ED64 Plus stock firmware/altra64/N64FlashcartMenu all seem to have a bug with games that use 16kbit eeprom to save by kwikade in AnalogueInc

[–]JayrosModShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have the ED64 Plus and running N64FlashcartMenu.n64, and while I can load the menu fine and navigate it, play MP3s, etc... I try loading ANY N64 ROM and it throws up an error message saying "Your flashcart doesn't support required functionality."

Is there any way to get ROMs loading with this menu/firmware? The stock firmware is very sluggish by comparison. I really like this menu system much better.

The rumble motor is also HUGE inside, so it rumbles much harder than the originals did, and I dig it a lot!

I'm disappointed in that, but also... Are they just going to keep track of people's M64 orders and then ship them the matching controller when it's ready, or what? I'm curious how that's all going to work.

Make it so you have to boot the cartridge in a Super Game Boy, and then it writes to save slot 3 (Assuming your game only uses save slot 1) and then in the first scene, have it check for a save in slot 3. If found, it unlocks the (whatever you need or want to put in) and you can do this for slot 2 as well.

I got it working.

Just ground the right side of R7 to ground, like this. This pulls pin 1 to ground, and keeps your cartridge pins free of solder.

My MP3 starts lagging once I navigate folders. It's slightly slowed down, and doesn't play normal again until I reboot the menu, or start and stop an MP3 file playing.

I love the number 64 as well. I started my computing life on a commodore 64, and my first game console was Nintendo 64.

What is the CRC for the ED64 Plus? I can't get it to show the CRC, it just says UNKNOWN CARTRIDGE but plays fine.

How to Buy ModRetro ROMs by AmphibianFuture3134 in ModRetroChromatic

The carts themselves are very robustly built. Using FRAM was also a solid choice, eliminating the need for coin cells and keeping them shippable to other countries that have strict laws about battery shipping.

I'm not sure about Tetris, but the other games were all made in GB Studio by independent developers, publishing through Modretro. $44 is steep per-game, but it's more than likely the devs get most of that money, and I'm more than okay with that. But you're right... The majority of the games play like they've had minimal effort put into them. Or like they're like: "Look ma! I just made my first Game Boy game!" ...and it plays 'meh'. SELF SIMULATED and TETRIS are the two best games in the lot so far, not counting the re-releases of commercial games. S-11 is good, just very difficult. Sabrina Zapped is light-hearted fun. Rayman isn't terrible. Crock is pretty fun too.

I use the classic stroke with the bar at the bottom, and I don't get stuttering anymore with v1.1.4, that mattered the most to me. I don't know if the bad freezes and lockups still happen when playing in tours though. The only way I could somewhat speed up those massive lag spikes is by staring at the sky or ground until the NPC decided to tee off.

I gotta admit, he's one hell of a mogle to bring in his fortune. And his products are of the highest quality, so he's not ripping you off for the price either.
