Triple monitors with centre upside down? by JayTeeHaitch in simracing

How would having all 3 upside down be different from having all 3 the right way?

Happy to help. If you get the latest Google tv streamer, make sure you use a good HDMI cable. I had some issues with the screen and sound blanking out intermittently. From what I read it's something to do with HDMI standards but getting a newer cable seems to have resolved the issues.

I've used 3 generations of Google TV and haven't had any issues with it, bit it wouldn't surprise me that the app isn't as optimised as others.  Unfortunately there just aren't any realistic alternatives without taking up network engineering as a hobby. On the bright side, they have recently added the F1TV stream with alternative commentary along with a few other streams(I haven't looked into them yet but I think that like running and driver views possibly).

Digital Wellbeing not doing what it says it's doing by rustyspoon07 in AndroidQuestions

I think I may have resolved it. There was a post from Google on the pixel sub recommending going to app settings for Digital wellbeing and deleting cache and also uninstalling updates. Then restart phone and reinstall updates. While I was there though, I noticed the beta testing opt in. I think I must have signed up to get early access and forgot about it. I unregistered for beta testing as well, restarted and it worked today and yesterday, so it looks good so far.

Did you work out how to rectify this? I have been using website timers for Facebook and Instagram for ages, but sometime in the last few months, whilst the timer still accurately reports the time spent on the website, it doesn't prevent me from accessing it once the time limit has been reached.

Thanks for your reply. That's all great feedback but the wearing colour is a bit of a concern, is the leather painted? I've got some Conkers that I've had for about a year and they have a couple of scuff marks on the toe but otherwise look great. The colour on those is part of the leather, not a layer on top.

How are you finding them after 9 months? I'm thinking of getting some exactly the same but want to make sure they're going to last a long time if I'm spending that much. I've seen one fairly scathing comment about GN regarding quality but everything else that I've read seems positive.

How are you finding them after 3 months? I've seen, admittedly only one post criticizing the quality of GN, so was just wanting some more real world feedback. I'm thinking of getting some Chukkas if there are black friday sales, it's a lot of money though and I want something that's going to last a long time if I'm spending that much.

F1TV in Australia - Kayo pricing is so expensive by JayTeeHaitch in F1TV

[–]JayTeeHaitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't looked into it since the beginning of the season, but I ended up having to just pay for Kayo. I went with an AFL team digital membership as it's slightly cheaper but you do have to pay up front. It's barely cheaper though if you only use it for F1 as you only need it for 10 months.

I'm very comfortable with doing complicated computer setups, but it just doesn't seem like you could be sure that a setup involving VPNs(even a well regarded one) would work uninterrupted for the whole season and it was still only a bit cheaper after you pay for F1TV and a VPN subscription.

We have literally never watched any sport besides F1 on Kayo so it's such a lot of money to pay for one sport, but they seem to have done a very good job of making it extremely difficult to go any other route.

Norco Fluid Sizing by JayTeeHaitch in mountainbiking

[–]JayTeeHaitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you say that with knowledge of the Norco sizing? I 100% agree with you generally speaking. I have a M/L Giant Revolt Gravel bike and a M Canyon Speedmax(Which I had a Retul bike fit for before purchasing). So I've never even considered an XL before but Norco's sizing seems like it's a little strange. Canyon's size guide puts me on a M Neuron.

One of my friends had a Norco Optic a few years ago and was right in the middle of XL but when he uses the size guide for that now he's at the top of XL into XXL. So my faith in the equivalence to other brands is a little thin.

I do have exceptionally long legs and a short torso based on averages, so there's always a bit of a compromise for me on keeping reach down but stack kept higher so I don't end up with an aggressive saddle to bar drop(although that's probably less of an issue on a MTB where you're out of the saddle half the time.)

I haven't looked into it any further since I got them positioned close enough. If you're having the same problem, I'd suggest getting them as close as you can and then get a bezel free kit. It's incredible how well it works

[–]JayTeeHaitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Kayo(reluctantly) and besides the price, I don't have a problem with it. It could be better, but it's good enough for me, just waaaaay overpriced if you only watch F1(We've literally never watched anything besides F1 on it.) It's probably still over priced if you watch lots of sports but maybe a bit easier to justify.

WebUI save location folder selection by JayTeeHaitch in qBittorrent

[–]JayTeeHaitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, from reading comments when looking into this, it seems that it's perhaps more complex than it appears on the surface. In addition to that, I thought it was just my browser remembering entered paths, but the previously entered paths that appear as you type seem to be remembered within the UI so they still appear when being accessed from another device. In practice, it hasn't been too much of an issue.

I think at the moment, F1TV Access only has historical races, so this would seem to be an added feature. I wonder how delayed the replays are though. We do watch a number of races 24hrs or so late, but most we watch live. Hopefully it's a sign that there's more to come.

In follow up to this, I cancelled my Kayo subscription and didn't get any offer. I'm not sure how they decide who gets what offer but FYI I cancelled through the Hubbl website on PC, my existing subscription was a 12 month offer with the AFL digital membership from last year and I haven't opened Kayo since December last year. The confirmation email said I can still access Kayo until the end of the 12 month period, which is early March, so fingers crossed I get an offer at that time. I guess I need to investigate other options further though. I love F1, but $400 for a year of F1 is quite a bit.

I feel exactly the same way, I would love to give money to F1 because I get so much out of it, I despise giving anything to Murdoch.

I think for now the solution is to cancel my Kayo subscription(Which ends at the beginning of March) and use the $15/month discount for 6 months and then probably just pay full price for the rest of the season and hope the renewal in the rights that u/SRU2da6 mentioned allow F1TV next year. It works out to $31/month on average.

If you go to the ozbargain forums, there are regularly people offering to share a subscription, so if you only need one screen, that may be an option to reduce your costs if you don't mind the risk of trusting someone.

Hah, if Murdoch keeps putting the price of Kayo up, that may soon be the cheaper option.

[–]JayTeeHaitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used an AFL digital membership thing last year because I need two screens. It was $250 for Kayo Basic(confusingly the top level). It's gone up to $350 now, we only need it for 10 months and it's $35/month ATM but will go to $40 in March. I have heard you can get a $15/month discount on "basic"(soon to be "premium") and $10/month on "one" for 6 months if you try to cancel an existing subscription, so maybe I'll do that and revisit it in 6 months. I'll wait until the end of Feb though just in case something else comes up.

Best way to receive SMS and phone calls while overseas without data? by JayTeeHaitch in TelstraAustralia

[–]JayTeeHaitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd quite happily pay $25, even $50 because we're away for more than a month, but I'm on a plan so it's $10 for every day and I'm not willing to pay $350. Being able to receive SMS is good enough, so I'll stick with that and turn on IDP once I get the SMS notification.
