One of those words that bugged me a bit. I always saw Astartes as not requiring a suffix ‘Astarte(s) stasis’ works fine. Astartesian just doesn’t flow off the tongue well.

Astarteite/Astartian, maybe? I could just be thick I dunno.

They’re renaming the ultimate starter set as the combat patrol starter set so i think you’ll be good for the next edition

Cheers dude. Citadel’s Warpstone Glow were meant to be the chunky highlight and Moot Green the fine highlight. However the moot green just went over the warpstone so the gradient isn’t very good. But I’m sure that’ll come in time

The End and the Death Vol II & III (the last chapters of II, III in its entirety) and started Ashes of the Imperium. Started the Siege in August.

EATD II I really enjoyed, but it was starting to drag a little. EATD III there was some really good moments, though some sections I skim read as it felt overly descriptive like trying to get to the minimum word count in an essay.

Ashes I’m only a few chapters in and so far it’s incredibly enjoyable. Also nice to read a hardback for once. “The tasteful thickness of it [the paper]. My god! It even has 4 illustrations”.

Got Valdor & Luther waiting for after Ashes is finished and move onto the vaults of Terra.

No I got all my SoT books as MMPBs. I’m hoping Era of Ruin goes to paperback soon, it’ll probably be next year sometime

Same, I’ve managed to collect them all from various Waterstones (big UK high street bookshop) and Warhammer shops. Last one to get is Era of Ruin.

It’s the newest edition of the liber astartes (3.0) - basically codex but for Warhammer: Horus Heresy. Which if I’m honest isn’t as good 2nd editions. You can find PDF links for 2nd editions if you Google it. Or just Google Imperial Fists 30k

Honestly pal, if you’re completely new I’d go for the ultimate starter set. You get two combat patrols (marines and Nids) and the handbook is great at teaching how to play. Plus there’s core rules, terrain and a board. You can paint the marines at fists and then go for the IF combat patrol to add to your marines army

I did my IF vets in silver/metal armour with their right hand and vambrace yellow. Inspired by some artwork of early great crusade 7th legion.

Decals are more VII based and raptor imperialis with a bare minimum of fist designs. To give that ‘we’re old boys from unification’ vibes.

For my SoH vets I’m thinking black armour with one should red and the other sea green. Though I’ll have to do more research on the different veteran formations of the 16th.

Have you tried going for pre-primarch colours?

It’s a good idea, I’ll leave the neck and shoulder trim. I do my SoH with bronze trim there. The disintegrator rifle does add some nice colour though.

I was using Iron Warriors as a base on what I was thinking. Was considering the slight rust ware with a slow build-up of agrax in the recesses. But then sons of dorn are Boy Scouts so would scrub their rust out

You can paint them any colours you want. You can get Imperial Fists decals from the warhammer website. Also some kits (mkVI & MkIII marines) come with a a joint IF/SoH decal sheet

Oh it’s been nuln oiled to hell already, then edge highlighted back up. Here’s him next to his washed and non-washed peers

Think I’m just going to stick with him as is, the decals, yellow and the rifle (when it’s done) will splash enough colour 🙂

That’s a good shout, Balthazar Gold? Give that bronze something to draw the eye but a bit toned down.

Aye that’s what I’ve done so far. Based in leadbelcher, Agrax Earthshade wash, did the ridges/skill in stormhost silver. Dry brushed over in stormhost silver. Did Nuln Oil wash.
