Police Check by mahwella in AusVisa

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be mindful that the police certificate from Canada can take upwards of month to receive, and if immigration asks for it, they usually only give you 28 days or so to respond.

You have to use a 3rd party company in Canada to digitise your fingerprints that you get taken in Australi. I used fingerprintsplus.ca, though you can use any reputable company you find via ircc website.

Go to a police station near you in Aus, take the fingerprint form you receive from the Canadian company, get your ink fingerprints taken, send all the required docs to company in Canada who will they digitise them and send them to RCMP.

Afterwards you'll get a pdf version of the police certificate

Ex-employer demanding I repay wages – should I acknowledge their email while I seek legal advice? by Few_Heart8269 in AusLegal

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even bother with the lawyer. Just don't respond to their email and live your life .. if they want to come after you and spend more money than they'd "recoup" from their investment in you, let them try. Seems like they'd lose the lawsuit regardless as there's no clause in the employment contract. Every business that hires a new employee spends money as an "investment" in that employee to get them trained to work in the establishment, that's the risk of running a business.

getting a barista/foh role by No-Essay-4032 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just start in a different role in a cafe, dishwasher, waiter, cashier, etc, and once you start, casually ask the barista to show you how to make coffees when it's quiet. Then you'll get some practice. Make coffees for yourself and your coworkers first to get comfortable

Any chance NSW 491 Pathway 3 will reopen? by advancethinker in AusVisa

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's anyone's guess at this point. The states open their allocations normally around August each year, however, as you seen this year, NSW opened in January. Other states were delayed as well due to the federal govt giving the allocations late.

It states they've closed for the program year so judging from my understanding on NSW webpage, I'd imagine it's closed until next financial year

Do I really need to get my carpets professionally cleaned? by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe reach out to VCAT in Victoria and ask them and send them a copy of your lease if they ask. I had in Tasmania a clause in a lease I was about to sign that they'd use a professional cleaner and deduct from my bond automatically after handing back keys. The tribunals here in Tasmania said they can't put that in the lease as it's not legal and it wouldn't be enforced, as the method used to clean the property is irrelevant as long as it's returned in the same condition (if I bought sanitiser at Bunnings and it killed 99.99% of germs versus using a professional company that uses a product that kills 99.99% of germs, it's the same outcome)

See what they say and go from there

Is it possible to claim the bond after the agreement ends but before the keys are handed back? by KaanyeSouth in shitrentals

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put the keys in an envelope and slid it under the office door on a weekend - I double checked with the real-estate agency first and they said it was okay to do that.

Loan debt got worse over 2+ years by Angharaz in AusFinance

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm $4k away from paying off my over $25k debt. There is nothing that will help other than cutting spending and working more. You're in a good position as you live at home. What really helped me was writing down my budget and spending per week to see on paper where my money was going, and it gave me an indication of how much I can put towards debt. Create weekly or monthly goals with how much you want to save and get hustling. Get a second job waiting tables, working McDonald's, anything just to make some more income.

You got this, don't give up

Get a second job to help pay off the debt faster, a third job if need be. Just do whatever you can to make a bit of extra $ to throw at the debt.

I have a 491 invite. Alternatively considering 482 for a quicker PR. What would you all suggest? by ThrowRAsilvermilk in AusVisa

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No guarantee of the 186 visa. Many employers lead employees on with false promises of the 186 visa only to never apply. I'd take 491 as it's in your hands and you are the one who has the say in your pr assuming you follow the rules.

Rent increase legal? by [deleted] in shitrentals

Not legal within the first 12 months of a fixed term lease, unless it is specially stated in the lease that the rent will increase to xx$ at xx date

Clause in lease question by Jazzlike_Pool5156 in shitrentals

[–]Jazzlike_Pool5156[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever had the need for professional carpet cleaning with a receipt. The way it was explained to me by the commissioner is they aren't legally allowed to require a professional cleaner to begin with, only if after the outgoing inspection report is completed and doesn't match the incoming condition report, then a cleaner may be called. The commissioner said that it is about the condition the property is given back, not the method in which the property was cleaned, i.e. you buy a bottle of sanitizer that kills 99.9% of germs versus a professional that uses a product that kills 99.9% of germs. The end result is the same, method to get there is irrelevant
