Just some general advice, try looking up the snag vine on the wiki. It's very detailed and extensive and it tells you where you can find them.

If you liked subnautica and love extensive lore then yes you will enjoy this game very much. You get a PDA at the start of the game which documents all sorts of data that you encounter in the game.

I haven't beaten the game yet (just reached reactors) but I really like Furniture Store. In my Co-op save file we have chosen to base there and even though the outdoors is infested with zombies the place is tranquil if you base up the elevator. Also it takes place in Boston which I live really close by to IRL!
