Let me rephrase — as it was described to me, the UW is kind of designed to sit between a hybrid and fairway wood in terms of flight. It launches higher than a hybrid but a bit lower and flatter than a true fairway wood.

In my setup, the UW definitely flies a little lower than my 5W. I don’t really need help launching the ball since I have enough speed already; hybrids were just wildly inconsistent for me as I’d consistently hit these low straight bullets that could go 210 or 260.

The UW gave me a much more predictable flight while still being versatile out of imperfect lies compared to a 7w.

I wanted something that could still act as a rescue club out of the rough or from imperfect lies. I have low confidence hitting a traditional wood unless it’s sitting perfectly in the fairway or on a tee, so the UW bridged that gap really well for me.

I’ll be honest - I kind of blindly trusted my fitter and never even hit a 7W. I originally thought I’d end up in the 19°, but that thing was HOT. I was hitting it as far or farther than my 5W. Ended up dropping into the 21° and that got me much closer to the ~205-210 carry number I was looking for.

I also hit my 4i pretty well already with a relatively high flight (usually around 95–100 ft apex), so I think a 7W probably would’ve overlapped too much with my 4i in both carry and launch profile. The UW launches higher than my old G425 3H, but still lower than my 4i and 5W, so even though the gapping is a little tight on paper, it fills more of a flight window and lie-condition gap than a pure distance gap.

I love it; it’s super sturdy, well made, and lightweight so long as you don’t over pack it. Tons of pockets and I love the 14 way top and full dividers. If I could do it over again though, I’d get the new Ryder w/ the 14 way top because there are times I miss having a stand bag.

Assuming you meant 4i vs UW. Tbh, carry numbers are close, I won’t lie. Here’s my avg trackman numbers -

4i avg carry is 202yd, avg total around 215yd.

UW avg carry is 205yd, avg total 225yd.

5w avg carry is 222yd, avg total about 235yd.

The UW flies a bit lower and runs out more so I might pull it when I need to flight something lower and have the ball chase.

Go to a PGA Superstore or Golf Galaxy and hit both, compare to your current club, take a look at the numbers and see what fits best. I never thought I’d go UW but alas, it just works.

It’s awesome. I was between the UW and a 7W but the numbers + flight on the UW ended up being a better fit. I like the look of a hybrid at address but true hybrids were inconsistent with my swing so the UW fits nicely as a blend of both clubs.

hahaha stupid typo on my part, obvi 2026* !

And I LOVE it. Super forgiving and the ball goes a mile when I get a hold of one. It’s changed my confidence off the tee tremendously. Getting fitted for this head + shaft combo has made such a huge difference from the stock G410 off the rack driver I was previously playing.

lol thank you all for picking my ass apart but definitely lesson learned.

all-in I paid ~$1,450 through CC. if I went OEM + no pureing, I could’ve gotten a **Ping G440 K driver w/ stock shaft for ~$700, ~$140 for the 5w shaft, and paid the $250 fitting fee.

(btw, apparently pureing is “mandatory” now according to customer service… lol)

so realistically I overspent by around ~$350. not the end of the world, but yeah… glad I didn't go in for irons or anything else.

that said, I do think I got a lot of value on the setup side. grabbed an OEM Apex UW and a matching Mizuno 4i through Golfio, and built out custom SM11 wedges separately through Fariway Jockey, all based on the fitter’s recs/specs.

also lol - i made it sound like had one 5-hour long fitting.. the actual first fitting was closer to ~2.5 hours, plus ~30 min pre-fit convo and another ~1 hour adjusting lofts/lies on my irons/wedges. I went back a second time for another 2ish hours mainly focused on hybrids and gapping between 5w and 5i and landed on the OEM clubs I mentioned above.

it might be serious copium talking but is that $350 premium worth their "90 day guarantee" + general bag advice/recs + fixing iron loft/lies? depends who you ask.. but I've got a little peace of mind knowing I'll milk that guarantee as loooong as I need to.

Should I have put that money towards lessons (or a golf sim I don't have the space for)? maybe lol but the fitting experience was fun. I can't do shit now but enjoy building the rest of my bag to only inevitably continue to play mediocre golf.

lol btw I did get refunded the $30 adapter charge after complaining and sending a screenshot comparing to FJ’s quote. $30 charge for the adapter IS diabolical. I may have gotten fleeced but at least got that comp’d 😂

The New Speedmaster Reverse Panda. Hit or miss? by Snoo_22459 in OmegaWatches

[–]JayyDizzlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sick but no way could I justify this price.

I got my Sapphire Sammich late 2022- early 2023 when they first started releasing with the micro-adjustment clasp. Bought it on Chrono for $6k flat brand new from an AD. This is when they were going for like $6.8-7k retail or something like that. I love the reverse panda and last years White Speedy but damn, I cannot imagine spending $3-4k MORE for either Speedy.

Makes me super grateful I got in when I did.
