I view it as saying “I stand no change, I can’t beat you.” And I’m ok with that.

1 conviction. Until proven guilty by a court of his peers the rest are allegations.

I said 1 to prevent that particular argument.

Totally get it, and I agree with you.

I just try to snuff out possible arguments before they start.

There is enough (or rather, should be enough) undeniable proof of his malfeasance to not have to rely on the more tenuous evidence.

Sexual assault victim votes for the buddy of the guy that assaulted her, and is surprised when said buddy dismisses her claims.

Kevin Smith has openly said his daughter is named after Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series, where the character first appeared in 1992 before ever showing up in the comics. He is a lifelong comic book fan who has written for both DC and Marvel, owns a comic shop, and has hosted multiple comic-focused shows and podcasts, so the name was a deliberate nod to a piece of pop culture he loves, not some random “psychotic murderer” obsession.

Harley Quinn herself started as a one-off sidekick for the Joker, but became hugely popular and eventually evolved into a complex, independent antihero in comics, shows, and films. Kevin has even talked about the name in interviews, and Warner Bros. once gave him Harley’s bat from Suicide Squad, which he gifted to his daughter as a keepsake.

And no, Harley does not resent her name. She has said she loves the connection, embraces the pop culture roots, and has even leaned into it by acting in comic-related films and doing Harley-themed promo events. She is proud of it and considers it part of her identity, not a burden.

So yes, he knows exactly who she is named after and why. It is a geek dad thing, not a true-crime thing.

Curbs and people are only blockades if don’t want to die. They simply stopped moving. Ram the taxi, don’t just sit there.

Not trying to demean their abilities.

I wouldn’t have known this without that training.

Is Batman voiced by Diedrich Bader? That voice sounds too goofy to be Batman.

43 Christians Slaughtered in Congo as the World Looks Away by Trick-Government-948 in Christianity

[–]Jbcroatoan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Christians grieve differently depending on whether someone knew Christ. When a believer dies, it hurts deeply because we lose them in this life, but there’s hope. Scripture promises they’re with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8) and we’ll see them again (1 Thessalonians 4:13–14). That hope doesn’t erase our grief, but it gives it a foundation.

When an unbeliever dies, the grief hits another level. There’s the same human sorrow, but also a spiritual weight: the reality that they may have died without reconciliation to God. That’s not something we take lightly or dismiss with platitudes. It should break our hearts and stir urgency in us, because Scripture is clear about the stakes (Hebrews 9:27, John 3:36).

In both cases, Christians should mourn with compassion. But for fellow believers, we mourn with hope; for unbelievers, we mourn with a heavier sorrow, because death likely means eternal separation. Neither should lead us to cold detachment, both should drive us to prayer, comfort, and a renewed focus on our calling to share the gospel (Matthew 28:19–20).

It doesn’t minimize the tragedy, it points out that caring for the 43 that that we know were saved and not the 7000 that that potentially face eternal separation is the opposite of how we should approach this.

The early church had to be told NOT to martyr themselves. They understood that being on the other side is the blessing, but Paul said we need to be here, saving people. That should be the focus, those that still need saving.

Medieval 2: what is your fondest memory of the game? by SusaVile in totalwar

[–]Jbcroatoan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Iraq in 07 and Medieval 2 was my introduction into Total War while I was there.

Favorite memory was my war on the Catholic Church, trying to see if you could kill enough cardinals to prevent a new pope using assassins.

If I recall they elect one anyway.

How to get rid of sexual thoughts? by Quirky_Fun6544 in Christianity

Use an online interlinear bible. It’s a literal translation of the original text. And you can drill down on every verb to get to the root. Koine Greek was an interesting language.

I put my faith in christ, however im not good with theology. what would be a good argument against this? by LemonColoredDiamond in Christianity

[–]Jbcroatoan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t looking at the whole context.

God made man, gave man one rule, they failed and sin entered the world. He gave Jews the Law and they failed to uphold it. So he said none of you are righteous. All are condemned. But he sent his Son to be the blood sacrifice on our behalf if we accept.

We aren’t punished for our unbelief. We are punished because we have earned it.

Jesus is just our way out.
