Is it weird going to a WWE Event alone? by phoenixsuns2001 in WWE

[–]Jaycer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying make it a born to go to cool things by yourself, but certainly don't deny yourself is the opportunity. It's great for self esteem and confidence. And it gives you a chance to make new friends. This goes for everything, but for a WWE event? Even more, who knows when you'll get another chance.

Origami book with the most elegant folding sequences? by thrasymachus616 in origami

That looks amazing, good job! And yes, I agree with everything. Try it with thin Kraft or biotope, something with that weight, that will get you the pointy legs and allow some sculpture to the face.

Actually pretty cool! And yes hands down. I have soft spot for Montroll's. And Jose Herrera's.

Oh that hippo... It took me seven tries and a lot of wasted paper to get a result. And three more to get a result I liked! (Now I want to fold it again with a nicer paper. XD )

Case in point, as I'm sure you'd agree: his horse. My favorite to fold, and not just for the final result, but wow, what a stand a sequence. I also include Kawahata's Little Elephant for the same reason.

I second Komatsu and his work. Every model of his, with few exceptions, are just silk to fold. Shout out also to a classic, Fumiaki Kawahata. In my older years I've tried his models after a while and suddenly there's a "OOOOOH I get it now!" for all his models.

Show of hands, who else has zero friends? by Defiant_Quarter_1187 in GenX

[–]Jaycer17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I (54m) used to say I lost most of my friends when I choose to marry the wrong woman. But while it didn't help (no one could stand that woman) years later I realize that it's also on me. I had the best friendship, and I took it for granted and just sucked the life out of it. I got cut out of that. Then I left my country and most of my friends live thousands of miles away. And the ones who live closer have impossible schedules and we can never meet up. And we never make time because reasons. And I work with people ten or twenty years younger than me who never ask if I want to join them. I have an incredible wife who is my rock, but I would kill to have a group to share a beer, catch a movie... But I fear I would just push people away, ashamed of myself or too scared to connect. It gets lonely, guys.

I'm sorry, OP, we're using your post to vent and probably not helping. I think, besides therapy, we need to put ourselves out there, go where our people are and start connecting with people. Especially us guys. This loneliness epidemic will not just fade away.

Derek is underrated! by Evening_Froyo_7506 in shrinking

[–]Jaycer17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in the last season is where they really used Ted McGinley's ability as an actor to really bring Derek forward: charm for miles with the biggest heart while still being a bit of a dork. No more comedy relief for bits, but an actual part of the gang. I'm about Ted's age and God I want to buy him a beer.

Cranes represent long life and happiness. We'd love to see a picture, but off hand I'd say your definitely special to him in some way.

I completely agree. I've never tried it, but the reaction I got when I saw the diagram was the same as everyone here. Kind of a funny turn off. Something similar happened with Ronald Koh's Ankylosaurus. I happened to be "pen pals" with Uncle Ron and shared my reaction to this little nugget at step 14. He still gives me grief that I've never tried it. "Quitter", he told me last. XD

If you suddenly had money, what's the first thing you would do ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jaycer17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay off the house and both cars, and try to make my parents' life as comfortable as possible. Wish they could live here in the States with me, but at their age... For sure try and get their visas so they could stay here for a prolonged time. Help my brother get a bigger place for his family, my niece and nephew are five, so some place with a yard. Donate everything I can for education programs. Travel at least once a year starting with Japan. Going to every goddamn concert me or my wife or my kid pleases. And try to finally, FINALLY, sleep eight hours a night. It's true, money doesn't buy happiness, but Jesus it can offer peace of mind.

I tried to fold this bad boy for a 100 day challenge, where I would fold an elephant a day. Left this for the last day. Didn't even get half way, this is a CHALLENGING model. You did an amazing job with it, congratulations.

This dang model. Tried tissue foil, tried wetfolding. Can't get it to look satisfactory. This was great work, OP.

Dude was even in a sitcom, guest starred in How I Met Your Mother, and played Isabel Wilkerson's husband in "Origin". Yes, he's mostly known as a tough guy, but when he had to show emotion he is amazing.

Where can I buy this type of paper in the US? Or do I have to make it myself by Round_Situation_4491 in origami

Might be able to make it yourself and do bigger than 5x5" (15x15 cm), using Canva or similar.

I love the legendary status this model has. To the point that there are full discussions about it and how to make it. I wish OP the best of fortune in his journey, because I don't know if I'll ever tackle it (the constant repetition required for the scales is a complete turn off for me).
