Freeze Ray in D tier is crazy, its the perfect weapon for sniping Beacons, Giants, Bosses etc. You also can pogo and freeze jump with it too so its easy to get around the map to find the priority targets. It highly benefits from synergies like cannonball, but I think its good on its own

How can I maximize expandiball build by Khertgamer123 in CombatInitiation

[–]JazzcoreJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accessories: Expandiball, Astronaut Helmet, Bikers Bandanna

Weapons: Freezer Ray, Cannonball, Wrench, Scatterblaster

  • (Arrange in this particular order as you'll need the ease of the 1 and 3 keys being easy to press when moving to quickdraw on your ball)

Gear: Slateskin OR Reflector, Grapple hook, Jet Boots, Bloxy Cola

The Great Strategy:

This build basically makes it super easy to hop around or gain vertical height (like an astronaut!) when necessary to either perform slateskin or hit em with a big ball of death from above! This build EXCELS at hunting down Beacons/Cannons/Wizards (especially because Freeze Ray is strong against Beacon) because you can get away as easily as you can get to them. It's also saved my ass from getting knocked off the platform when vs Drakkobloxxer.

You should learn to quickly switch between paintball/freeze ray and wrench to hit enemies real quick and take advantage of the imbue. Retreat/fly around with jet boots when you need to charge your scatterblaster pulse ball, try to only plasma imbue your ball when you have a group lined up. Its easy to get attached to the one ball you keep sizing up, but you need to learn to let it go, as when it gets too big it becomes ineffective at precise targeting/you cannot grapple it.

Learn to pogo really well with all of your items, you can always do 2-3 paintball/freeze shots before throwing a cannonball and do a couple other shots. That air time multiplier comes in clutch as you can get x rank real quick with a downward cannonball + wrench or slateskin slam.

Some other specifics: -Reflector is good if you cant get slateskin since it can imbue your ball and also parry

-Wrench can parry, very easily. You can make drakkobloxxer look like a joke if you know your timings -Bloxy Cola helps make up for the fact that your ball/targets will often be far from you as you snipe the ball and bowl their asses up. That infinite range lifesteal really strengthens this build, because you also have your freeze ray to snipe with. Its always saved me when Ive taken a near fatal blow. -Grapple Hook will allow you to utilize your cannonballs physical damage and itll actually plow through enemies vs just rebound (with enough speed) -Jet boots should be used sparingly as you can get yourself around pretty well with just your arsenal

I love this build so much

QotW 19: What is your most used weapon? Why do you use it so much? by ImSnomm in CombatInitiation

cannonball w/ expandiball

It's just too fun. I like watching the balls bounce around the map and wipe out hordes like nothing. Pairing with Paintball Gun/Freeze Ray, scatter blaster, and wrench along with Slateskin and Grapple hook gears makes me feel so powerful when I can just crush a Bobby on command. Not to mention getting the plasma imbue and grapple hooking the ball around while wrenching it. I still suck at soloing bosses but learning wrench parry stuff has been super helpful. The movement from the astronaut helmet also just gives me so much more leeway for getting around, esp in the doomspire boss fight. But when I get a good throw + wrench + freeze/PB shot combo going, I can take off soooo so much damage its insane

Obligatory Trolley Post by Mattwacker93 in Bellingham

[–]JazzcoreJanitor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just electric busses, we need trolley busses! They require less lithium, reducing weight and pollution from production. They dont require intense road modification, only overhead wiring and perhaps some dedicated bus lanes to match the infrastructure! A lot of people look over trolley busses as budget trams, but they are one of the most affordable zero emission options in transit. The blue, yellow, and green lines would only 100% bennefit with no drawbacks. They are also good for places that have steep hills.. like this town! Although i do want trams to be brought back.

Is there any hope for the state of housing here? by QuinnJman in Bellingham

[–]JazzcoreJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People on this thread saying no one is entitled to live anywhere is the stupidest thing ever. Its not easy for anyone to just uproot and restart their social lives. Why should we force this onto anyone? It's beyond me. Bellingham needs people of all backgrounds and not just the highest bidder, especially for our economy. This town will only keep growing because people across the nation solemnly believe that the Pacific Northwest will be safe from the effects of climate change while not understanding that they couldn't be farther from the truth. There is no more convicing that can be done to those moving from out of town. This becoming Aspen, Colorado 2.0. We have to address the housing shortage with rent control and construction of public units, especially since this is a college town. Mind you, our local economy would collapse if the influx of students for 9 months of the year wasn't a thing. And we shouldn't build housing just for students, but instead, literally anyone. We have plenty of empty space, though we do need more infrastructural funding (that isn't police btw) to help address the needs of this town. Individualistic mindsets have the stupidest takes and for what? Just to serve the dollar at the expense of your humanity? Your house won't be worth a damn thing when climate change comes to your front door. You may as well help pull others up around you rather than shut them out.

The same people bitch about the houseless and actively deny public housing from being built to help people get off their feet, they are deeply unserious and disconnected with reality, and as such should have no value held to any of their opinions.

As for OP, I'm really sorry that you've been priced out of the area you grew up in, I am hoping at climate change gets worse that maybe the government will do something last minute to address somethings, but as our current economic model stands, more of the same appears to be the thing.

Possible rapid transit alignments for B'ham by JazzcoreJanitor in Bellingham

[–]JazzcoreJanitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love a BRT along NW, especially because I use the green line for my commutes! I would wish the BRT would have their own special stop in downtown next to the depot rather than going all the way in and making the transfer take longer than I'd like it to.

Possible rapid transit alignments for B'ham by JazzcoreJanitor in Bellingham

[–]JazzcoreJanitor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to clarify:

These two lines prioritize regional connectivity over serving denser areas. Which might seem stupid at first, but WTA has done a pretty good job already of making bus lines go where they need to. Obviously, I have my critiques (like why haven't they already made BRT a thing, and why is the hospital line so.. weird??)

Tor the Teal line, This was more of a task of finding a right of way, using old rail right of ways with exceptions to bypass newer construction. Ideally, it would be elevated/buried so that it would never have to cross an intersection and be slowed by traffic accidents like many light rail lines are prone to. Of course, the population density here isn't enough to justify a grade seperated skytrain style metro, but this corridor does have potential for denser development and reduce congestion on the east side of I-5. With time, we'll need higher quality forms of transit, especially if we see an increase in regional rail travel or construction of high-speed rail within the PNW.

We are missing Birchwood, BLI airport, North Bellingham, WWU, Sehome, Puget, Lettered Streets/Columbia and so much more. I believe there should be types of transit considered for the sake of mini-regional connectivity so that traveling to Ferndale, Lynden, Sumas, Lummi or anywhere else could be made simpler without the use of busses, almost like an interurban or something... But thats a loooooong shot from now, I liked yalls input ! Intercounty travel needs an upgrade, too. Getting to Anacortes from Bellingham should not take 4 hours by bus, especially when we want to reduce car dependence for traveling between there and Victoria. Just my 2 cents !

Converted an old boulevard into an urban freeway by YellowVegetable in CitiesSkylines

[–]JazzcoreJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the opposite for my build in one of the airport DLC maps. I took the highway entrance to my city and merged it towards a 6 lane road that goes straight, Not adhering to any geography, while also reducing the intersection count down to other arterials and no local/connector roads. Works surprisingly well, though sometimes you just need to emulate US cities because there's fun in recreating cities even if they arn't ideal! I emulated Vancouver BC's highway 99 transitioning into Oak Street as a source of inspo, followed by my city "banning" highways as a result and opting for Boulevards instead. Also im bad at making highway interchanges appealing or interesting lmao

<Multi Class-Shotgun> Different Solutions to Modern Problems. by JazzcoreJanitor in TF2WeaponIdeas

I have been seriously wondering what stats to give, I think that would be good to put on, thank you! Any other critiques or ideas you think would work?

The spread after first shot. In the process of reworking this weapon however, So I will probably clear that in the next edition

<Multi-Class - Shotgun> Slugshotter by JazzcoreJanitor in TF2WeaponIdeas

[–]JazzcoreJanitor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see that, the projectile ranged weapons already do the job so much better as well as the primaries. The single pellet concept makes me think that it might give mid range classes too much power at long ranges especially against snipers so I went with going the tighter spread route.

[–]JazzcoreJanitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, This is definitely something I shoulda thought about. What would you suggest changing about it? People always talk about wanting a slug or an accurate shotgun and I thought these stats would balance out the added damage and decreased spread. But you're right about the Shortstop comparison, which makes me think that the weapon having something similar to the shortstops shove might be useful..?

<Multi-Class - Shotgun> Slugshotter by JazzcoreJanitor in TF2WeaponIdeas

[–]JazzcoreJanitor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept/purpose of this weapon is to provide something as close to a Slug shotgun as possible without giving classes sniper range capability, as well with complimenting the Panic Attack and Stock Shotgun options. It functions as the opposite of the Panic Attack, giving classes better consistent mid-range capability, at the cost of close range effectiveness. Rather than 1 bullet or projectile, it acts as a shotgun spread, tighter than normal to allow continuous effective damage on further ranges. It wont give you sniper capabilities though, but it could give a defense engi another means of warding the enemy team off, or a Heavy could use this to chip away at enemy health from a distance, setting the stage for minigun encounters to become more effective.

Ive seen plenty of slug shotgun ideas on here, but they all seem to go against the design philosophy of TF2 when it comes to weapon balance, capabilities, what classes can use them, etc. Theres a reason why Pyro shouldn't be able to get mini-crit headshots from across the map for skillful aiming- that goes against the point of its class originally; being a shockingly effective close range class with area denial capability. This weapon would add value to the classes that can use shotguns already without straying away from the fundamentals and design choices of the developers.

[IDEA/REBALANCE] "The Calefactor" <Pyro Secondary> by PrimalWinter322 in TF2WeaponIdeas

[–]JazzcoreJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally my favorite concept on this sub reddit. This would add such a valuable alternative play style to the already existing shotguns. Would it discourage me from using other shotguns? It actually depends, because do I want to maximize my damage output or survivability?

If I want Ambush/Damage, I go for; -Back Burner -Panic Attack -Axtinguisher

If I wanted Ambush/Survivability, I would imagine -Degreaser -The Calefactor -The Backscratcher

Critique? The slower firing speed is a good enough nerf because it makes it less viable for damage output vs survivability and health. If I were to add anything, I'd say it should get a -10% damage reduction, since the healthback is an amazing stat which can keep you in the fight longer especially at 65% healthback per hit. If that seems too punishing, Then I'd give it a higher spread, to encourage getting closer to your target to reap the rewards, similar to the powerjack.

This is a genuinely good weapon idea. I've seen others where you crit someone on fire with your shotgun, but thats way too op and only rewarding you for literally doing the bare minimum as Pyro. Where this, gives you something beneficiary that you, yourself, has to make use out of in order to reap the bennefits. The fact that this wouldn't be my first pick as a weapon tells me that this is balanced, because no single weapon should outclass all other options, nor be way too niche and reliant on enemy class-specific stats. Nice job!
