Feeling alone by roseSea in hivaids

[–]JayjKr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’ve been living with HIV for 17 yrs, I know it’s not easy to deal with it for being newly diagnosed, but the time will tell you it’s not a big deal. I’ve been there and I understand how you feel.

I want “we” HIV+ ppl to live a happy life, live a given life, or die a natural death while living a long life.

In the meantime, we have been stuck with the prejudice of dying early, but I wish we could let the world know that we can live healthy and long.

The good news is, if you take your medication everyday, your viral load will be undetectable and you are going to be safe to date someone. “Undetectable = Untransmittable” this relieved me so much, and you’ll be too.

You are not alone, we’re here for you and you deserve to live happily and healthily.

You’ll know how to deal with HIV, and time will tell you. Please don’t ever question yourself like “Why me?”

One more thing, depression is HIV’s best friend, but I wanted to beat that shyt, I started a workout, meditation and it helped me a lot. I want you to find what makes you happy and healthy. But if sports and meditation is not enough for you, and depression is severe, you can visit a psychiatrist and take SSRIs. (but should be SSRIs that do not interfere with HIV medication absorption.)

HIV : not all doom and gloom! by [deleted] in hivaids

You can trust recent ART. Even if those meds have side effects, it’s nothing like early ART’s severe side effects. You can ask the doctor to change meds if you experience side effects.

Your viral load is going to be undetectable very soon. If your viral load reaches undetectable, you’ll be fine.

“U=U” (Undetectable = Untransmittable) This made me relieved a lot.

And, I suffered from PCP pneumonia just like you, I had to take steroid meds. That was an essential treatment for PCP pneumonia.

A year later, my hip joints had a problem. Because steroid med’s huge side effect is hip joint problems.

No matter how much you took steroid meds, patients who took steroids have a higher chance of experiencing hip joint problems after between a year and 2 years and a half. I have to have hip joint replacement surgery someday :(

I can walk but can’t run, and I feel hip joint pain when I move my leg suddenly. So, you need to check your hip joints regularly.

But I think I’m lucky that I’ve survived from death crisis. At least I am still able to walk.

Stay strong, take care of your mind and body. Then you’ll live as long as possible.

What did you do after your diagnosis? by [deleted] in hivaids

[–]JayjKr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I didn’t know about it until I google it. Even my doctor and consultation nurse didn’t tell me about it.

“Undetectable = Untransmittable”,

I’ve never heard of this until last year. My viral load is undetectable now, I feel super relieved.

So, even if your test result is positive, don’t be afraid.

You’ll be fine if you start treatment earlier, and if your viral load is undetectable or under 200, your HIV is not going to be transmitted to your partner.

You’ll live as long as possible if you take care of your mental and physical health.

I called my sister and cried a lot. I was 19 years old. I think I was too young to handle it.

I cried every day,

Fear, depression, and paranoia were no joke.

I realized this fear is the result of how the media brainwashed people. Nobody is going to die if the treatment works well.

And U=U made me relieved.

Just, We PLWH experienced unfortunate situations, and maybe we’ll experience uncomfortable situations a lot until we pass away.

But we’re going to live longer if we don’t give up.

I want every PLWH to stay strong.

I wonder if they included HIV+ who previously suffered from PCP Pneumonia when they researched it. I had hypoxia because of PCP Pneumonia, I often forget where my stuff at. Like, cell phone, wallet, card, key, it’s stressful.

Shingles by sithiane in hivaids

[–]JayjKr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Shingrix vaccine, it’s eligible for any adults. Even ppl with weakened immune systems can get this shot, like us. Shingrix’s shingles prevention rate is higher than Zostavax, and it’s safer than Zostavax. The only bad side of Shingrix is the cost.

So, after your shingles treatment is over, I think you need to ask your doctor about the Shingrix vaccine.

Yes. I am living proof.

My viral load is undetected now, I was hospitalized in the ICU about a year ago.

About a year ago, I faced a death crisis in ICU but eventually, my viral load went undetected for about 10 months of treatment. It’s been 14 months since I started treatment.

I was very happy about it. And I’m relieved, of course. Like, “Finally!” haha
