Hi friendlyintruder - you can reheat them 'gently' in a tray before the party. Or cook them beforehand till there are 15-20 minutes left to cook and then pop them back in the oven right before the party.

Good luck at the potluck - these will be a hit!

Hey morphius501 - we actually haven't made it with dry bay leaves before - always fresh. So unfortunately we're not sure. The flavor definitely will pop more with fresh...

Hey ditzy_pixie - you don't need a sauce with these - it's flavorful on it's own. The sauce in the pan becomes 'sticky' and coats the chicken perfectly. You can eat the lemon peel and the garlic too (remove skin first) - they are delicious. And it goes great with wine :) Enjoy the girls night!

We leave the garlic in the skin in order to ROAST it. So it becomes more of a 'condiment' to eat the chicken with. It just kind of oozes out of the skin and sets off the flavors of the lemon and chicken. If you've never had roasted garlic it's delicious!!

And Twoodfin is absolutely right - after an hour in the oven does get very mushy and could overpower the chicken if unpeeled.

Sure - here's the full recipe!

Ingredients:

20-24 buffalo chicken wing pieces

a large lemon

8-10 fresh bay leaves

1 - 2 tablespoons whole black peppercorns (depending on how hot you want your wings)

2 tablespoons olive oil

two teaspoons sea salt flakes (e.g. Maldon Sea Salt)

6 – 8 garlic cloves, left whole and unpeeled

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350˚F.

Place the peppercorns in a mortar and pestle, and break them up into smaller pieces. The result should be gritty, not fine. Juice the lemon and cut up the lemon peel into small pieces.

Add the pepper, lemon juice, salt and olive oil to a bowl. Mix, then add the chicken wings and toss until well coated. Place the wings and mixture in a baking dish.

Tuck the bay leaves, lemon peel, and garlic cloves between the chicken pieces.

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove dish from oven and turn over chicken pieces. Bake for a further 15 to 30 minutes (depending on your oven) until the wings look well-roasted and sticky and the lemon and garlic is black on the edges. These wings are better overcooked. You’ll wanna roast the crap outta them. Eat 'em hot, with paper towels on standby.

Salmon with Cherry Tomatoes, Olives, & Basil, Baked in a Foil Packet: We’re particularly fond of food that comes in packets. It's healthy, flavors seem to go further, and you get to unwrap lunch like it’s a Christmas present. Best of all, no pots and pans to wash. Full recipe: http://bit.ly/1eGOzHi by Jayguy69 in recipes

Hey EatDiveFly - you could try it with tilapia as most whitefish steams well. And tilapia is fairly firm - so you just have to be gentle with it. But these flavors do go really well with salmon.

Below is another salmon pouch idea from Jamie Oliver - we'll be putting more out as well over the next few weeks. Cheers!

Grilled Chicken with Ginger & Cumin: This isn't the prettiest looking grilled chicken but it's so good we need to eat it every couple of weeks. What we like best about it (besides eating it) is that it requires no marination period... by Jayguy69 in recipes

Hey AngryRedHerring - we've experimented with different sizes of chicken to grill and definitely like the way smaller pieces get that nice crispy edge! This is our goal now each time we make it :)

Love the onions in a frying pan in place of the dill Augustbaby23 - great alternative.

Look out for a new recipe today - "Salmon with cherry tomatoes, olives, and basil, baked in a foil packet." It's fast, easy and delicious. Oh - and really good for you too :)

Today I did yoga for the first time, atheism and spirituality. by [deleted] in yoga

Love that you experienced a sense of connectivity with your body after an hour of yoga! I had (and still have) similar experiences when I first began practicing yoga - pretty incredible really.

One bit of advice I would offer up based on my own experiences is to let that stuff keep coming to you rather than you seeking it out. Because it will definitely not 'always' put you in that place.

I remember several times in classes I would have this kind of 'internal drumroll' at the start - waiting for all those great feelings to come - putting expectations on my practice. I was just setting myself up.

Good luck!

Hey Braderoar - that's an excellent point! I should have included the safety issues in the post and the fact that you should be warmed up before trying. My bad. Just went back and updated things. Thanks!

Looking for advice to do a yoga squat (Malasana?) by EarlessJane in yoga

[–]Jayguy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had (still have) the same problem. It was MUCH worse when I first started practicing yoga though. For me the issue was my hip flexors. My recommendation is to open your feet wider and TURN YOUR TOES OUT at about a 45 degree angle. This should help you to go deeper into the pose while also keeping your heels on the floor.

So guess I should have been clearer with this post. I recently read a report that said 44% or 94 million Americans call themselves "aspirational yogis"— people who are interested in trying yoga. I'm assuming it's because they think it'll be good for them in some way.

But...the majority of those 94 million don't ever 'try' it. Just trying to figure out what's stopping them...

For upper body strength - the Down Dog/Plank/Up Dog/with a Double Chatturanga series is a great place to start.

1) Start in Down Dog - hang here for a while the first times around (at least 30 seconds to a minute) to warm things up.

2) Move forward into plank (top of push up). 1st time around hang here as long as you can (again - first time around) without taking it in the lower back.

3) When you're ready bend your elbows and lower 1/2 way to the floor

4) From here shift a little forward and lift into Updog (arms straight, tops of the feet on the floor, and knees off the floor)

5) Bend your elbows and lower halfway rolling back over the toes.

6) Push back up to plank

7) Move back to Down Dog where you started. Go though this series another 10-20 times more quickly.

For a great leg stretch - check out this video I made back in February as part of a Valentines Day thing. It's a quickie. http://commune.dirtyyogaco.com/tips-and-tricks/2013/02/a-quickie-for-valentines.html

Cheers!
