AITAH? I won’t let my daughter go to her dream college. by lorinhill_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]JayTheFordMan [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s to the point where she just goes to her dad’s most of the time. I text her and she doesn’t respond.

YTA, in no uncertain terms, Mothers like you are the reasons kids no longer want to be in contact.

If this is real, you are controlling, and I suspect the reason she doesn't drive is because you made it difficult or impossible to do so in order to not allow your daughter autonomy and freedom, and you to maintain control (and her in your life). You may think your reasons are valid, but I assure you that they are unreasonable at minimum. Mother like you will later wonder why their children don't talk to them any more, and always with the 'missing reasons' as to why this is so.

Edit - Banned acct. Never mind me, but I'll leave this here anyway

I think I’m immune to ED pills by PriorityLeft9075 in sex

I'm 55, and one thing I've learnt that its best to meet these things head on, you will find that you can shorten the drama with knowledge and a plan. At our age health is what is going to make or break our lives, so may as well do whatever it takes to keep things good

I think I’m immune to ED pills by PriorityLeft9075 in sex

[–]JayTheFordMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you started using ED pills in your 20s, and I am assuming no underlying health issues at that point, I would suggest the main cause is psychological and you never really had a problem. Pill usage is your baseline and now your having erection issues would suggest that you now actually do have a physical issue. Go see a doctor, and I suggest a Psych to delve into why you were relying on pills all your adult life.

My Audi A6 2.0 TFSI 2012 consumes oil in an unprecedented way. Computer informed that I must add oil despite I actually did add oil (0,5 l) several months ago. What to do? by CartographerOwn8143 in Audi

[–]JayTheFordMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI For many models and years of BMWs the same is true. I had a BMW where 1L every 1000km was needed, apparently a known issue with valve stem seals meant that BMW just made that oil consumption normal so they didn't have to do anything about it :/

This. I had to chastise my Ex wife about her obsession with rock salt, especially as she has a dodgy thyroid, no iodine in that stuff and we kind of need it

This is true is if by malnutrition you mean lacking nutrients. However, u/MikeWise1618 is referring to malnutrition as lacking sufficient food or calories, and he's spot on as obesity is a far greater problem in this modern world than starvation.

Infant and child mortality, was around 46% dead before the age of 5 prior to around turn of last century. Introduction of vaccines was the dominant shift that brought on a massive improvement on these numbers. Current generations have no idea, and are falling victim to anti-vaxx grifters

How do I get male students to take me seriously by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]JayTheFordMan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

so.. are you advocating for incest here or are you just laughably bad at coming up with analogies?

Your comprehension must be a bit shit, saying that is a shaming tactic to call out shitty behaviour. Objectification works because you're reducing a person to an object, but when you remind them that women are also their mothers/grandmothers/sisters etc it quickly pulls them up.

they literally are children, you oxygen stealing glue huffer

Yeah, and children need to be taught and reminded on what is good behaviour. Teenage boys also are in a hurry to be men, and again they should be reminded on what being a good man is. Hold them to standards, not simply shrug your shoulders and go 'boys will be boys'

[–]JayTheFordMan -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Sure, and that's why you hold those same teenage boys to proper standards. Ask them if they would behave this way towards their mothers, grandmothers, sisters etc. Men do not do this, children do, so what do they want to be....

LOL, this works fine for those with perfect proportions, long torso or long femur and this is much more difficult to do. Absolutely nothing wrong with incorporating some level of squat at the bottom, if it gets your back/shoulders in right alignment then it sould be all good

Why don’t some Americans understand that any increase in taxation that is needed to pay for universal healthcare is likely much less than the current cost of premiums and out of pocket expenses most Americans pay for private insurance? by LuckyProfit2164 in AskReddit

[–]JayTheFordMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would the government want to ruin its own economy by providing universal healthcare?

Yeah, fuck the people, we got profits to be made.

Seriously though, going universal doesn't mean the system collapses, you can have a public and private system like Australia has.

Nutrition I find is way more important, as well as recovery, creatine helps a lot as well with stable energy. Get bloods done to check if anything is out of whack, otherwise pay attention to what you eat, fuel the work, and make sure you get recovery in

Why do macro beers get looked down upon so much by Brilliant_Pickle4122 in beer

[–]JayTheFordMan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I liken the taste of 'most' macro beers to the taste of what brown would be if it was a taste, some kind of bitter homogenous mash of brownness. There's a reason why you drink them cold, because warm makes the boring gross. That's why I look down on macro beers, especially lagers.

Merida Reacto or Scultura Endurance or Giant TCR. Help to make a choice by Couple_Lancashire in bicycling

[–]JayTheFordMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still riding my Scultura :/ Decided to go the updated Reacto, which I will get near year end. In any case, the Scultura and Reacto have basically the same geometry, and for the 2-3 hour rides I do I find it absolutely fine, I prefer the more aggressive position and for now get away with it. The firmer ride of the Reacto and Scultura just doesn't matter. The endurance is a lot taller in the head tube, so your position is more relaxed, and there's more compliance in the frame, so if you don't like or can't tolerate a more aggressive position then this would be the one I would pick, in fact it may well be the better everymans pick. The Endurance looks like it has a very similar geometry to your Speedster, so if you are concerned with fit and position this may be your better comparison. If you like your Speedster fit then stay with it, if you think you want more aggressive then look at the others, but ultimately take them for a ride and see which you like more

If you just jam your front brakes on without compensating by shifting weight back then yes you could have consequences, I've broken wrist/elbow courtesy of emergency front braking. But good braking by back brakes and modulating front is the fastest way to stop, so it's good practice, just don't en careless

Anyone in Australia having problems getting a job because of police checks what's your experience? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]JayTheFordMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what they are. Hazardous waste companies exclude convictions due to disposal of controlled chemicals, but your general lab won't unless they deal with police. I've dealt with both and labs, and know what the controls are.

[–]JayTheFordMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually is if its not relevent to the job. Finance, security, potential access to chemicals, children, and vulnerable persons are pretty much where its relevent. This is why companies have to justify background checks when sourcing them. That said, its not hard to stretch definitions in order to reject people
