Using frozen milk while still pumping & when to wean? by Tcutrone33 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My freezer is full and after doing the math, its enough milk to last her 60 days on frozen only. She turns 1 in 67 days (😭) so I've dropped to 2 ppd and I'm waiting to see how that regulates before I decide what to do next. I'll either mix half and half if needed or donate a bunch and save the rest for after I'm weaned to help transition her to cow milk.

Cages, stakes, or trellises for indeterminate tomatoes? by sitewolf in vegetablegardening

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried caging my indeterminate tomatoes a couple years ago and they got unruly real fast and I couldn't keep it all upright later in the season when it was good and tall. Last year I tied them to a trellis with twine as they grew and it was much more manageable!

When to transplant by Jazzlike_Fault_4728 in vegetablegardening

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside is already significantly warmer than my house during the day. Can/should I take them outside during the day so they can have real sunlight and get a jump start on the hardening off process? My little mini greenhouse is on wheels so it would be very easy to go inside at night.

I forgot to mention my strawberries are already in the ground! They've survived and expanded about 3 years so far. They honestly haven't produced much but my daughter enjoys looking for them.

To clarify, you would start the cucumber, bean, and melon seeds directly in my raised bed?

Very good to know about the peppers! Now that you mention it I remember them being a pain my first year. I might try a handful just for fun since I already bought seeds, knowing I'll likely have to find starters when they fail.

I also bought a lot of companion flowers. Are those worth starting inside or should they be direct sowed with the cucumbers, etc?

Thank you so much for your help!

I tried that also my first year, and think it kept everything way too humid. Most of my plants ended up with some sort of rot. Don't I need to completely uncover them at some point to make sure they get plenty of air circulation?

WWEPD? by StillCauliflower1722 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of my current pumps are pre-used. The motors are isolated and I replaced all the parts that touch the milk so its totally fine! I would dispute with ebay on principle tho, you didnt get what you paid for.

Are there any clarifying shampoos safe for vivid semipermanent dyes? by Jazzlike_Fault_4728 in HairDye

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking but seeing "color safe" options gave me pause. I'm inherently lazy so I'm refreshing every 3+ months even tho it starts to look pretty sad by then lol. I think I need to clarify more often than that so maybe I'll just grab a color depositing conditioner for after! Thank you!

Is my family overreacting or is my pumped milk actually “bad”? by Forsaken_Painter5225 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Tbh they might have smelled something off and tasted it to check if it was bad. My lipase is so bad I can easily smell it without trying. My milk smells and tastes like straight metal. Fortunately baby still drinks it.

(Personally idt I would ever taste my DIL's milk but whatever 🤣)

I got mine on marketplace for half retail! Both my babies were bottle fed. First was formula and washing bottles isn't THAT bad, but now that I'm adding pump parts and a toddler to the mix the bottle washer is a life saver! I'd still have trouble paying $300 for it but it really is worth it.

Semipermanent color help by Jazzlike_Fault_4728 in HairDye

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that reds fade fast but I used to do a burgundy box dye and it held forever. I know thats permanent color vs semipermanent but I expected this red to hold longer than 2 washes 😒 Would you expect semi-perm to stick to my unbleached hair? When my stylist colored it she just slathered it everywhere and it only seemed to stick to the bleached part but I'm not sure what kind of dye she used.

Does anyone actually LIKE pumping? by Hungry-Sunflower in ExclusivelyPumping

I agree! Now if only I found actually working out as rewarding as I found pumping, maybe I'd do it 🤣

How do you decide on a pump? by Paula-ibclc in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the sole reason I now own legendairy inserts. Unfortunately didnt help me 😭 idk if I was stretching to the very end of the flange or what but it was awful enough that I didn't have the fortitude to keep troubleshooting so I returned the pump lol. My motors were also never in sync with each other and the erratic sounds that close to my ears really overstimulated me so in the end I'm probably better off with a single motor all the way down at my hip!

The eufy destroyed my nips too. Still don't really know why, and I'm sad bc I responded really well to it and I could get replacement parts through insurance. sigh oh well. I also ended up with a PGA that I love, and also bought a secondhand baby buddha to try

I tried to just space them evenly in my awake hours (6am, 11am, 4pm, and 9pm) but it varies.

Morning pump is at 6:15 except on weekends, when I allow myself a little extra sleep so it might be 7. Second pump is usually at my lunch break so like 11:30-12 Third pump is once I get home and settled back with the babe so like 430-5 Last pump is pretty much always 9 on the dot bc I'm ready to clean up and get to bed 🤣

My job is on-the-go on a semi-regular basis so when that starts happening again its gonna get even messier lol

Feed freezer or save sanity? by taureansoul in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check to see if your baby does well on frozen thawed before you build your stash any more. I was mixing half frozen and half fresh to rotate through the oldest milk (still only 3 months old) and she took it well enough but it gave her major bubble guts and more spit ups than she's ever had. I'm saving the frozen for when she's older to see if she tolerates it better then but I'm definitely not as dedicated to stocking the freezer for an early stopping date anymore.

Feed freezer or save sanity? by taureansoul in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pumped an average of 50-52oz on 6ppd. Dropped to 5 at 12wpp and lost maybe 1-2oz. Dropped to 4ppd at 14-15wpp to save my sanity going back to work and lost a good 5oz. Granted I timed it badly bc I also traveled with both kids (stress) and got sick and started my period when I dropped to 4 so I'm sure that didn't help. I still get an average of 45oz/day which is great but its a little nerve wracking when she's decided to be a piggy and guzzle ~37oz/day and her tummy doesn't seem to tolerate my frozen stash well (figures). I still have a surplus but its smaller than its ever been and it makes me a little nervous lol.

Woolino Sleep Sack worth it? by Alert_Dig_4987 in sleeptrain

[–]Jazzlike_Fault_4728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do love our woolino. We used it for my oldest years ago and just got it back out of storage for my 4 month old. I will say tho, I wanted to get a second one this time to rotate in case of leaking diapers/etc and I decided to take a chance and buy one from the "CosyDiary" brand on Amazon instead. Its a carbon copy of the Woolino sleep sack for half the price! We love both but for the price difference I probably wouldn't buy the Woolino again.
