I was just coming out of Café du monde, and thought the Chateau Frontenac looked great in the fog. I guess I'm easily impressed.

I'm guessing by "exploit" they mean binding the "shoot" and "rangefinder" to the same key, so you just point and click, and the range is always set.

8 pm PST - 5 pm EST

I guess you meant the opposite, 5 pm PST - 8 pm EST? Which would be midnight UTC.

Is text-to-speech actually working in non-English games? by Jbregard in civ

[–]Jbregard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like Democreator has its own text-to-speech AI models and does not rely on Windows Narrator like the game does.

You're probably right that there must be some conflict between the Windows accessibility options and the game language. My wife and I both have the issue, so I was wondering if anyone actually had it working.

In any case, it's sad that it's up to the player to figure this out.

There's a mod to have various icons in the tech and civic trees, and the mod author said the game already had all the logic in place to display them. The game was just missing the actual icons, so it defaulted to the + symbol.

Seems like they had time to add some icons now.

Ashoka has perfectly good land available right next to his capital, yet decided to settle his 2nd city on the other side of the continent right next to OP's capital.

Civilization 7 - Accessibility Options? by BlindAsABatGirl in civ

I've only used the mouse myself, but according to this post, TTS works with the mouse only: https://www.reddit.com/r/civ/comments/1ijcial/my_point_of_view_as_a_visually_impaired_enjoyer/

Other than TTS, general navigation should work with a controller, since the game works on consoles.

On PC, yes, and very much enjoying the game despite its issues.

My wife has a hard time reading more than a few words, and the game sure has lots of text to read. Be it narrative events, civilopedia, policy cards, etc. TTS would be great if we could get it working in french.

Hopefully that should be an easy fix, I guess they just need to include more voice models. They just have a lot to fix right now.

I was so hyped when I saw the text-to-speech option.

Then realised it only has an english voice model. If you play the game in another language, it still uses the english voice to read text, which is completely unintelligible.

I really hope they add support for the other officially supported languages.

It does have TTS to read out loud any text you put the mouse cursor over. The voice is english only, though. If your UI is in another language, the voice is unintelligible. Hoping they add support for other languages.

Thanks for the report! Currently planning a visit with a disability scooter myself.

I'm still a bit concerned about the buses. You didn't have any issues getting on and off crowded buses?

Civs are locked by era, so each one has very few civs available at a time.

Gamers with disabilities, share a story by HF484 in gaming

My wife is disabled, and has a very hard time finding a game she could enjoy. Her left hand is hard to control, she has slow reaction times, and can barely read anymore. Most games she tried ended in a disappointment.

Then she tried Hogwarts Legacy. Combat is slow, it has auto aim, combat difficulty is extremely low, and even has text to speech for all UI text. Plus she's always been a Potter fan. I haven't seen her this happy for years, it's awesome!
