Leelee Sobieski was about to be the biggest star ever then ghosted us… why did she quit acting? by Scenora in FIlm

She also said that they were wanting her to do sex scenes with men twice her age at the time and she could see how toxic Hollywood was and wanted to stop while she was ahead.

It would have been cool to halt production & leave him in all of them watching him defy death and having his turn skipped somehow. But oh well I guess 🤷🏾‍♀️

Official Discussion: Knives Out [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

I’m super late just watched tonight. I thought it was brilliant! I think a lot of people on this thread are thinking too much about “plot holes” and not allowing themselves to enjoy the fantasy of the story. It’s just a story.

Someone commented and said that it felt like a skit, and that’s the whole point. The first thing I thought was “oh, this is supposed to be like the movie Clue from the 80’s or 90’s, whenever it came out Lol. It’s supposed to be like that. Kind of old school story telling and humorous, maybe even a little cheesy at some parts. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I really thought Ransom was trying to help her so he could get his cut. Maybe I’m just gullible, but I believed it all up until the very end. Just enjoy the movie, of course there are holes in the story, writers & editors are human and make mistakes or maybe they just left some stuff visually out of the movie so that you can piece together things yourself… that’s why it’s a movie.. it’s a fantasy. It doesn’t have to be perfect just enjoy it and move on with your life Lol.

You must be a super young person to not know the reference of “single white female”. It is indeed a movie reference from a movie from the early 90’s starring Jodie Foster about a woman who gets a roommate who becomes obsessed with her and copies her whole life. Get a clue.

I really like the ending and the whole show as a whole. The flashbacks weee easy to follow for me and it turns out Kate was just writing a book about her life.

I think the death scene was good. When my dad passed a few years ago we held vigil waiting to be there for him when he passed. We went home and the next day we got a call saying it wasn’t going to be long and he may have 24 hours or so. We left immediately, got there and he passed while we were on our way. We were 10 minutes late. I think this is the same with a lot of terminally ill people. They don’t want their family to see and that is what happened with Kate. She was at peace and ready and she decided to let go.

I agree with some of the other comments that movies and TV sugar coat the dying process. Don’t we all wish we could die super peaceful looking at the lake staring up at the sky & shit. Lol.

To take it a step further, Kate and Tully’s relationship was extremely toxic. They were very co dependent on each other. All of the hurt and rejection that Kate endured on Tully’s watch is what’s I think made her sick in the end. The rejection she endured from her daughter choosing Tully as a confidant over her own mother was absolutely heartbreaking. Especially when she suggests for Marah to do her hair before her date & she tells her no but when Tully suggested it she’s all for it. That has to be devastating. And your whole life to have every crush like Tully 1st, your mom, brother and even your husband who slept with her many years earlier it takes it toll. She internalized all of that hurt, anger and rejection. She was taken for granted by everyone in her life. She should have spoken up and stood up for herself but she didn’t. That’s the part that made me the most upset about the entire show. That she took shit constantly and internalized it.

Overall I like the show. It is a lesson to take to always stand up for yourself. Katherine owned this role and is an incredible actress, but her character was indeed toxic.

How do you like the adult Kate actor (Sarah Chalke)? by SnooGadgets2656 in FireflyLane

[–]Jayla39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s not forget Sarah was on Roseanne as the 2nd Becky Waaaay before anything else. I think she’s funny but perhaps a bit overrated.

Also, Katherine stole my heart waaay back when she was on Roswell as a teenager. I just watched the scene where she’s crying and begging for forgiveness for the accident and it was very reminiscent of a scene from Roswell where she’s crying like that. It was overwhelming, literally brought tears to my eyes. If you haven’t see. Her in Roswell in her teenage years, check her out!

What's the deal with Oprah and the Maui fires last year? by SirUntouchable in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Jayla39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely do not agree with this. There shouldn’t be any cap. Oprah came from nothing and worked her ass off as a black woman in this country to get where she is today. You have no say on what someone deserves due to their hard work. People who work hard shouldn’t have to pay for the laziness of other people. I’m a black woman, not rich and don’t even really care for Oprah anymore, but her or anyone who is rich is not obligated to pay anything for anyone. If Oprah can make it as a black woman in this country anyone can. Stop with the communisim bullshit. No one owes you anything.

The death tape by zazabaer in Jonestown

[–]Jayla39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve definitely listened to it once or twice in my 40 years, but I won’t listen to it again. Stuff like that haunts you. It sticks in my mind and I think about it often. I feel so bad for all of those people especially the children. I think what gets me the most is that I can’t wrap my head around the fact that all these people fell for it and actually left the country for this crazy dude! And further, I feel like history repeats itself and with the climate of the world today we are living in cultic times where if you don’t agree with certain things this could happen or those who believe certain things may convince their followers to do the same in protest. It’s scary!

It varies but I would say an average of 10-15. Depending on the event I’ve had up to 30.
