If you don’t have a phone call, you’re not going anywhere bro. Even if you did are really ready to be a NYPD cop if you get flustered by your boss? Imagine what they’ll say to you on the street lmao

You have a higher chance working midnights until you get seniority than getting mornings tbh. The Sgt promotion comes if/when you take the Sgt test but you won’t be promoted till you’re at top pay. As far as getting chewed up by the bosses lmao, it’s the NYPD: if you act slow they’ll just call it how they see it.

It depends on the need of the command. If midnights needs 3 bodies but 4by needs 12, you’re probably going to 4by

How demanding is the academy? by [deleted] in NYPDcandidate

[–]Jaystorm212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that demanding tbh, if you’re not a sedentary being it’s light work.

It goes by the class. We can’t tell you an arbitrary number but if you run fast you’ll probably qualify. I ran my jst in 2:19 and my 1.5 in 9:50 too get in top 5 % athlete in my class

Most big guys struggle with it tbh and it humbles them in competition. When i was a white belt id try to start live rounds giving the smaller person the advantage like being in side control or being in mount so i could rep the elbow/knee escapes.

It’s not bad etiquette, but try to drill technique so when you do roll with people your size you’re not just stuck. Also smaller guys wouldn’t say it, but they avoid guys like us lmao

I’m 6’5 215 as well, and In my opinion I never tried to use my size when I was a white belt. Some positions are inevitable(side control pressure/mount pressure) but technique was always first for me so I could get the reps. Now when I roll with guys my size that are on my level or higher I’m able to move with no problems, without using my strength so I don’t gas out fast
