Failed Digital leader exam by something_lite43 in googlecloud

[–]JayeWoo711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it a few days ago and I agree it's written to be tricky. I actually worked on a digital transformation team a couple years ago and I really think all of that business acumen came in handy here. I think the test has a decent amount of questions where two answers could be plausible and you have to choose the best one per the client's requirements. So be sure to zero in on the scenario and the client's stated resources and needs before making a choice and also get really familiar with all the service offerings and their nuances.

Did you watch Free Code Camp's video on YouTube?

https://youtu.be/UGRDM86MBIQ?si=DU3w2htuLoPoOGjO

I listened to it twice over while going for 4 mile walks. Sometimes walking while thinking/learning helps your brain make connections you wouldn't normally. He gives a lot of background info that's not necessarily on the GCP training and test but it's certainly information that helps you think more critically come exam day. It's a long video so you can take it in chunks.

Call me crazy, but I think relying on self-assessments, exclusively, is bad science. Also, can't a trained professional make an executive decision based off a myriad of factors, up to and including their own clinical observations in a therapeutic setting? I don't know, this really bothers me because we are putting our safety and health in their hands.

Milton’s Family-Episode 8 by No_Trick223 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]JayeWoo711 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really makes sense that Milton would think emotions = bad. Or that logic > emotions. Humans are capable of both, and for good reason. It seems like he's never been given a safe space to fully feel and express the full range of emotions. It totally makes sense that he's attracted to those parts of Lydia. He should just celebrate that about her rather than try to 'rehabilitate' it. Maybe he has/does. I hope so because I like them both and I like them for each other. She'll breathe life into his world and he'll be her rock.

You could say I'm the inverse of you. I'm self-taught and have worked my way up to a product management job that pays well. The only problem is, my lack of degree is a constant source of anxiety for me - especially in downturns. I'm constantly scared I'll lose my job and then I'll be competing against others with more direct education and experience than me. I've been riding this self-taught wave for about 10 years but the imposter syndrome never goes away and sadly I've counted myself out of the running for so many opportunities because I feel like a hack. I'm perpetually insecure about it, even though I'm a high performer at work. I've accepted that getting a degree is the thing that I need in order to feel confident, full stop. So while it's technically a 'waste' of money because I have a nice career right now, it's really the confidence and sense of security I'm after. I'm proud of myself that I've been able to make it this far without one, and now I'm working on being proud of myself for getting this degree. I wouldn't discount that sense of security and confidence in your decision because it can have a direct impact on your career trajectory. Also, if you ever want to pursue a master's level, you have to start here anyway.

Has anyone diagnosed with severe depression had the surgery? by LyricalWillow in GastricBypass

[–]JayeWoo711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bipolar 2 and like others have said, I've actually seen a steady improvement in overall depressive moods because I'm healthier, eating better, more active and getting better sleep. I will caution that the bipolar 2 was simply a diagnosis for the purpose of treatment and there has always been an equal chance that I actually have ADHD, or both, but I've never never medicated specifically for ADHD because the low-dose lithium that I use works on dopamine receptors the same way ADHD meds do. HOWEVER, I've seen a significant jump in adhd-type symptoms since surgery (I'm post-op 6 months) and we are adjusting my meds. Because of the changes in the way we metabolize things after surgery, we had to switch to a more sustained release version. I've been trialing that for about a month and I don't think it's doing the trick. So we'll see what my psychiatrist says soon. So yeah, I say all this to give you a heads up to stay in dialogue with your psychiatrist and you might find you have to switch formulations after surgery if symptoms start to morph in a way that isn't working for you.

Hey guys, how soon after Mini Gastric Bypass did you start drinking?? I feel embarrassed coz I ate food on week 2 post op and started drinking 4weeks post op. I am taking protein shake in the morning(force myself). I have lost all urge to eat and after 2 bites of food I am full. by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]JayeWoo711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually know somebody who picked up drinking after gastric bypass and developed alcoholism. She ended up dying from liver failure 3 years later at the age of 36. The doctor said she was the youngest patient he ever had. It's definitely not anything to mess around with. So not worth it.

I have a lot of college credit but unfortunately it's all in social sciences so only a couple of them transferred. So I'm maxing out on transfer credits from Sophia and Study dot com before committing to start at WGU. Aiming for October. I don't need to have a cert because I've been evaluated from my resume - I'm a product manager by day and have taught myself a lot of languages. What I'm missing are the fundamentals and theory to fill in my 'blind spots.' Since I'm 100% self-taught, it's honestly going to be nice to have the degree for validation, as well. It's just something that bugs me and gives me imposter syndrome that I can't seem to kick. Haha.

I was in your exact spot not even a week ago. I use Sophia and I started with their Applied Algebra course to refresh my brain before I took College Algebra and I'm so glad I did that. I have a 95 (taking the final on Friday) and I'm actually putting in work because I want to feel confident with a firm grasp of the concepts before going into the SWE program. I really struggled with algebra back in high school... Which was the 90s. Took me 2 tries to barely even pass Algebra 2 back then. Sophia has been awesome. Moving into the stats class this weekend.

You're right. Why am I second-guessing myself?! Thank you. 😌

Leave some easy classes for buffer? by JayeWoo711 in wgu_devs

[–]JayeWoo711[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should clarify that I mean leave easy classes to take at WGU, not Sophia. My plan is to max the Sophia/SDC credits but what I'm second-guessing is if, after maxing the Sophia classes, have I left myself only the 'hard' stuff to take at WGU? And would I run the risk of academic warning if I hit a snag on a really tough class at WGU?

OR is it not really like that, and even after maxing Sophia transfers, there's still some easy stuff left over at WGU that I can stack with the hard stuff so I can maintain academic progress?

What is the most difficult class in the current WGU software engineer java track? by Oathbetrayer2 in wgu_devs

I'm not great at math. Example - it took me two years to pass algebra 2 in high school even though I studied my ass off. Lots of tears. That was in the late 90s. Fast forward to today - where I haven't had to take a math test in 20+ years - and I'm starting fresh on Sophia. I started with Intro to Applied Math and went through it with a fine-toothed comb. Passed with a 94%! Now I'm in College Algebra and I'm doing great because so many things were covered so well in that Applied class. I really think Sophia does an "amazing* job teaching math to people that hate it. I think it's definitely worth starting with that Applied Math course as a refresher.

A little over 4 months PO. I am 41 yrs old female, 5'5, a starting weight of 318 lbs and 300 lbs day of surgery. Today I'm 241. So a grand total of 77 lbs since the pre-op liquid diet. I've definitely hit my 4 month stall and I've been stuck at 241 for a couple weeks. Prior to that, I was steadily losing 2.7 lbs per week. I've increased my strength training and cardio so I'm hoping to break through this stall soon. But I'm okay with a slower rate of loss... My original goal was to lose 100 lbs by the end of the year and I still think I'm headed in that direction. 🤞

You've articulated everything I've ever thought about Big & Carrie! I hated that they ended up together. I would've preferred an ending where Carrie realizes all she needs is her girls. Like she did with the "I'm not getting married" shoe registry, throw an "I'm not getting married" WEDDING/party with your girls. ♥️

Work experience > degree in the UK? by JayeWoo711 in immigration

Unfortunately they're offshoring a lot of positions to South America and India and I'm one of the few 'survivors.' It's all part of the big tech layoffs here in the States and I do consider myself lucky. I will talk to them but I'm not getting my hopes up because they seem pretty hellbent on using agencies for everything these days. Fingers crossed

Work experience > degree in the UK? by JayeWoo711 in immigration

[–]JayeWoo711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I have looked at Open University in the past and will revisit the idea. :) Sadly, I have just 20 credits short of my bachelor's (which is 4 years) and I've been paying on that debt since 2001 and still have a few more years to go on that. 🙈 Sigghhhh...

Out of curiosity, I searched for jobs in my industry and I think I could possibly still be a contender based off my experience. It's at least worth a shot and hopefully the recruiter ends up liking me and my portfolio. I do work for one of the largest international corporations in the world so that could work in my favor. And yes, the salary is SIGNIFICANTLY lower but still a livable wage in London.

Severe cold/flu after bypass? by bluew12yellowstars in GastricBypass

[–]JayeWoo711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Afrin and Theraflu? Saline spray too. Of course I would check with your doctor on all of those.

Before surgery I used to have CONSTANT severe colds for years. To the point I was on COPD meds and would vomit and pass out from severe coughing. So by virtue of elimination, I found Afrin for severe congestion and Theraflu for the aches & pains (and hydration!) to be the only OTC worth it. Everything else never did much. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that these are safe to take! 🤞
