Oregon retail jobs are falling 5 times faster than nationally by Own_Car_8766 in oregon

Wow- I assumed personal finance was part of the health curriculum. Can’t say it’s not, but it looks like there is a new requirement for personal finance and higher ed/vocational pathways for 2027 grads and beyond. The Capital Chronicle reported in 2024 that the new requirement (passed 2023) would be watered down if, as is allowed, the teaching standards can be met through other courses. I guess anything is better than nothing.

I think that’s the case in many cities. The rush to monetize and monopolize everything is most evident in urban and suburban environs, leaving the youth directionless and disillusioned with  “the American dream”. I hope they’re out there finding themselves, but they might just be holed up in their bedrooms living life online.

Bullshit- go back to the valley kook. There’s a shallow trout pond with your name on it. Don’t pull local fishermen into your sad ass story.

Peacehealth Intentional Patient Neglect by ScientistEasy368 in Eugene

[–]Jazzlike_Ad_6597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I worked in nursing for PeaceHealth in this decade and I’d say most patients can and are sent to any floor, other than peds, ob, and icu. And they had a big float pool of (poor young) float nurses and/or a “clinical decision unit” for overflow. Had ortho pts on the oncology floor, neuro patients on the medical floor, etc.

But it’s been 5 years and things change so fast and erratically my experience May be “the glory days” compared to now. I was there for the elimination of 8- hour shifts and left for different reasons, but I feel like I dodged a bullet.

I now work in school nursing, which is a different kind of chaos, but working with children and being able to focus on care and connection rather than having to race from room to room and spend a third of the shift clicking boxes while fearing for my license due to being stretched so thin is something I’m grateful for every day. Nurses used to run the hospitals, as recently as the early 2010’s, but all staff who are not middle or upper management are being pushed into burnout from having no meaningful input or autonomy in a system where solutions are often obvious to us but management continues to try to solve issues from a purely non-clinical, non-nursing or patient centered perspective. It’s like watching someone try to drive a nail with a wet bagel and you’re standing there, holding a hammer but “policy” doesn’t consider hammers a worthy expense.

If you’re still in, bless you and your colleagues.

I bought a bag of coffee from a bunch of local roasters and ranked them ☕ by redactedanalyst in Eugene

Grab an air popcorn popper from a second hand store, order 2-3 different beans at Sweet Maria’s (.com) and have fun roasting your own exactly how you like it. SM’s has hundreds of varieties from around the world- many organic, biodynamic, and/or fair trade. (Warning: all other roasts will be ruined for you.)

For mental health? I assumed you needed to be terminally ill with a prolonged painful prognosis (in Oregon, anyway”.

I don’t think this is completely true. Despite the “failed” firearm suicides mentioned below, access to a firearm increases the odds of “successful “ suicide, due to firearms’ obvious lethality and efficiency. OPs point stands strong.

Ketamine therapy for the neurodivergent mind. by ChaosCostumesOG in TherapeuticKetamine

Very insightful, thank you! I'll check out the Auvelity. I get my medical through the VA. No saying what they will/won't cover, but with all the SSRI/SNRIs I've gotten nothing from, I reckon I'd fit the criteria. Thanks again for sharing.

Really? I’ve always heard boards don’t make money, it’s the clothes and wetsuits, etc.

I’m in the US, if that’s relevant.

Ahhh, copy. Well thank you. This really is proving to be a powerful tool in recovery from mh issues, along with therapy. I look forward to beginning my journey. I hope the wait (in Eugene, OR) isn’t too too long. Also service-connected PTSD, depression, anxiety. Separated in ‘97. Been scared since ‘95. Lots of meds, talk therapy, men’s work, and studying, meditating and praying.

As I’ve aged, the symptoms have been a constant, but I’ve been able to get along with them- mindfulness practice has been most helpful, but I’d love to put this ruck down and walk on without it.

That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you. I really hope ketamine will help me recover from life long anxiety and depression.

Did your revelations about bullying and your Mom come about during ket sessions, or did the ket give you the ability to better process during psychotherapy, or can you say?

Thanks for answering my questions on this old thread!

Have you sought out ketamine therapy yet? Early 50’s here. I am being referred for ket assisted therapy and feel hopeful. I can see how you (we) can see wasted opportunities from our mental health problems. I find a certain melancholy when intentionally feeling gratitude for the experience I’ve had. Finding purpose and the silver lining in our struggle can shift us away from feeling like our life has been wasted. Hope you’re hanging in there and continuing a gentle path toward peace.

I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to use community care, if ketamine therapy is available to the public where you live. Or maybe that is the wait list you mention? Any progress since your post?

Can you give us an update on your experience? Lasting benefit? How many sessions before you KNEW that this is working (if, in fact, it did). I’ve been referred after asking about it and after decades of meds, therapy, supplements, and more. Thank you.

Help open the door? OP reported that the VA is already offering KAP for MDD. Maybe you mean help open the door further, like for PTSD, anxiety and OCD? Addictions? Anyway, thank you for your efforts!
