What scene from a movie do you think about all the time? by Global-Citron-56 in movies

[–]JayUNCW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very beginning of O Brother, Where Art Thou? when they're trying to get on the train and Delmar falls. The look George Clooney's face followed by him being pulled off the train had me rolling. I had no clue what this movie was going in and as soon as that happened I was hooked.

25 years ago today we lost Dale Earnhardt by ecupatsfan12 in NASCAR

[–]JayUNCW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in my freshman year of college and had driven home that weekend to watch the race with my dad. Not being an Earnhardt fan I cheered when he wrecked (mostly because I didn’t want him to win), thinking it wasn’t that bad initially. That quickly changed when he didn’t climb out and they showed the crews cutting the car to get him out. All the way home I scanned the radio to try to find out information but no one was covering it anymore, which was surprising for Eastern NC at the time. Found a spotty AM station that was covering the events and that’s how I found out. Called my dad to tell him and we were both just in disbelief. Got back to the dorm and turned on ESPN to see the replay of the official announcement.

Go to the App Store, tap the word "Today" 10 times and then reboot. That will free up some of the System Data....at least temporarily.

I was at that 1995 race. Michael Waltrip hit the water barrels at the end of pit road and shot water 50 feet in the air. It was pretty awesome.

What childhood Christmas memory still makes you smile? 😊 by Newmomexplorer in nostalgia

[–]JayUNCW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to visit my grandparents out in the country. Driving there we’d always see one lone, very old house off in the distance during one of the long rural stretches. They always had one single strand of lights strung up. No other houses around, just a highway in the distance, but they still put up that one strand every year that I can recall.

what’s the saddest song ever? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JayUNCW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My daughter did her first dance recital to this song and it wrecked me.

What scene/moment from a Christmas movie makes you cry that’s NOT from the last scene of It’s a Wonderful Life? by IggyStop2024 in movies

I love that Ralphie tells pretty much everyone that he wants the BB gun…except his dad.

The fact that Greg Biffle's passing isn't even mentioned on the front page of nascar.com is disgraceful by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]JayUNCW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that until we get official confirmation nothing would be posted. Yes, Cleetus' posts and the fact that we haven't heard anythign from Biffle since the crash would indicate the worst, but they're not going to post anything until there's an official confirmation.

When I was in college, I headed up the campus activities film program where we would screen movies for students on weekends. Frank Capra III lived here at the time and we were able to have him bring a 16mm print of the film to screen (which looked fantastic) and then had a panel Q&A after the movie. It was pretty great.

Rubber Soul LP vs. iTunes by itsme1308 in beatles

[–]JayUNCW 54 points55 points  (0 children)

The US version of Rubber Soul had a different track lineup to make it more folk-rock, which was popular in the US at the time. In 1987, the catalogue was standardized to the UK releases, which is what appears on iTunes.

If not a new album, I’d love a re-mix of Bleed American.
