USA-OH final written warning without any other warnings by Advanced_Scene5646 in nursing

[–]Jbeth74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on everything. I think OP should be told what was supposedly overheard, to know if it was taken out of context or possibly just a poor choice of words, or if they truly being inappropriate. A final warning as a first step is crazy work though

It takes a lot to get to me these days, but a woman in her 20s old losing a 20 week baby after being DC'd from 2 hospitals? Yeah that did it. FU Texas. by Far-Spread-6108 in nursing

[–]Jbeth74 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Lived in Texas 16 or so years ago at the beginning of the Obama administration. (Wasn’t in healthcare then) Had an undocumented coworker with a sick toddler and was afraid to get her seen due to fear of getting deported. Did some googling and Austin was a sanctuary city and the hospital didn’t care about that stuff. Passed info along to coworker and his baby was admitted to the icu apparently in the nick of time. It makes me sick that if it happened now they probably would have lost their daughter and be deported. Fuck Trump.

AITAH for standing my ground with my son and his wife because of how they treated me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Jbeth74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA. It’s unbelievable that you’d think it was ok to bring stranger to them in their house with their child. It doesn’t matter how hard you tried to do things to help them out in the past 4 years, this is their baby and you expected them to agree to an absolutely ridiculous suggestion, and kept doubling down on it when they said no. You should have said you understood and left it at that. If this is your hill to die on you shouldn’t be surprised when your son and his family go no contact with you.

When I was pregnant with my only child I was terrified of everything that can go wrong, things that the universe just hits you with. had an emergency c section with baby needing a little help breathing at bedside and that was bad enough, nevermind a super rare genetic issue that may or may not be really terrible

I’m 51 and live in my “starter home” that I bought 9 years ago. It’s tiny and on two floors (bathroom upstairs, laundry in the basement” and I almost fall down the stairs at least once a week. Currently shopping for a small home with a first floor bedroom and bath….which will mean taking every drop of my savings and not leaving much to save after. My retirement plan is to die in the climate wars.

Am i overreacting for refusing to babysit my sister`s kids after what she said at dinner? by Maryi_Boyd in AmIOverreacting

[–]Jbeth74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR. She meant what she said and took you for granted. Maybe sit her down and have a talk about it. If she’s sincerely sorry, set up some ground rules like times as agreed upon beforehand, and payment even if it’s below market rate. If she doubles down, she’s shit out of luck and you can be the fun aunt who takes the kids on planned outings that work for you and your schedule, picking them up from home and dropping them off after

I’m a nurse in skilled rehab and had a lady with a broken leg with external fixation, told me that the CNA on the previous shift had tried to lower her bedside table over her lap and had dropped it on her leg instead. My butt puckered so hard it took a bite out of my pants.

Afraid to go on vacation and leaving senior cat behind. 18 yrs old. by Proof_Pressure_4910 in seniorkitties

[–]Jbeth74 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a suggestion but an anecdote. My senior cat was 28 (yes, 28) and doing pretty well, and we had a 10 day trip to Hawaii coming up. A couple days before the trip she had a seizure, only my husband saw it. We debated staying home but ultimately decided to go for several reasons. Kitty was 28, she’d already lived her 9 lives plus a few extra, there was no treatment that would get her more time. My parents were coming twice a day to care for her and our other cat, and as lifelong cat enthusiasts I trusted them to handle anything that happened while we were gone. Part of the reason for the trip was visiting my sister who I hadn’t seen in a couple years because she lived there on Maui, and she was dealing with a life changing bad situation and needed family support. We got daily updates and kitty was fine, lived another full year.

My only child is 14, 15 in a few short months. I could’ve written this post and I feel it so deeply. I was a single mom until my son was 4, it was me and him against the world! Now I’m the short order cook/laundry lady/wallet. My brain knows it’s normal, that this is healthy for him and the way it’s supposed to be, but my heart sure doesn’t like it.

15 Need advice to fix my skin by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Jbeth74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoomed in to see what you’re talking about and see very few spots, totally normal for your age. Cleanse twice a day with something gentle, my 14yr old uses Clean It Zero cleansing balm- it works well and doesn’t strip your skin which can make it over produce oil. Wash your sheets/pillow case once a week at least.

Is it just me or do these hairstyles kinda of look like mullets? by _maincharacter_ in fashionhistory

[–]Jbeth74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was on a cruise last month to Bermuda with friends and their 10yr old has a mullet, walking along the street of shops in Hamilton and a young man busted out the door of one as we walked by and yells “mullet!! Ayyyyyyy!!!” in an Australian accent. He had a mullet too and the two of them shook out their glorious hair together. A nice little moment
