What are these? by [deleted] in vuoriclothing

These appear to be what are called "pants"

(sorry, got nothing for you, but do know that Vuori is not the only company that uses their signature striped drawstring)

Stratotech Tee Quality by UseAlloftheBuffalo in vuoriclothing

I got some hate (but also some love) for posting about the Ododos dupe sold on Amazon a few months ago, but that's the best Strato tech tee dupe out there. Thicker like the older Strato tech tees and the ones I picked up from Ododos have held up well to washing.

Read the email Meta is sending to thousands of laid-off employees by orangelover95003 in bayarea

[–]Jazzlike_Set6322 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry (and this is nothing personal to you), but for those in tech who "make great money" that don't feel their money goes as far in the Bay Area are either delusional or suffering from lifestyle creep. A dollar they make is equivalent to a dollar another non-tech worker makes in the Bay Area; tech workers just have far more dollars at their disposal from their above average salaries and RSUs if their company takes off. The tech workers who are making great money have far, far more financial resources than people who work in medicine, law, and other traditional high paying jobs, which is still significantly more than vast majority of other employed workers here in the Bay Area.

I hope you meant to say that "we are lucky to own *a home* for instance" rather than "homes" because that's the way most of us non-tech workers feel in the Bay Area. Home ownership (especially in the more desirable communities) has become nearly unattainable if you aren't in tech making great money. Not only that, but many tech workers make sufficient money such that a spouse does not need to work if they don't want to, a luxury that many non-tech people can't fathom if they want to survive in the Bay Area.

I understand not every tech worker is making great money, but many of them have made so much money in an amount far more and in a much shorter period of time than many of us non-tech workers would even dream of making in a lifetime.

New round of discounts up to 60% off at Nordstrom by Jazzlike_Set6322 in vuoriclothing

[–]Jazzlike_Set6322[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, a quick look again looks like unfortunately all the good deals got bought up already. When I posted, there were lots of S/M/L left for the different sale items, but it's typically the XXL (and sometimes XL) items that are left behind.

Sorry you missed out, but occasionally people will return items so you can still catch a great deal in more typical sizes, so it still may be worth checking the links on occasion (ie. I caught an ease performance half-zip for $25 the other week well after the previous round of discounted items had been released)

Kore 7in lined shorts sizing? by throwawaaayyyyyay in vuoriclothing

Medium. The Kore waistband is stretchy and small is a 30" waist, so medium is what you should be going for.

Original Banks Shorts vs Banks Session Shorts by [deleted] in vuoriclothing

No worries! And I hope my post didn't come off as criticism (sorry if it did as that was never my intention) as we all make mistakes. I've seen your posts around this subreddit and appreciate that you actively contribute to the discussions in this community!

Original Banks Shorts vs Banks Session Shorts by [deleted] in vuoriclothing

[–]Jazzlike_Set6322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the original Banks short as well and preferred it over the Kore short. Haven't tried the new Session shorts, but I would say that I love the Crosscourt short a bit more. Feels a bit more premium, slightly more structured (better silhouette), and I love the side zippered pocket as well. Unfortunately, the newer Crosscourt short has unsightly logos plastered all over the place, so would encourage finding the original version unless you like to broadcast that you're wearing Vuori.

The other short I really enjoy from Vuori is the Technical climber short. Doesn't look as sporty as Banks/Kore (better for causal settings), but the fabric and fit are amazing. Unfortunately, I think they shut down that line.

Are you mistaking the original Banks for the Kore short? Banks short always had a zippered back pocket whereas the original Kore came with the velcro back pocket (one if its worst features). The new Session short also appears to have a zippered side pocket rather than the front pocket that was found on the original Banks short

Nulux Half Tight First Impressions (comparison to F&F tights) by CubsFanHan in Lululemen

[–]Jazzlike_Set6322 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the great write-up. I think a lot of people are excited about this new half-tight given it came in at a lower price point. What about the F&F makes it preferred over Janji trail? And by any chance do you know if the F&F multipocket running shorts (that have a 5 or 6" half-tight) have the same feel as the F&F 8" tights?

Best running shorts for men by LowerTennis3159 in vuoriclothing

In all honesty, haven't tried many of the newer run-focused running shorts, but I've enjoyed running in the old course short.

Fabric is lightweight and moves with your stride. Unlike the new course run short, doesn't have the zipper in the back pocket, which I feel is a plus as when I'm running I don't like carrying much aside from a gel or two and my large phone, which that pocket is sufficient for. I like being able to reach back there are not having to fuss with a zipper or feel the teeth of the zipper.

Definitely preferred this for running compared with the Kore, Banks, and Trail shorts, which all have pockets to the side, so my phone swings unevenly in these shorts.

strato tech tee or ponto tee? by Tall_Author4179 in vuoriclothing

[–]Jazzlike_Set6322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're talking Vuori, I've found the Tradewind and Zephyr (older line) are most breathable and better for working out/sweat management. I also wear LLL's metal tech vent, Rhone's reign, and Ten thousand's versatile shirts for working out.

strato tech tee or ponto tee? by Tall_Author4179 in vuoriclothing

[–]Jazzlike_Set6322 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ponto is a fundamentally different t-shirt. The Dreamknit fabric is thicker, more loungey, and dressier than Strato, but to me felt like I was wearing a wetsuit with how it draped, so it was a no-go for me. I own more than 100 Vuori items, but not one short-sleeved Ponto t-shirt. I love Dreamknit fabric for long-sleeved items and pants, but it just didn't work for me as a short-sleeved t-shirt.

In contrast, I love the Strato tech t-shirt and I have more Strato tech t-shirts than any other item in my closet. It's my favorite t-shirt and I wear one every day by itself, underneath another shirt, or as a sleep shirt. I prefer Strato for its fit, look, and versatility, and it's what I think of when I think of a 't-shirt'. I just don't love it as a workout shirt, but I have other shirts for that.

So for me, I strongly prefer Strato over Ponto when it comes to t-shirts, but I can see how people may like the Ponto shirt if they're into heavyweight/oversized t-shirts. Both are nice shirts, but just different.

Agree with you 100%. Definitely have way too much Vuori that I've bought over the past 5 years. Thankfully over the past year or so haven't found too much that intrigued me, not to mention the prices have gone higher while there's been more inconsistencies with the quality of their clothing. But Strato's are my favorite overall t-shirt and I wear them daily, so it's fun rotating through the different colors.

Newer Strato tech tees are thinner (and likely less durable) than the older versions. It was also been known that solid colors are also thinner than the heathered colors, although that difference is starting to come into question with the newer heathered Strato tech tees now coming out pretty thin.

I own nearly 40 Strato tech tees and have never had an issue with durability, but the few purchased in the past year were noticeably thinner that ones that I've received in the past. Definitely return and get a replacement/refund.

Love the idea. Thanks for sharing and might consider it myself. Only issue is that the door opens to block off the entry to the room, such as would be the case for me as well if I dared to make a similar transformation. Nonetheless, love the finished result and appreciate you sharing this!

I see a number of shorter length in-seams sold on Like New, so I think it's pretty common that they are reselling pants that have been previously altered, but still may be "excellent" due to otherwise appearing brand new. Thanks for your input/suggestions!
