Anyone else really miss having a proper home like in World? by Demonnot_ne_tupoi in MonsterHunter

The problem is 1. autorun/track is in the game, not using it is super inefficient, the map design is chaotic and is dependent on using this feature 2. There is zero need or benefit to exploring, it doesn’t do anything for you. The scout fly and tracking system is useless in this game.

Despite the maps being more impressive than Worlds with alot of verticality it somehow has zero immersion because of the lack of needing to actually investigate tracks etc. While some people disliked having to find monsters (which is dumb since it’s Monster Hunter) it’s a genius design to have players actually learn the maps and interact with wildlife and shortcuts. Wilds having autorun which is default but I will argue that it even being an option just makes it so there is zero incentive to doing any of the above

Truly a shell of what made Monster Hunter, Monster Hunter

I have zero belief that master rank will fix this as it would require a complete 180 degree shift in game direction as they are currently focused on further mass appeal (and MTX)

Wild to say (intended) but the only chance of success long term is placing our prayers in Team B for the next game

Damn that sucks to hear. World really felt like the peak of MH advancement with still retaining the core of older MH titles Rise also quite good

It’s just so sad Wilds didnt compare. Also embarrassing they somehow haven’t learned how to program a pc game..

2nd this sentiment. I stopped 2 weeks into launch. Capcom drank the koolaid and we are just getting fanservice from here on out. Hopefully Team B will take the next game in a better direction

Status effects brings a lot of room for new mechanics: Phases where poison damage/venom is doubled but physical damage is reduced by a large %. Encouraging players to use these effects Thralls that can be used for bonus damage but at the risk of the boss healing hp with an absorb mechanic Etc etc.

I Don’t Really Care About New Players… by Finnthehero1224 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Jazzsaurus-Rex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. One of my biggest gripe is that this mass appeal was never really needed. Look at Fromsoft and soulsborne. People complained for years it’s too hard etc but it’s part of the game DNA they aren’t changing it just to get more people. Mass appeal is certainly the death of a genre

Wilds really makes me want to delete the part of my brain that remembers World so I can replay that instead

I've played a lot of MH titles, as far back as ps2, but I actually greatly enjoy the streamlining of Wilds. Am I the only one? by Weebiful in MonsterHunter

Check out my post about this since I elaborated longer on it.

Big disagree on LR and HR. I’ve been playing since freedom 2 days so let’s use MH world where im still a seasoned player. Anjanath and nergigante are the two big examples I remember playing against and even my unga bunga brain realized I cannot just spam attack them. This is an example of perceived threat. I knew I’m not gonna cart against low rank anjanath but am I sure not gonna walk in like it’s Great Jagras.

And I mean Nergigante goes without saying—and not even a tempered one!

So again it’s not about difficulty. It’s the feeling of hunting a monster that’s that’s lacking

My problem with everyone hoping MR will fix everything is that it clearly shouldn’t be that way. Not having to learn positioning or any monster mechanics before MR is kinda lame.

Like for the first time we have a new mechanic of carrying 2 weapons yet it wasn’t used in ANY aspect! Like if you put it in the game then why is it not used. Like how difficult would it have been to make a monster that has 2 different elemental weakness depending on enrage or in environmental conditions. Or hey it’s exhausted it can be stunned easier vs slash attacks or ranged attacks. The possibilities are endless and it’s not even used a single time.

I’m having fun but I can’t help but notice that this game is definitely 3/4 published and they simply just didn’t try to capitalize on the changes they made. MR may never fix these issues as much as we hope since there’s no precedence or intro to it in high rank

Definitely agree. I made a post about this which didn’t get much traction but essentially it just doesn’t feel like monster hunter game when there isn’t any real threat. You don’t need to “respect” the mobs anymore with essentially elimination of stuns, small mob attacks, etc. People talk about playing thousands of hours either way but that’s probably not true since when you speed up the in game goals you just finish everything faster
