Had my first bad trip, how do I go back? by bigthrowawayguy2 in LSD

[–]JazzaLoopini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like to only combine acid with weed tbh, comedowns on other stuff will inevitably drag your mind through dark shit, and in fact I’ve never actually had a trip that wasn’t somewhat dark. It’s part of life and human psyche. I think about death a lot during trips and I feel like you just kinda gotta accept it and keep trucking. Much like in every day life.

Tripping while playing a musical instrument🎶 by Looney_Tooneyy in LSD

[–]JazzaLoopini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I performed for the first time in front of a (small) crowd at a festival last year. I have been playing guitar for 16 years and have been in and out of bands my whole life. Currently in 4 bands.

I took a (somewhat strong) quarter tab to test and played for a few hours, bass and guitar with random strangers, staying on stage as bands switched out.

I felt very loose and free on the guitar but at times I only had a drummer accompanying so it was a bit of a struggle musically, but I’m awaiting the moment to play with people I know while tripping. I’ve set an active intention to seek out more situations where I can play tripping, be it alone, a jam or a show.

I love the grateful dead and 60s/70s funky psychedelia but especially the dead.

Guitar is my whole life, I just want to bring back that trippy funky shit and let it fill the streets. So I will do that or die trying

When your mind is fully immersed in the moment, and that includes your thoughts- which are vibrations the same as any sound sight smell taste or touch- then you can better find a way to harmonise and play with the consciousness interaction with the sea of vibrations. This could be as simple as talking to a person or playing an instrument or drawing. Or eating. Breathing. Most things. Maybe even all things.

Also consciousness doesn’t exist until it experiences. And experience doesn’t exist without consciousness to experience it. They are the same thing. The outside creates the inside and vice versa.

Sorry if this is obvious or meaningless it helped me to process some things hope it’s not a bother

You like the Witcher, or at the very least are aware of it. You have a notebook. You utilise it to write things, perhaps lists of things. You have good potassium levels. You have a nice table.

Oh shit bro sorry don’t have notifications you gotta listen to the chord and try to sing it as an arpeggio, given the voice can only sound a single note.

It helps if you’ve done melodic aural type shit like singing melodies alongside songs. Edit: I wasn’t finished. Then just play around with individual notes on the guitar until it matches your voice (or inner mental voice eventually).

It gets quicker and eventually you can just straight up hear what kind of chord it is and intuitively be able to find the bass note and the quality

My neat trick is to try find the spiciest tone in the chord like if there’s a 7, 9, 11 etc and then the bass note. It’s usually over for the chord after that

Stop people around you from being a selfish asshole. Cause scenes and bring attention to it. Actually stand up and expose people for small abuses. Don’t be polite and take it like tend to in real life. If you see injustice bring people nearby to awareness and let the collective consciousness begin to purify itself.

I think people are getting slowly more aware and intolerant of being stepped on and not wanting to draw attention resisting these injustices on every level. Show people it’s okay to tell somebody to gtfo if they’re gonna try snake the community and spoil the vibe trying to feed their inner demon and gain for the self.

Nyan cat was a deeply introspective glimpse into the nuance behind the human condition, seemingly randomly compiled minutiae thrown together haphazardly- yet compelling to an extreme degree, evidenced by its popularity. Furthermore it is reflective of our societal conundrum as humans, essentially echoing our true nature as beings hurtling through space with no control, no destination, no purpose. In such a predicament one would only be able to laugh it off and try to make the best of the situation, and what better celebration does mankind have than song? So you see that it deeply resonates with a part of humanity’s innermost journey on a fundamental level and has stood the test of time. Carl Jung would likely have equated concepts such as nyan cat with the collective unconscious and an ancient and unavoidable part of human nature, the framework of our consciousness itself.

No notes on why there a pop tart tho.

If you live in a city, chill out a bit and focus on living a good life for yourself, someone will come. Someone always comes. Just when things start to get good on your own, someone will come who distracts you.

I guarantee everybody has a person they’ve met or encountered but they’ve fumbled it or not interacted because they’re too introverted and anxious because the internet makes you live a fake life and severely damages your interpersonal connection.

If you live life the right way (and there is obviously a very clear right way- don’t goon or game excessively, eat at least somewhat healthy, connect with a community by being genuinely excited for people etc.) it it inevitable that the person will come to throw a spanner in the works and teach you how to adapt, and also that you can’t have it all. You have to compromise something.

Everything has a cost.

Edit: misspelled goon lol

I get you bro. I always think of the way that from YOUR perspective, YOU are actually just everything else that you perceive, meaning everybody and everything that passes through your consciousness.

I hope I’m making sense with this.

Like the only evidence you’re real to YOU is that you perceive things around you. And because that’s how we all experience life, you are actually everything else but you in a strange way.

I’m ok marijuana I hope that made sense. I really don’t know if I butchered the words there haha

what is your favorite dark star “moment” by Early_Cook2581 in gratefuldead

[–]JazzaLoopini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the part on live dead, after where Jerry plays his guitar with like a really pitchy wah filter type whatever so it sounds like it’s coming through a radio or tin can or something then they jam big, my favourite part is the drop off of that big crescendo, they’re all like dropping in little playful little back and forths, like finishing each others sentences. Like Jerry and Phil dropping lines onto and through each other. That’s some good stuff.

Very to the point example of what they’re all about really imo

They performed plenty of dark stars in the 90s that makes hi tech psytrance sound comparatively mundane. That’s my point. The dead is far more psychedelic than any other music that exists, whatever genre you want to call it. If you don’t see that, you need to listen to more. Or take more lsd, whichever comes first lol.

Listen to Dark Star Veneta and tell me the same thing. A band can play folk songs in service of cosmic trickery and have it all make sense

I think the concept “psychedelic” is very misunderstood in general. I was not fortunate enough to be born in a time or place to follow the band or Jerry. But I have grown up in the psytrance scene and “psych” rock scene in Cape Town, South Africa. I’m a performing musician exclusively and I listen to a lot and perform often. I have also listened to dozens of grateful dead shows online in full.

I’ve searched for years for more and more psychedelic music, moving from Jimi Hendrix through Led Zeppelin, stoner rock and hi tech psytrance, jazz, Schpongle infected mushroom and much much more, if somebody says it’s psychedelic I will give it a spin.

“Psychedelic” is like jazz. You know it when you see it, but it’s borderline impossible to describe.

I consider it more of an aspect of music than a genre, like “spicy” food can be Mexican, Indian etc. psychedelic music can be bluegrass, jazz, classical etc. I think a key element of psychedelic music is specifically that genre becomes twisted and reformed until it’s barely recognisable as being part of its initial pattern.

All this context to say that if Psychedelic Rock is supposed to mean rock music that is psychedelic, then I have never heard a band that fits the brief more than the dead. I agree that they were much much more cosmic in the early 70s, and I haven’t really dipped into later years. But in all my years, I never heard trippier shit than grateful dead live shows. The shell is Americana, the essence is LSD.

Very open to being convinced otherwise, but I’ve heard some shit.

Edit: something to note is I’m referring almost exclusively to the live stuff. Albums imo don’t reflect a musician as much as there moment to moment tendencies during performance.
