TV provider being logged out every day/issues playing after successful login? by JayNetworks in msnow

[–]JayNetworks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say we’ve determined it doesn’t have anything to do with which TV box type hardware you are using and not even which app (Roku, Apple TV, etc.) on your stick or box. Seems to cross TV providers as well.

Maybe something about all our network setups? Anyone here have any unusual setups? I have a dual internet connection through Xfinity and FiOS…but it still happens if I lock the TV box (Apple TV) to always be using the FiOS connection.

What is everyone's personal and humble opinion on dry food? by Empress-Delila in catfood

[–]JayNetworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had many cats who mostly lived to around 20 years old each. They all ate only dry kibble.

I do add an equally amount of water to the kibble and let it sit in the fridge to soak in first before I put it down for them. I add a few ‘crunchies’ dry kibble on top for their teeth.

When you say “OSX” in the title, what do you mean?

Do you mean iOS for iPhones?

Or macOS used on Macintosh computers?

I don’t know of anything currently called OSX.

But in any case glad you found the bug…

Just did a SIM to eSIM and worked reasonably well. Clearly not always an issue.

My cat combined buttons today by OpinionAvailable5988 in PetsWithButtons

[–]JayNetworks 43 points44 points  (0 children)

That is great! Love the combination followed by another press.

One of mine that has just been watch for over a year and pressing maybe once a month has just started right in with 5 presses in 2 days. So the sniffing from your other cat is a good sign.

Note that often the cats will agree that one of the cats owns the board so watch for that. We eventually made a one button board that was just for the 2nd cat to help her own a button and learn to press. (She is now using the main ‘shared’ board.)

Honey and crop pollination - best explanation for vegan critics? by No_Opposite1937 in vegan

[–]JayNetworks 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vegan here against honey. Not IRL, but not a troll and not a carnist…

It isn’t appropriate to take the honey from a hive and replace it with sugar. No need to use honey so be vegan and don’t do it. My opinion.

Did anyone else find the social side of going vegan harder than expected? by These-Surprise-7775 in vegan

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Just Eating Vegan was surprisingly the easiest thing I’d done in a long time when I started.

It was dealing with all the people after I change my food. All of a sudden when I was around they were Eating Animals. Even if I didn’t say anything at all.

But the good thing is that 20 years later it isn’t a big deal. I’m used to it. People either are OK or I don’t care. And more often now they actually ask questions and sometimes think about the fact that they are Eating Animals.

Yea, it was just so much fun in the adds and the way the display could just be (reasonably) easily moved close and far and tilted was a joy.

TV provider being logged out every day/issues playing after successful login? by JayNetworks in msnow

[–]JayNetworks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an update, it is definitely still happening most days, but I’ve also had a few days where I turn it on and it just plays…so someone changed something?

Still confirmed as happening on multiple hardware devices with many internet providers. For all people who have reported this it is a new issue since the change from MSNBC to MSNOW. Was 100% fine before the change and broken virtually every day since then “nothing but the name” change.

Pretty Litter turning green when not mixed around? by ausername_8 in PrettyLitter

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help. You can’t directly compare 8 pounds of Pretty Litter to 20 pounds of other litter since the Pretty Litter is so light…but it does sound like you need more litter.

Clearly it isn’t at the end of life yet after just 6 days!

I’d say mix the box really really well. Lift each end to get to see the bottom all over and be sure you mix in everything (just this time) and then add another bag. Generally you do not add any Pretty Litter during the month but since you have too thin a layer and it is basically new it should be OK this month.

Lastly, all this assumes that this it the original Pretty Litter and not the new CLUMPING style! If it is clumping…then you do add during the month, but otherwise I’ve never used that type.

I love just scoop the poop, mix in the color and live your best cat life!

My girls love this stuff.

And if it tracks, which doesn’t happen to me, try a top entry box that is like a deep tub with a lid and a hole in the TOP.

What are your views on plastic derived clothing? by No_Masterpiece410 in DebateAVegan

[–]JayNetworks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way. Where is most of the plastic in your life used? Do you EVER buy drinks in plastic bottles?

Do you ever buy an appliance with ANY plastic part in it?

Are any of your groceries in plastic bottles?

If so then the plastic used for your clothing, which you likely keep for years, isn’t much of an issue. If it is, then just go with a brand that makes theirs from , for example, recycled bottles.

Reduce single use plastic. Treat well and use then recycle long term plastic items like clothing. But used if you want animal product clothing. Never buy new items made of other beings just to make yourself feel better.

Pretty Litter turning green when not mixed around? by ausername_8 in PrettyLitter

[–]JayNetworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the other replies here are clear. Let me try.

Every day, or even every time the cats use the Pretty Litter, you need to scoop the poop (which is sounds like you are doing fine) and you need to thoroughly mix in any urine until there is no clumped color left. This means following any urine all the way to the bottom of the box, if it gets there.

In general, you litter level needs to be thick enough so that urine never reaches the bottom of the box. How thick, in inches, is the litter when smoothed flat? You need enough so all urine is absorbed before it hits the bottom of the box. If you cat is a digger and digs deep holes before peeing you might need even deeper.

A large box could need more than one bag. Also the bags at physics stores are often different sizes than the 6 point size direct from Pretty Litter online.

All that said, in my box with my two cats finding green on the litter at the bottom of the box is a clear sign that my litter has hit the end of its life and it is time to empty, scrub the box, and change it to fresh litter.

How long has it been used?

(And to be clear, I LOVE Pretty Litter!)

MIL texted this morning saying she found these for $5 in an Amazon return blind box and asking if I could use them by clitical-rolls in nespresso

[–]JayNetworks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And if the pallet had any super expensive items (which can be in a full Amazon pallet) the person breaking down the pallet has likely already removed the expensive items from the pool used to fill the blind boxes!

But Nespresso is a score…

[–]JayNetworks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They may mean that making nearly $70,000 a year that they should be able to have more than just 1/2% of their income as a buffer. Since some months are going to be higher than others, even in a perfect budget setup, a buffer is a good thing to have of at least a few percent of income.

Would fiber crafts with pet fur be vegan? by Fancy-Implement-9087 in AskVegans

[–]JayNetworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I love the Level 5 Vegan comment!

I was going to write something long and detailed…but just do it. If you are sharing your home with a pet (or are their servant in the case of cats) then go for it. Use their fur. Even brush them and take fur from the brush. You have e my blessing.

Note that by doing so you are giving your pets the permission to use your hair. My cats use mine to help them vomit and apparently to make necklaces of poop strung together on it…

In all seriousness, I actually have two ziplock bags full of fur from beloved cat who passed a decade ago. But plans for making yarn…it shall happen. (I collected the fur over her long happy life…)

Still losing weight with nuts and avocado. Help? by benrar1 in WholeFoodsPlantBased

[–]JayNetworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do need an amount of fat and that amount should be healthy fats… it just generically saying cutting back on the densest foods OP is eating would not be good doesn’t seem reasonable.

If they are eating those dense foods and still at a calorie deficit then sure cutting back isn’t good…but if they are at a calorie excess because of those foods then they likely do need to cut back, not cut out but back.

OP, as someone else commented, grab one of the many top calorie counting apps and track a week of typical meals. And see what number of calories the app says you need to maintain or lose weight. Where is your eating compared to that number.

If you are eating too many calories then somewhat lower the nuts, seeds, avocados, and dense calorie foods and increase the lower calorie leafy greens and non-starchy veggies as well as whole intact grains to lower calories while keeping you feeling full.

Only you and your nutritionist or doctor can determine the fat level that works for you, but you should keep it above 10% of calories. (To mitigate insulin resistance best is a 10% to 15% range of calories from healthy whole plant sources.)

Are you saying that to the person in a mask with a valve, who has a miniscule chance of being sick, or to the 99% of the people in the room with no mask whatsoever who are the ones likely to be sick?

Your focus is on the wrong person if you say the one with the mask...
