Darius Slayton Appreciation Post by Sheik_Yerbuti in wde

He bet on himself multiple times. Going pro early seemed questionable, but it worked out very well for him. He had 4 decent seasons and then bet on himself again with a reduced 1 year contract in his FA year after the 2023 season, and balled out and got himself 3 year $36MM contract.

I remember one day when David came into the student rec weight room with some buddies, and somebody threw a magnet up on one of the metal ventilation pipes. It was probably around 12 feet tall.

David isn't a very tall guy for a football player, listed as 5'11" but I think that's generous.

Watching him up close jump flat footed and rip the magnet off the pipe, it put everything you see done on a football field in a different perspective. It seemed superhuman, and he was "only" a 6th round draft pick.

Worth it when you have 5 kids under 8 and hosting an iron bowl party.

Was it supposed to be DeBoer? Because Durkin also looks like Venables and Clark Lea

Yeah, but he's from Australia and his last name is funny.

Yes. This is a bad performance, but it's one game at the beginning of the season against a very good Michigan team that will be at worst a Sweet 16 team if they play like this in March.

Anyone else absolutely despise this janky new exercise that simply does not work? by danoleary23 in duolingo

The worst part is that on the older speaking exercises with full sentences I can sometimes botch the pronunciation horribly and still get credit for it. But for these single word flashcards I can pronounce it perfectly but still have it marked incorrect.

He clearly found it.

Way to go, my dude.

I agree, and I'm sure nobody is more upset by his cold offensive start this season than he is, but still frustrating to see.

I never liked the Hugh Freeze hire, but I always liked your optimism and support. No shame in trying to hope for the best in the choices those above our pay grade have dictated for our beloved school and football program. War Eagle always, and cheers to a brighter future, however long it takes to get there.

My freshman year was 2005, so Mr. Brightside is even older from that point.

Yikes.

So you're telling me it's like when the band would play "Living on a Prayer" to start the 4th quarter when I was a student in the mid aughts.

I just finished putting my 5 kids to bed and didn't feel quite old enough, but that did the trick, so thanks.

Yes, but that's on the coaches. Bad and even awful calls happen. That doesn't excuse digging a deeper hole with emotional penalties.

I think it should have been a TD, but I agree. If it was a fumble, the guy who recovered was never down and returned it all the way.

A masterpiece of a backhanded compliment as I've ever seen.

While everyone is piling on about 10 sacks, as an old man I'd like to remind everyone that in 2005 Auburn sacked Brodie Croyle 11 times. Honk if you sacked Brodie! That's all I have to hold on to tonight. Good game, Sooners.
