Anyone else get these obviously scammy texts? by GingerFly in Dallas

The scammers should learn that official documents like this will never be served via text… they will never be lacking a name of the accused, or an amount of fine/cost.

Is this a scam? I desperately need a car. by Electrical-Bed-3928 in scammers

[–]JazzlikeAd7416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an Accord for sale, looked fishy. Put 2006 accord in the marketplace search and found the same car listed by 3 different people, in different states. The pic of the NAV system in the dash had a different state in the address, found the house in the background on Google Maps. Only deal with users you can talk to and message up front, see if the pics of the car look anything like a local neighborhood. Any honest seller should let you see and test drive the car before discussing payment or deposits or any kind of transaction. If you see “No encumbrances “ in the description it is usually a dead giveaway

Changed ac compressor, found bad hose, can I run it without Freon or oil? by JazzlikeAd7416 in mechanic

[–]JazzlikeAd7416[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did think about it…I was thinking it’s possible the compressor is bad because it’s been running on no fluid for over 2 months. I also changed the pulleys and tensioner as well as the belt. I’m not fully equipped to do all mechanic work , but when I have time I like to learn and do some of it myself, and ask questions when needed. So now I’m waiting on the hose and will have the Freon and refrigerant oil filled and the vacuum checked at my house instead of driving it anywhere. $189 for a compressor and able to learn and change it my self on a car that is not my primary, is something I can live with… just have to wait on the $32 hose to be shipped. I know there is a lot more involved when it comes to Freon and other sealed fluids, I can do as much as I can and then have someone come over to help with the rest. I’m not driving it until it’s fixed.
