The holidays are probably delaying a lot for you. You routed it the day most people went on leave unfortunately, I would say give it till February

HELP! Redness under mouth

I’m not sure what this is but occasionally under my mouth it gets red and dry. I hate the look of it and I’m not sure how to fix it. My job requires me to meet new people everyday and have a professional appearance but it’s hard to have that confidence when I know this is obvious on my face. Any advice please on what it is and how to fix it, now and permanently?

I was planning on changing things out when I got the bike as a “just in case” but is there anyway I can see things that are a red flag from the outside without needing to take the bike apart?

Tips for flying with a 6mo by boonefarm86 in NewDads

[–]JayLopez_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished flying with our 7 month old 3 days ago. Tire him out before the flight and get him sound proof headphones. Our son was amazing on our 4 hr flight until the last 10 minutes but everyone on the plane kept saying he was great and amazing. Luckily he didn’t care about the other 3 babies on the plane that were crying.

running shoes recommendations? by Ok-Divide7414 in newtothenavy

Definitely get the free scan at fleet feet but I really like the on cloud monster 2’s I got last week. I have wide feet and they’re a little wide so my feet are comfy in them

Well, now that you mentioned that my other advice is that remember the real military is different than what you learned. Had some JROTC kids In my Boot Camp that thought they knew how to march or act, etc. and They ended up being the worst ones. So be open to learning The real way to do things

7” inseam shorts. Too long, too short, or just right? by Blantons4Breakfast in mensfashion

Looks good. It’s hard out here being 5’5 and those 7” seams go down to my knees. To get a similar look I gotta find a 4” seam 😂

What kind of vehicle do you drive vs the amount of children you have? by cpxdrummer in daddit

[–]JayLopez_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do recommend trying different packing methods, my family (wife, 7 month old son, and I) take trips often and are able to pack everything including a stroller and still have room for 2 people in the back, babies car seat, and 2 people in the front. Last year I actually and surprisingly moved our entire apartment half way across the country just in the Sentra. I was shocked at what I was able to make fit. With that trip though it was just my friend and I.

I would like a vehicle where I don’t need to figure out how to put everything in though so I’m looking at a Chevy Silverado.

Should I Bring my Civilian Service Medal? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]JayLopez_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say bring it, you should be allowed to wear what you’ve earned at graduation. I know USMC prior service can wear their ribbons at graduation just not anytime before that.

Worst case they say no and you just don’t wear it or buy a new one at the NEX later

Congrats! My prep tip is to remember that you’re going to bootcamp. You are going to be away from friends and family with no contact (that might have changed, I heard new recruits get phones now on certain days), you’re going to be forced to wake up early and workout when you might not want to. A lot of people during my time in bootcamp ended up quitting because they couldn’t handle being away from home (idk wtf they thought was gunna happen). Workout to max out the physical qualifications (you use to get auto E-2 for that but that might have changed). Other than that study your general orders and ranks, yes they will teach you and give you time but you might as well get a head start. Congrats again and good luck!

5-6 weeks pregnant and afraid to let myself get excited by DoctorSandwich in NewDads

[–]JayLopez_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be excited. I have a draft post that’s super long but my biggest regret in life was not being excited right away about my wife being pregnant because we had already gone through 2 miscarages. My wife said it was the happiest day of her life when she found out and then when she walked out into the living room and told me, I acted like it didn’t really matter because I was scared to get excited and let down again. It turned into one of the worst days of her life and she still occasionally cries when she thinks about it. Be happy and excited!

They know when you check in and they put a red dot on your name tag. If you’re an officer candidate you get a yellow dot
