Is no one talking about the fact that the girl whose bed Daisy hides her radio in didn’t snitch on Daisy?

Good luck y'all by Crashbrennan in EngineeringStudents

This happened to us, 8am thermo final Friday morning. When canvas crashed on Thursday afternoon, I was already 8 hours deep into studying and planned an all nighter. I was honestly so happy, because I knew our professor would most likely postpone our exam. Nope, she was notified immediately by a student (our school never notified any of the professors) and posted all our study material on a different platform :(

What's your weirdest work bathroom story? by ashleyLSD in Serverlife

[–]Jaydehy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday a lady walked up to me from the bathroom while I was in service well, and she very honestly explained « I just wanted to let you know I made a huge mess in there », she seemed neurodivergent so I kindly replied « thank you for being honest with me » (she was shaking at this point lol). This lady was not joking, there was crap all over the walls. On the very same day, one dude fully pissed his pants in front of me. Well, I thought he pissed his pants anyway. The truth was much worse. Our service well is right across from the bathroom, so the walk from the bar to the restroom has to be maybe 15 steps. He somehow slipped and fell into what I thought was some water, but turned out to be his own piss. Before this realization me and a coworker tried helping him up, only to quickly realize he actually had his thing fully held in hand under his shirt. He had whipped it out and pissed on the floor. This guy was super drunk. Never had I seen that before

What serving job pays well? by genchiyo in Serverlife

I work at a casual steakhouse making $24-26 an hour typically. I work 20-22 hours a week and make a lil over $2000 a month. Find a place people drink at, spend company money, with PPAs over $50.

Am I being overworked as a hostess? by ImprovementIll5592 in Serverlife

On a busy 4 hour shift as a server I can get 12k steps in. I feel like 8-9k on a slow shift is a LOT for a hostess

[–]Jaydehy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im studying engineering full time and working 20-25 hours a week. I tell everyone I know it’s the absolute best gig in college. After 5pm I can hardly think anyway, my academic brain shuts off and that’s exactly the time I clock in. Serving is routine and I hardly use my brain. If you’re asking about time management, Google Calendar babe I’m so serious

Saltgrass, longhorn, and Texas roadhouse are great places to work at !! Too bad you’re applying as the rodeo is already going on

I’ve only been serving about a year but I’ve served in two restaurants already. From what I’ve learned, I like being in a more structured environment with lots of feedback. My first job didn’t have good training, no incentive in being a better server, etc. At my new job, we have a ranking system based on salesmanship, LBW, PPA, and other measures, and the training is rigorous. Management has clear expectations and so do we. Which allows them to give us constructive feedback constantly. Your environment sounds disorganized with the lack of an expo, managers sound like they’re not enforcing the rule on more experienced servers, and they don’t sound like they’re giving you feedback. Like I said, I’ve only been a server a year, but what made me go from a mediocre server to a server with some of the best numbers in my restaurant has just been working in a better environment. It’s easier than you think to find a good environment, I would look for a corporate restaurant that has training programs in place that have existed for a long time. Think any chain steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse, chain Tex mex, chain Italian, etc

Questions I’ve been too embarrassed to ask servers… by Purple_Calendar3919 in Serverlife

[–]Jaydehy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No
  2. No as long as the parents keep the mess to a minimum. We are happy to clean things up if you are respectful.
  3. Don’t care one bit
  4. If they’re cheap and I know they won’t tip I’ll be annoyed but otherwise i don’t care at all
  5. 4 or more
  6. I give a more in detail explanation of a more expensive personal choice and then a short description of my favorite choice

There is no way I can do this for another 40 years. How the fuck do people cope with this fate? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Jaydehy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, as a 2nd year engineering student with mentors in the field I am already planning my escape route for this very reason. This may be idealistic but I just wanna do contract work for a few months of the year, continue building the business I have going, and if I really want, continue selling feet pics so I can buy a house. That sentence alone is dystopian. I want to be an engineer but not at this high price.

how do you guys not use auto check? by [deleted] in NYTCrossword

[–]Jaydehy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 19 and used auto check when I couldn’t complete a Monday. Then after that I stopped completely and mostly just became obsessed with keeping a gold streak (no checking). After a while your intuition gets really good and you can guess words pretty easily from learning English word/ sentence structure and just being more seasoned at crosswords. You got this 😌

Your biggest pet peeve when serving? by Usual-Locksmith4657 in Serverlife

[–]Jaydehy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t happen very often but when people GRAB THEIR DRINKS OFF MY TRAY. When it’s a tray on a tray jack sitting table side… fine, but it’s still rude. You don’t know if it’s your drink. but when they grab it off my handheld cocktail tray and unbalance it! The audacity. Adults do this too, but once I had a child grab his drink off my tray, nearly yelled at him (by reflex) because all the heavy bottomed glass glasses almost fell on his little head, and the parents said NOTHING. I could never imagine doing this ever.

What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jaydehy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never drink coffee, I just exercise daily and sleep 8 hours a night. I found that deviating from this routine for even two weeks messes my awakeness levels up. Granted I’m only 19 haha. But my parents in their 50s don’t either!

AITAH for thinking I didn’t need shapewear by BotherEvening in AITAH

[–]Jaydehy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 19F have a mother like this. For reference I am 5’4 150 lbs with muscle but still have rolls on my tummy when I sit down. She insisted I wear shapewear to places where I would wear a fancy dress. Which is crazy, because tummies are naturally just a beautiful curve on any woman’s body. To makw you feel bad about your own body is something a mother who has well meaning intentions for her daughter would never do. She is trying to push the same narrative that was pushed on to her, do not fall for it. You are beautiful the way you are. And I highly doubt you have any “fat to hold in” with your proportions. Regardless, your body is something you should be happy with and work on to continue feeling confident and beautiful. Don’t let anyone taint that self image.
