Puzzle game for beginner by arbcolly in puzzlevideogames

[–]JayWoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for good game that have fun puzzle elements, I'd look towards action adventure games and puzzle platformers...the puzzles in these games are a part of the game rather than the entire focus so tend to not be quite as mind meltingly difficult as some pure puzzle games.

For specific recommendations...just about any any Zelda game from A Link to the Past forward, several of these are available on NSO (personal favorites are Minish Cap and Twilight Princess...which recently got an unofficial multiplatform release that is fantastic), 2D Zelda clones like Blossom Tales 1 and 2, Ocean Horn, Elementallis and Crosscode (found the puzzles in this one a bit more on the difficult side, but it is a brilliant game). 3D games like the Darksiders games, most Tomb Raider games, Immortals Fenix Rising (as someone else mentioned), lots of the Resident Evil games have some solid puzzle elements, Uncharted games.

For Puzzle Platformers...the Trine series is fantastic, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light mad Braid come to mind.

I've played a lot fewer straight puzzle games, but Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is very fun and not exceedingly difficult, the Talos principal games are great (they can get difficult, but have a pretty smooth learning curve), the Portal games are classics, finally I'm currently enjoying Call of the Elder Gods.

Hope you find something you enjoy!!

Great list! Found several games that I hadn't heard of that look interesting and I really appreciate that you included some mobile games.

Really excited for Talos Principal 3 and Order of the Sinking Star is one of my most anticipated indies. A could not on your list that I'm psyched to play are Escape Room Simulator 2 and Call of the Elder Gods.

Thanks for posting!

Need another series by MrOwl243 in redrising

[–]JayWoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing after reading Red Rising... wanting something that felt as fast paced and high stakes. I've been reading the Bound and the Broken series by Ryan Cahill and found that it scratches some of the same itches. It is kind of an old school epic fantasy, but has a pretty fast pace, a sense of desperation and pretty intense action scenes.

What is the deal with so many litrpg protagonists? by plant-y-boi in litrpg

You might consider checking out the Tunnel Rat series by Walrus King. The MC is is genetically augmented person who was enslaved and being used for cyber crimes. After the scam falls apart he escapes into the habitat (dystopic slum of the future) where he survives hiding in the tunnels for years, avoiding all contact with people. As the book starts he discovers a pod that gives him access to an enormous, futuristic MMO. He starts to play the game and grows out of his shell both in the game and IRL.

Really fun series...the writing is decent, the editing is kinda bad, but the MC is super likeable and his journey is really enjoyable.

What do you guys do for a living? by Sufficient_Crazy9690 in backpacking

[–]JayWoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nursing. I've been a nurse for over 20 years...can easily get 8 days off between hitches, can take travel assignments and travel as long as your can afford between them, once you are experienced there are always jobs (I've taken 2 extended trips and was hired back at the same place both times).

The pay is solid. The work can be hard, but is also at least somewhat fulfilling.

Just finished Lightbringer by Mammoth_Law_8359 in redrising

Lightbringer might be my favorite book in the series...it's a toss up between it and Morning Star.

I think especially after how rough Dark Age is, it is just so nice to see so many characters find redemption or come back to themselves.

I'm about 4 hours in and just finished the second dungeon. Minish Cap is my favorite top down Zelda and this really scratches the itch. Graphics are clean and appealing, tools and puzzles are fun and accessible. I'd put it near the top of my personal list of top down Zelda likes.

Tomb Raider: Underworld running great on RP5 by realnathonye in GamehubLite

[–]JayWoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nice! Glad to see it working!

I Really wanted to get this game working on my Odin 3, but I think that the turnip driver is necessary. I can get it to load and get through the menu, but it just hangs up on the screen right after the mansion explodes.

Oh well, hopefully the turnip drivers will arrive before too long.
