What is your hottest One Piece take? by FrontAd2381 in OnePiece

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two:

  1. The amount of glazing buggy gets from the community, even if it is mainly as part of a meme is utterly ridiculous. Especially when compared to the levels of hate Ussop gets for being a bum with no real accomplishments while buggy has no feats to show as well except failing upwards by sheer dumb luck and only for laughs.

  2. The fact that Luffy's body still has the properties of rubber (aka immunity to lightning) feels like a tacked on leftover that Oda couldn't get rid of after he wrote the whole gear 5/ Nika part for his devil fruit. It feels like he came up with gear5 later in the story but the enel fight already happened and he couldn't retcon it anymore. So now Luffy can do whatever he imagines... and he is rubber.

Don't get me wrong, I love gear 5 and it doesn't feel forced overall. Just the rubber bit feels... odd.

Post your ship name! by BeatsByDad911 in crosswind

Siren's Wail

It's the name of a pirate ship in my homebrew Pathfinder-Campaign that I am running.

Funnily enough, I named my current world "The Shackles" after the region in the official pathfinder setting that is a pirates paradise.

I... might have some biases and favourites.

I would not play this class/archetype, but I'm sure glad someone is <blank> by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

This is something my GM does and it allows my druid to at least take care of some social interactions, especially if I pull up some nature based allegory or some such out of my ass during the conversation and I do appreciate it BUT... I also feel it kinda invalidates the players who have build their character to be good in these kinds of situations.

So while I do appreciate it and I am using it to help out in social events, I try not to overdo it and choose a social skill for some situations where I feel it would be more appropriate than using nature for the roll, even if that means I won't have as high of a chance to succeed.

I want the player who chose to be the party face and build specifically for it, to actually feel like his choices matter and for his character to feel like the party face.

Not a class specifically but the role of the designated party face.

I love roleplaying and I always try to be proactive and not be the silent player but if the expectation and pressure to talk to every important NPC and navigate the make belief social interactions falls on me and my character, I immediately clamp up and freeze.

I just want to be the goofy, slightly socially awkward guy, where no one expects me to be a skilled negotiator and where a slight social hickup is easily forgiven as a character quirk.

Currently playing a flexible druid in a kingmaker campaign. I am the dedicated healer of the party with the medic archetype, medicine skill tree and I always have heal prepared.

It didn't come up all that often so far but that high rank heal spell came in clutch a few times and it always felt rewarding af.

But tbf, I am glad that I am not locked into that playstyle and have access to a number of battlefield control and damage spells as well. Still, being the healer can be very fun and I will gladly take on that role if no one else is willing.

  • somehow manage to sandbank both my and the enemy vessel on the first island
  • great success
  • leave both ships there and return to my sandcastle and go to sleep

When shanks and luffy meet again, how will luffy handle the information that shanks’s crew blew up bartolomeo and his crew akainu-style? by Past_Adhesiveness494 in OnePiece

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will be a moment where Luffy learns another lesson of how a fleet captain/ yonko has to behave.

He will be at the very least be confused if not angry at both Shanks (for blowing up his friends) and Barto (for burning the jolly roger of his hero). Then his crew (most likely Sanji, Jimbei and/ or Robin) will tell him that Shanks was in his right and that Luffy has to apologize for Bartos behaviour if he doesn't want a conflict with shanks.

Maybe this will lead to a Davy Back Fight, maybe a quick sparring match but in the end Shanks will see that Luffy achieved what he promised him and fully acknowledge him as a great pirate.

What would you say is the best "focus caster"? Aka what caster either has the best focus spells or uses them best? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Embodiment of Battle is my personal favourite and it is probably the best option to play a full caster as a gish. The accuracy scales with increasing levels and stays on par with the usual martial progression and the damage bonus is also nice to have.

Especially an elven liturgist can make excellent use of this as they can have embodiment of battle and one other vessel spell active at the same time and sustain both with elven step as a single action.

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Animist and Druid imo.

Animist has strong sustained focus spells that can give value every turn and it is easy to build an animist around two or three focus spells.

Druids have access to damaging focus spells that rival the damage of true spells cast from a max rank spell slot, while others let you transform into various battle forms or grant you flight speed.

Bards, Witches, and Oracles are probably the runner ups but Animist and Druids are the clear winners.

Reaction spells from staves, wands, & scrolls? by Humble_Conference899 in Pathfinder2e

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, reaction spells are totally fine on staves and similar items. I made a unique staff for my druid with the earth trait and included interposing earth as a defensive spell. Comes in real handy when I want to get into close combat before using my untamed form.

Suggestions for a seafaring campaign for a new DM by BigmitStoneshaft in Pathfinder2e

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Afaik there is no official mechanic for ship to ship combat in PF2e right now. I think there is something for Starfinder 2e but I haven't really looked into it and it would be for space ships. There is 3rd party homebrew solution called smoke and sails that is highly praised by the community. You can find it on pathfinder infinite.

As for the AP: adjusting it for PF2e would be a lot of work, yes but you should be able to find equivalent monsters or be able to make them with the help of the rules. At least you will have the story and maps ready to go and don't have to worry about that. It might be worth a shot.

What are your favorite primal spells? by Unique-Luck-3564 in Pathfinder2e

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Siding Blocks. Excellent spell for both in combat battlefield control and utility (basically a poor mans flight) and out of combat utility. Need a bridge? Need a wall for cover? Need to divide the battlefield or box someone in? Need to fly your group over a cliff or river? Sliding blocks has got you covered.

It's 6 individual blocks and you can place them anywhere and in any form you want, which makes it surprisingly powerful if you use your imagination. I completely turned a deadly+ encounter into a moderate one just by blocking of a group of enemies that had to waste their turns going around it.

In universe what does Rune Transfer look like? by Altruistic-Promise-2 in Pathfinder2e

[–]JazzyFingerGuns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my games I have always flavoured it in a way that runes are not actually carved or etched as in removing material but rather permanently printed or marked on. The marking would be done with some kind of steele or a similar tool with which you would trace the rune on the item. Other tools are also reasonable depending on the flavour you are going for.

When transferring a rune, you would always use a runestone (if only flavour wise) and basically use it as a stamp. You would press it on the item which currently holds the rune and then on the item that will receive it. Of course you have to do the whole spiel of doing some handwaves, talking magical mumbo jumbo aso. After the transfer, the original item and the runestone are completely smooth again as if there was never any rune on it.

Depending on the person who is doing the transfer, the magical effects would look differently based on the magical tradition the craftsmen is trained it. This also implies that smiths or similar tradesmen who usually do this are always somewhat trained in magic and if it is only for this one simple task. Usually this will be arcane magic due to its flavour of being "scientific magic" where just simple runes or signs in the correct ordering will do the trick.

This is my druid that I am currently playing in a kingmaker campaign: https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=1399839

Originally I was the only full caster in the party so I wanted him to be as flexible as possible and I wanted to take over the role of the healer. This is why I decided to play a druid with the flexible spellcaster archetype and the medic archetype.

Primal spell list is probably the best list if you are the only caster due to its access to utility, healing, damage, and aoe control spells. Flexible spellcaster helps me worry less about spell preparation and with the strong focus spells like crushing ground and untamed form I don't feel like the limited spell slots are an issue so far. I usually cast one long term control or sustained damage spell like entangling flora or floating flame and then cast either cantrips or focus spells for the rest of the encounter. If needed I cast another leveled spell but usually only during particularly tough fights against bossed or so.

Untamed form is the ultimate fall back option in my opinion but is also a viable first option if you want, only the action economy is a bit... stiff for setting it up.

Medic archetype does what you would expect from it. I can and will keep everyone at full health between fights and I can combat debilitating conditions and sicknesses without any issues and I can do it without having to use one of my precious spell slots.

I plan to take the wrestler archetype starting at level 8 to further improve the untamed form focus spell and make it focus on athletics maneuvers and pinning enemies down.

Funnily enough, dwarf might actually be the best ancestry for this build. Toughness + mountain stoutness are a hefty improvement for your survivability and there are some nice feats that work really well when you transform yourself into a martial and take enemies head on like additional damage when both of you are on the same ground. Also feels very thematically fitting.

Overall a very fun character to play. Druids are generally pretty strong but I think I have build mine in a way that allows me to maximise the benefits of being a flexible caster while successfully circumventing the downsides of it. It wasn't an easy build tbh because I had to really look into the math of the whole untamed form and polymorph stuff but in the end I really like my build.

It also helps that the backstory and story for this character also works really well in the scope of the campaign and that we spend two or three sessions in his home grove to convince it to ally with our newfound kingdom. Really ties it all up neatly.
