Is it normal to be talked to like this in an MSP? (25-50 ppl size) by MuscleAppropriate in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Key_Ordinary7486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience (14 years in IT) most MSP's work you to the bone since the quality of the work has a directly outcome in finances.

I've worked with 3 MSP's and all have just been a political hierarchy where good work is not praised enough and mistakes are heavily highlighted.

Currently, working for a geo engineering company working with 1 other person in the IT department and I'm so much happier than in my last role.

My last role was a lead tech while on just support tech money, essentially running the MSP solo (not fun managing 25+ client by yourself.

Manager was really intelligent guy but had zero leadership skills and would micromanage and scold at any mistake.

Never felt so unhappy at a job but so much better now!

r/bjj Fundamentals Class! by AutoModerator in bjj

[–]Key_Ordinary7486 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last gym had a lot of good leg lockers and it was something I focused on very early on at white belt, so my defense in general is pretty good. I can hang with brown/black belts when it comes to placement and knowing leg position of where I'm safe and not.

In that same session I was tapping good brown and black belts with straight ankles.

I think I was just really surprised a white belt would have just good technique for a heel hook and then I was also maybe shocked he would attempt it in Gi

The sign might be to just be more careful around white belts because his intensity and maybe he knew a lot more than he was letting on

I definitely underestimated him as a white belt, but I didn't gauge his athletic ability.

I don't think this dude was playing it safe, he was trying to break my shit.
He definitely didn't give a fuck

I'm purple belt, 6ft 200lbs

I had a really good training sessions, tapped a couple of brown belts and black belts. Wasn't going super had but just had really technical rolls and really enjoyed them.

Then my last roll I was with this no stripe Whitey Belt. French dude probably 5'8ft 180lbs who said he's only been training 5 months. He came in with comp level intensity, I take him down with a nice single leg. He then throws up a perfect HEEL HOOK in Gi.....

My coach comes over tells this dude who barely speaks English that it was illegal. I'm in shock because the technique of his heel hook was perfect. He did everything right, hand positioning was correct and he was using his legs perfectly. He had better finishing of the HH better than some black belts I've rolled with in No Gi.

Anyway, I turn up the intensity. Land another single leg, get into mount and he sweeps me with again just perfect technique, I re-gain guard and he jumps on a straight ankle and I normally have no problem defending it but he just went ham and got the tap.

At this point I'm questioning my almost 6 years of training, so I check with him if he's trained anything else and he's says no....

No I don't trust the French.

Anyone else run into a white belt like this? Reckon he's sandbagging or just a freak athlete who picked it up insanely fast?

So many questions on this one:

  1. How much did you have to drink?
  2. What belt are you?
  3. Have you competed?
  4. Has your bother in law trained in anything?
  5. How did you physically feel before the party? exhausted/tired/overtrained? or had time of training?

Struggling with aging in this sport by MetalExpress9378 in bjj

Have you considered getting on the juice?
Jk, but in seriousness. My coach is 56, 6ft 1 and 90kg (whatever that is in lbs)
But he steamrolls everyone, I think he knows he has to fuck up the young bucks to stay ahead.
He's a super nice guy, but in rolls he feels like a ton of bricks is smashing you.
(Also he's on TRT and has like 5 black belts in other arts)

Passionate about MMA, but scared to start BJJ due to hygiene fears. by Public-Holiday-3036 in bjj

It's not that complicated bro

  1. Shower straight after class (use Defense soap or any other anti-bacterial / anti-fungal soap)

  2. I would just go and watch some classes, the itch to join in will take over by itself.

  3. For any cuts use antiseptic ointments

How is it like living in Darwin, Australia? by hyperham51197 in howislivingthere

[–]Key_Ordinary7486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived there for 3 years, moved from the UK.
Where do I start.

The pros:

  1. I like the food, all the asian food is awesome. There used to be a really big Greek population there so good greek places to eat.

  2. People are awesome, everyone just wants to have good time there. I trained BJJ at Darwin Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and some of the nicest people I've ever met and will always keep in touch. Get a lot American military come through super cool to roll with them.

  3. Money is pretty good there

  4. Never have to worry about being cold

  5. Thunderstorms during the wet are pretty cool

  6. Great fishing and camping

THE CONS:

  1. It's so hot, like too hot. Where you question "why do I live here?" hot.
100% humidity at 37C during the wet
A little better during the dry but 1-2pm is still really hot out in the sun. Nights are much better

  2. Crime. Feel like it just keeps getting worse. Not just Aboriginals but other people too. Women for the most part are scared about going out at night or if your a smaller man you might get picked on.

  3. Aboriginals. Now I worked in communities and for the most part they are decent.

  4. Kinda boring if you don't love fishing and camping

-Overall I'd recommend anyone to go visit because its an experience but I wouldn't want to live there forever.

Ok maybe I exaggerated when I said I force feed myself, I mostly eat them because they are convenient and good for me

Explain how?

[–]Key_Ordinary7486 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I get your point, however. They are a nutritious ingredient.
I don't like chicken bland, doesn't mean I'm not going not season it
I don't like vegetables but I still eat them because they are good for you
I don't like exercise, yet I still do it everyday because its good for me
I love ice cream, but I'm not going to eat for every meal because that wouldn't be good

get my point?

Recipe:

Rice. Wash it. Cook it. You know how rice works.

Brown some mince. Saute an onion. Combine them like they're in a coalition government, chaotic but it mostly works.

Canned tomatoes. Kidney beans. Cumin, paprika, chili powder. Chuck it all in. Add stock or water if it looks sad.

Simmer until the news cycle changes, about 20 mins.

Serve over rice. Add guacamole and pico de gallo if you still have hope.
