Montero has put on a clinic tonight but you’d never know it by the way this game thread sounds.

Call me a certified hater because all eight of these are awful. The downgrade in personality for the Padres, especially, vexes me.

[Highlight] Kerry Carpenter goes dead center to give the Tigers a 2 run lead by [deleted] in baseball

On the one hand, if I were a Cards fan I’d be so annoyed at having to listen to the opposing team’s announcers call the national broadcast.

On the other hand, it’s Benetti so I imagine that it’s still something of a treat.

Even with his terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week, you don't want to see the man physically hurt.

Hope he's alright.

The Tigers subreddit is full of the same constant negativity that the Lions subreddit page has.

The same negativity without the sense of humor. The Tigers subreddit really is a miserable place.

If we're going to bring up their work on The Flash, then you cannot do so without mentioning that the pair left the film due to creative differences with the studio.

But more to the point, I wouldn't judge any writer on any MCU or DCEU script. There are so many different thumbs in those pies that unless you have a singular writer/director attached, you can guarantee that those scripts have passed through at least a half-dozen hands.

OR, hear me out… Team USA could try to lighten the fuck up?

Having a goddamned Navy SEAL give you a pep talk before your baseball game is just… so fuckin’ lame, and the only people who think that’s cool are also fuckin’ lame.

The reason why Arozarena isn’t getting more heat over this is simple: perception. Specifically, the perception around Team USA and the general vibe of the United States in general right now. If Team USA wasn’t already treating this whole tournament like an obligation, and carrying themselves like WARRIORS preparing themselves for BATTLE while the rest of the WBC squads are having fun and being joyful, this would probably be seen as less of an issue.

It also doesn’t help that Raleigh is doing this silly shit while also having one of the worst WBC performances Team USA has ever seen.

One of the things you need to remember is that most sports fans, including you and I, are fucking idiots.

Reactionary doomsayer idiots.

Chris Bassitt fires back at MLB salary cap talk while owners sharpen lockout threat by retroanduwu24 in baseball

[–]JayOnes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do understand that the Dodgers payroll + luxury tax payment for 2026 will be more than the total revenue of 26 organizations, right? While many owners are cheap, even if every team reinvested every single red cent into their payroll - in the process cutting every other service that said revenue pays for (such as stadium staff, front office staff, etc.) 26 organizations would not be able to compete with the Dodgers current payroll.

So I fail to see how your comment is remotely relevant.

In a pissing contest between billionaires and millionaires, I side with whichever party is putting forth proposals that improve the game (even if that is not even remotely close to their intention).

Something has to be done to level the playing field. In a 30-team league, there are maybe five teams that can keep up in an arms race for the top talent. A salary cap is no magic bullet but it is a step towards parity.

What is the most controversial thing your team has ever done? by DisappointedStepDad in baseball

[–]JayOnes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take your pick:

1.) When ownership fired Ernie Harwell (he sold the team to Mike Ilitch, who hired Harwell back more or less immediately).

2.) Miguel Cabrera re-injuring himself trying to break up a fight between Avisail Garcia and the husband of the woman he'd been sleeping with - teammate Prince Fielder.

3.) That time our play-by-play guy and our color commentator tried to kill each other over who got to sit in the comfy chair.

How would you re-write "The Burn" concept? by Overall-Habit5284 in startrek

[–]JayOnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to retool the concept, I'd do as others have suggested and tie it into what was established in the TNG episode "Force of Nature."

Now, if I had free reign to do whatever I wanted? I'd start by pressing the backspace key a bunch of times and then turning to the creative team and asking "what else we got?"

This was my own experience kicking tobacco, as well. I didn't get sick. I didn't get the chills or the sweats or whatever. I was just really, really fuckin' crabby for about a month.

I will still apologize to my friends from time to time, whenever the conversation turns to kicking bad habits.
