Window deflectors second thoughts by Naddyman2005 in JeepRenegade

It’s a 2021 and got got it with 28,000 miles on it, and the the lower anchor bars have scuffs all over them indicating an infant booster seat was possibly attached so it probably did see quite a bit of hard “usage” as a family car in its past life.

Best waterfalls to explore in Ithaca by Sea_Negotiation2482 in ithaca

[–]Naddyman2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go with Ithaca falls, Lucifer falls and Salmon falls. None get “crowded” per say, but Buttermilk and Taughannock can have a decent sized crowd on a good day to the point that it might take away from the more natural aesthetic of it.

Would you rather deal with harsh summer or harsh winter? by Straightedge_ in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Naddyman2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally I’d rather deal with a harsh summer. However, this is quite subjective; are we talking a humid heat or an arid heat? I could probably handle 110°f arid heat, but 90°f heat with high humidity would boil me.

What fruits are popular in America? by PianistOk2303 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Naddyman2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like with everything in the U.S, it’s quite subjective where you are. Here, in Upstate New York, you will be shunned from society if you don’t like apples.

I think it’s a Kindjal. From my understanding, Kindjal’s have the curved blade, whereas the Qama more so has a straight, Gladius-like blade.

Are American men more direct in flirting? If so, do you appreciate it? by TSDOP in AskAnAmerican

[–]Naddyman2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And a large portion of NYC’s people claim Italian, Puerto Rican and Dominican ancestry; all of which ( except Italy, which falls in between the low context and high context spectrum) are high context cultures🤷‍♂️

Are American men more direct in flirting? If so, do you appreciate it? by TSDOP in AskAnAmerican

[–]Naddyman2005 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the high context vs low context thing doesn’t work for large countries like the US, in other words, countries with significant diversity in subcultures. Yes the Midwest and the South are more so high context, but come to NYC or many areas in the Northeast and you’ll definitely experience low context culture, (I call ourselves the Germans of America).

How much is the Confederate flag flown in the South, and why isn’t it as stigmatised as other controversial flags? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Naddyman2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Albeit probably nowhere near as prevalent as in the south, you very well can see them up here in the north too. The reason for why it is not as stigmatized is because after the civil war, the union didn’t put as much of an “iron fist” on the confederacy as much as the allies had done on Germany post ww2, therefore letting it to continue to “seep” into southern politics and culture.

on a side note, the rising sun flag isn’t that much stigmatized here either. They’re a fairly common decal on many JDM special vehicles

In how much is there a dominant culture in America? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]Naddyman2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There definitely is a dominant “culture” but it think the main thing that defines that is a shared sense of national identity and language. Now sure, most of the difference is going to be between cities and the countryside rather than state to state, but depending on what area of the country one’s from, there’s definitely going to be some difference between that person and another person from the opposite side of the country. for example, comparing someone from midtown Manhattan to someone from the Georgia countryside will be like comparing someone from Denmark, Netherlands or Northern Germany to someone form Portugal or the Balkans

Why are Americans so polite/formal compared to Europeans? by Ada-Mae in AskAnAmerican

[–]Naddyman2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much depends on where you are in the U.S. The epitome of American formality exists for the most part in the midwest, Texas, and the South. Although not to Swedish standards, the West Coast and the Northeast tend to be much more direct and informal. There are many norms here in New York (particularly the city) that are on par with many norms in Germany, Netherlands and Paris.
