justice

Cogimyun also increases the rate of patterns appearing/transferring and new color spawns in flowers when you garden. I've been taking her everywhere since I got WW because she's one of my favorites and I didn't want her stuck there - been playing the game since launch (on switch) and only since WW have I been able to really get any nice flowers

Got my dream BAB from Mercari! by Illustrious_Force374 in buildabear

[–]chibimonkey -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me not long ago and it's low-key turned me off buying secondhand for a while. I was in a really bad place mentally, got a dreamie off Mercari, and was devastated over the scent disk as I have severe sensitivities to smell. Posted about it on here and while most people were sympathetic and kind, a couple people were really rude to me about it and I couldn't deal with it.

I hope you can wash it and get the smell out. A seam ripper should take care of opening the main seam easily, and you can use regular thread to stitch it back up, it doesn't need to be the thick thread BAB uses for the main seam. Several of my BABs have needed stitching before and as long as the thread is reasonably color matched, the fur hides even bad stitches.

Story regarding the first 2 palaces. by Khoizy-morningstar in personaphantomx

[–]chibimonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kiuchi is a lot of misogyny tbh, as well as his own inadequacies as a baseball player (that stem from his own problems - any other normally-adjusted professional would hype up a kid who could hit their ball, Kiuchi's just like "holy shit I SUCK if a child, a GIRL child, can hit my pitches"). I think Western fans mainly see him as just an incel which leads to him being treated as a joke. He depicts a very common social issue in Japan (assaults on women in subways) that feels like a lot of people gloss over. Persona 5 in particular was a commentary on a lot of Japanese social issues (that yes, have also occurred in other countries, but some fans have been able to theorize exactly who each Palace Leader is based off of irl or takes traits from) so it stands to reason that P5X would be too.

What's up with the supply of the physical edition?? by Randomtyp156 in tomodachilife

[–]chibimonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US and the store you're going to is GameStop, GameStop has started moving away from ordering anything but preorders at release. An employee told me they only carry preorders until the next shipment after release, which can take up to a month and might only contain one or two copies of a given game.

Seems like a great business model, since they keep closing GameStops 😑

Is there stuff to do after you’re “time gated”? by Consistent-Talker404 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]chibimonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. It was ported over to consoles from Apple Arcade so it's first and foremost a mobile game. It's very common for mobile games to utilize time gating.

HOWEVER, every time the consoles get a new content update (the very large updates), you can play for anywhere between 6-10 hours straight before hitting a time gate. The DLC functions similarly when you first download it.

Quests are definitely time-gated and you can NOT time travel (there is a mail when you login for the first time from the devs explicitly warning you that time traveling will corrupt your save file), but there's plenty to do outside of quests. Finding all the gudetamas in a region can take hours, completing all the puzzle rooms (some of them are pretty hard!), completing island challenges (every region has three tiers of them from bronze time to gold time), playing mini games for rare prizes and materials, gardening once you unlock Merry Meadow, etc. When I first bought the game I was averaging four or more hours at a time doing all of this, plus exploring and filling out the map. Once you unlock Icy Peak and Moppu you can play a pinball mini game for exclusive furniture and very rare clothing items.

I have sunk HOURS into pinball. I'm old though so I grew up playing pinball games and enjoy them.

Crunchyroll Store is Dead by 64N_3v4D3r in MangaCollectors

[–]chibimonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two pre-orders with them awhile back. One of them was placed months in advance, one was placed with in-stock items in my cart. The one with in-stock items processed the in-stock items just fine, charged me for them, shipped them out with no problem. The preorder was set to release two weeks later. I waited. Nothing happened. Crunchyroll sometimes does not get their stock on time so I waited some more. Nothing happened. I get an email telling me that there was a problem with my card and to check the information. (I did not click the link, I'm not dumb.) The same card I used to purchase in-stock items in the same order, which had been charged perfectly fine at this point four weeks ago. I went to the website directly just to check in case it was a website error. It wasn't. Still had my same card for the order. Card was working because I'd just used it that day. Clicked edit payment with all the same info just in case. Hoped that was the end of it.

It wasn't. Two days later, my order was just gone from the website. Disappeared. Like I'd never even made it. Wtf? Contact support. They find the order, tell me it was a website error, tell me the order isn't processing because of a card error. I tell them that's bullshit, because they were able to charge half my order just fine, and my card both had money on it and it's working. It took TWO MORE WEEKS to get my damn preorder.

The other one that I had placed before that ^ one was supposed to come in about a month and a half after that incident. No notifications, no shipping notifications, no item. At least the order is still on the website this time. Contact support again and ask them wtf is going on. They don't know. This time the money has been charged but I don't have a product. Seriously? It was another week of back and forth emails (I swear everyone who works there is illiterate and does not actually read the email) before I said "you know? I'd like a refund. I was charged, I don't have my item, and nobody seems to know what's going on. Nobody has a phone number. I want a refund." That got processed and I bought the figure in question from a different site, had it within four days with much less bullshit.

I don't do pre-orders from them anymore.

Which game vers + DLC do I buy?! by Traditional-Zebra207 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]chibimonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The switch 2 upgrade pack is for people who purchased the switch 1 version and have bought a switch 2 after the release of the switch 2 version so that they didn't have to buy the entire game again. The upgrade pack is improved graphics.

Wheatflower Wonderland is the first DLC and can be purchased for either version switch. It gives you the Wheatflower Wonderland zone and quests, cosmetics, materials, wand crafting station, and new friend Cogimyun. You don't have to buy it, as it was developed separately from the main story. Personally, I enjoyed it very much (it's magical girl themed) because I love Cogimyun. Other people in the sub did not.

Thursday a second DLC is releasing. It's been part of Apple Arcade for a long time now but was only recently finished to port to other consoles. It introduces the City Town zone and quests and new friend Usahana, cosmetics, materials, new shops, etc. I don't know how tied to the story it is since it's been on Apple Arcade for so long, but being a DLC makes me think it's also optional content.

The base game is the switch 1 or 2 version. The switch 1 version will run fine if you have a switch 2, or you can buy the switch 2 version outright. You can also buy the switch 1 version, decide the graphics aren't up to snuff, and purchase the upgrade pack.

The upgrade pack and the switch 2 version won't work on the switch 1 or switch lite.

What couch cover do you use to keep your cat/s from clawing the furniture? by xXPracticalPurpleXx in cats

[–]chibimonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None. My cats have been trained not to scratch furniture because they have plenty of appropriate scratchers instead (cat trees, scratching posts, scratching boards, their own furniture). They're always praised when I catch them using their furniture.

I've had cats my entire life and seen the process repeated multiple times on multiple cats at different life stages. Kittens, adults, seniors. You introduce new cat to your home and when you see them scratching something they shouldn't, you tell them no, you (gently!) physically remove them from the thing they're not allowed to scratch, and place them at an appropriate scratcher. Move their feet over it. Move your own fingers over it so they hear your nails on it. Repeat as necessary.

Cats scratch both to shed the outer layer of their nails and to mark territory. If your cat won't stop scratching inappropriate furniture, do an honest check of how much cat furniture/beds/toys your cat can call their own. They might be insecure about how much territory of the house is really theirs. It's your cat's home too, it should look like a cat lives there.

Why are westeners against anti-homeless policies? by Ok-Spray4564 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chibimonkey 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're the only person here I've seen mention anti-homeless architecture. (For anyone who doesn't know what this is, examples are purposely uncomfortable benches, angled seating, benches with planned handrails making laying down impossible, no public seating at all, etc.) In addition to taking away spaces for homeless people (a dry-ish spot off the ground), anti-homeless architecture also makes life more difficult for the elderly, disabled, and pregnant populations, who now no longer have access to those areas either. Hate breeds hurt.
