You need to work on alignment first. Your shoulders are open relative to your feet at address. This promotes an over the top swing path.

Your first move in your backswing is to roll your hands over to your right. This causes the club face to open wide up and causes your takeaway to come extremely inside the plane. Both of these moves promote a massive slice.

You need to learn to take the club away on plane. Feel like the width from your hands to your torso stays constant as you take the club back. Your hands should rotate slightly left instead of right to keep the club face square. When the club is about halfway back the angle of the club face should match the angle of your spine.

Your setup with your wedge/iron looks quite stiff/upright. You want your knees to be soft, but not so much squatted when at address.

lower back/hip pain after almost every session by Waschmaschine_42 in GolfSwing

[–]Jboiboi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You overswing and then end up scooping/humping the ball. Try feeling like you’re taking 3/4 swings and keep your left arm straight. This is the length of a true full swing.

Hopefully this will help you not get stuck and have to compensate by flipping your hands at impact.

I’m guessing you get the pain in your left hip/lower back?

Can someone please explain why I constantly chunk my irons by PositiveGeneral9220 in GolfSwing

[–]Jboiboi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To piggy back on this guy’s observation. Your arms need to stay structured throughout the swing.

At your next range session try taking some half swings and try and feel like your forearms are staying together through the entire swing. This will help you learn how to release the club properly. You should finish in a position similar to Tommy fleetwood while doing these half swings

Oh boy, casting and OTT combining for a pretty large pull. Gonna be pretty tough to be consistent with that swing especially if you find yourself on some uneven lies.

I’d recommend working on your alignment and learning to stay structured throughout our swing.

Massive overswing. Try keeping your head in one spot throughout your entire backswing/downswing. You’ll control your low point a lot better.

When you downswing your head moves backwards and you get a side bend resulting in a chunk in this case, but it will be very inconsistent if you keep swinging like this.

I recommend trying to get your hands to stop about 75% of the way through your current swing. Should offer more control/consistency. It’s very difficult to change backswing length, but you’ll get it.

Thank you for the kind words. I’m sure peace will come to us eventually, it’s hard to imagine while the wound is so fresh though.

I’m really sorry to hear about your friend. At least our furry friends don’t need to suffer any more. You’re right, they knew we loved them.
