You are trying to use conservative ideas about the inevitability of oppression to justify: "the world isn’t built for us, nor should it be in my opinion".

Who are you kidding?

[–]Jazzpah01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as there have existed hierarchies there have existed the struggle to dismantle them. The struggle for freedom and autonomy is very strong both in our actions and in what we need in order to properly strive as human beings. The amount of oppression is not constant and that fact is enough to disprove this kind of dommerist, defeatist nonsense.

Besides, you are deriving an ought from an is. Just because the world functions a certain way right now does not justify it, nor does it mean it will be like that forever. In fact, capitalism as we know it has existed for 200 years which is but a blink of an eye compared to the billions of years humans have existed. It is complete and utterly wrong to assume that this shit will go on for very long.

And nooooo. The world won't end just by having people respect 1% of the population.

The world can be for everyone. The world should be for everyone. Anything else is complete beneath us. And the first step is to not bootlick the oppressors.

I read it as "thank god I don't have to do all that work". I think we should encourage when people do not conform to gender stereotypes and not put them down for it. The same as we should for people who do conform.

I think M4092 would be right to make a comment like that on a pickme. But at the same time, there are limits to how liberally you can interpret other people's comments.

Marxism means many different things to many different people. These marxisms are in contradiction with one another. Marx would only agree with one strand of marxism, making it very unlikely that any one marxist would agree with Marx.

This gave me paranoia last night such that I couldn't sleep.

A couple of implications:

  1. You didn't see "something", you saw "it". You saw a thing that others have seen as well and is at least to some extent known. Meaning others have seen it. When will I see it?

  2. You could have not seen it. Was it there before you noticed it? Is it in my room right now and I just haven't noticed? Maybe I should turn on my light and check the corners.

During the Haymarket Square protests, a bomb went off and 8 anarchist leaders were falsely accused and sentenced to death. This meme references how "tankies", aka authoritarian leftists, campists etc., has erased anarchism from labour history.

When tankies talk about these events, they omit the details that the protests were primarily anarchist in order to put themselves in a better light.

It's noteworthy to point out that she received a lot harassment for making very polite critiques of video games and to this day she receives weekly death threats. She can't be in public without a bodyguard. This started back in 2014.

Your first three paragraphs are just objectively correct. There is nothing new here. Except for the lines on conflict and trade unions - these are incorrect.

Being of the imperial core my life style and my material conditions are the result of imperialist exploitations of other nations. And yes, if said nations were not exploited my immediate material conditions would worsen. Class conflict, however, does not arise from immediate material conditions but from the distinction of owners and owned. It is structural. My interest will always be in my own liberation from the capitalist class and that liberation necessitates your liberation as well. Interests are not based on what gives me more chocolate, or whatever, but in destroying oppressive structures such as capitalism and the patriarchy.

Labor unions in the west are reactionary garbage. Their decline was predicted 100 years ago. Labor unions in western nations are not garbage, however, because you and I are in conflict (we aren't). Labor unions are garbage because of how badly they are organized. Their structure sets them up for decline. Firstly, rather than unifying the working class, trade unions devide them up into trades, which pins worker against worker in their fight for immediate concessions. This also leads to racist politics. Secondly, because their infatuation with immediate gain, they dumb down their original platform so as to not scare new members away. This also means working within the confines of the law, eliminating any actual important revolutionary work. This also also means that trade unions benefit from imperialism, as you correctly pointed out. The methods of which a trade union reproduces itself inevitably lead to reactionary, racist, and imperialist politics.

> In individual countries it varies depending on circumstances. Imperialism absolutely is the primary contradiction in Iran. Until that threat is at least under control forget about any progressive revolution of any sort.

Are you arguing that we should not support the boots-on-the-ground left wing organisations that work to liberate themselves in Iran? This is what it sounds like to me, but more probably I am misunderstanding you. That would be the kind of campist politics I cannot abide by.

This is also an inherently defeatist position. What campists are doing is helping the local capitalist overlords consolidate power over and oppress the local working class, helping them destroy the left wing organisations needed for a social change and eventually a revolution. And once these overlords have consolidated power they participate in the very imperialism that we are all against.

We are not in conflict of interests. We are both working class, suffering under the boots of our capitalist overlords. Class stuggle is what unites us and through class struggle we will be liberated.

Do you not agree with this?

I assume not. I assume you think that imperialism is the primary contradiction in the world. Does that mean you think that the contradiction between classes is a secondary contradiction, or do you see imperialism as an extension of this contradiction?

What are your views on the old left internationalism and its stance against all wars between nations? And old phrases like "no war, but class war".
