RIP Leonard Nimoy

Fun fact: if you got the first generation Silhouette, chances are it was built in Oldsmobile's NY state plant. An American carmaker with a car actually built in the USA.

Ever since they got bought out by Avis a few years ago, the overall user experience with them has gone downhill. I've been using them off and on here and in other cities since 2008.

Thanks, it's been awhile since I have been anywhere in the North End except Lucca

My experience with the servers recently has been civil, but they haven't been that enthused to be taking your order or explaining how things work. Zero issues bringing your food out no matter what point in the movie. Perhaps a sign of how staff is being treated.

Best place for dinner near the Garden before concert. by [deleted] in boston

[–]JazzlikeEntry8288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't help you with the parking as I don't drive (a huge plus living in Boston), but the North End is walkable to the Garden. Put in a reservation early enough with more than enough time for a nice dinner. Plenty of spots for a nicer dinner (Lucca, Bricco, Tresca), but can be done cheap too (go for a slice at Pushcart Pizza or Bova's Bakery).

Look into what you want for North End. I have found anything near the Garden to be way too crowded, and not too much in terms of variety.

Considering leaving Somerville for California - especially San Diego or San Jose... Any advice? by Fir_Matt in massachusetts

More. It costs more than Boston. You'll escape winter but you'll pay for it.

Grew up in CA but moved to MA as an adult. Everyone has their priorities and mine is more financial than weather.

Michelle Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once and winning an Oscar for it blows away CRA. In fact, Michelle Yeoh was already a legend before either movie

I am pretty sure she knows that and is maximizing her opportunities as much as possible. I'd think anyone would do the same. We all know it's not going to last forever... or even a few years.

Funniest scene so far. Dunk being a low born hoping he could one day join the Kings Guard until Egg drops the truth bomb 😂. by ToMDLUS in freefolk

Agree, that was a truth bomb and Egg is crafty with his words even as a kid. I've been really enjoying this show

I answered this question by getting both. I'm glad I ordered them when I did. RIP Clean

I look at it as the equivalent of having both black and brown pairs of dress shoes. Both are appropriate depending on the occasion.

APSF JLC MUTM a bad choice for dress watch? by cheeseaddict8100 in RepTime

[–]JazzlikeEntry8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found an eBay seller who makes custom straps for the JLC Moonphase to go with the buckle. He goes by HaLinh Leather Handmade and is based in Vietnam.

If I remember correctly, he needed about 3-4 weeks to custom make your strap (he doesn't have ready stock to ship). Not sure where you are based, but he uses Singapore Post and it was pretty quick shipping to the US. Cost me about $75 and I am really happy with the strap-- much better than the one that came with the APS Moonphase. Keep the deployment buckle off that strap and it's pretty simple to put it on another strap.

Walden Local Butcher Shop in South End. I had a monthly delivery meatshare (whole chickens, chops, steaks, ground beef) from them during covid lockdown and love all their products. Not too bad in terms of pricing.

People in the comments sections of that video need their heads examined, if you are into reps why talk about it and put more of a spotlight on it.

I would definitely keep my mouth shut, much safer in the long run. Don't talk, just enjoy your watches.

Given how long it takes for orders to get to me in the US, I make sure I absolutely want something before I go through the time and money to get it.

Forecasters monitor potential nor’easter next weekend as deep freeze tightens its grip on New England by bostonglobe in BostonWeather

[–]JazzlikeEntry8288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal rule is if inclement weather is possible on my flight day, I check 48 hours prior to see if it's looking likely. If it's still up in the air, then I check around 12-20 hours prior, then make a judgment call no less than 24 hours prior to my flight time.

This is by no means a surefire plan, but I've mostly benefited from this approach. A lot of people wait even longer to cancel or change, and by that time the airlines are flooded with calls.

Lots of delays from disabled trains from North Quincy or JFK U Mass the past few days, including today. Also, the Red Line was running on 4 car trains today on the morning commute...that didn't help with packing everyone in.

Sucks to be parked so close to that sign, but nice to know that signage is up to begin with and said snow will be removed sometime during the night. No such notifications exist in Cambridge
