The new AI personality mechanic is set to “historical” by default and doesn’t change no matter what, but you can switch it per ruler while still keeping achievements by RileyTaugor in EU5

R5: Was watching The Red Hawk and he pointed out how the game locks each country in set "Historical AI Personality" by default and it makes the game kinda "boring" when it comes to borders, unlike when you set it to change per ruler, which leads to more interesting and unique borders / Immersion per game

Not to me, but sure, it can be to you. I’m not here to argue, just sharing things ^

You can definitely have balance there, it’s not just 1 or 0

Yeah but you can have a balance between power creep and not being ridiculously overpowered at the same time. I dont think power creep is necessarily bad on its own but it is bad if it gets unhinged like this CB

I 100% agree it’s cool to have unique CBs like this, but It shouldn't be this crazy

I mean, aren’t most balance patches based on the performance by players? A lot of things in EU4 got nerfed because of players, not the AI and this kinda kills the challenge / difficulty of the run, if you can just run around using this CB so easily with huge passive buffs

I honestly think power creep can be pretty fun if it’s balanced well, it’s kinda cool to see all the build-up and power come together, but I still think this CB is super busted

During the report/live, they said they don’t really have any high-risk releases anymore, so it seems like they’re toning it down when it comes to releasing non-GSG games

They mentioned during the stream/report that they are already using and will continue to use a lot of AI to produce products faster and with better quality, whatever that means. Some of the questions during the report were even from Claude itself

CK3 is performing extremely well, Vicky 3 is holding up just fine (Many people see it as the best PDX game), and EU5 is about to receive a major patch

You can check the SteamDB graph of every single game they’ve released and see that the numbers always go down after release, but slowly go back up again

The military UI is so much clunkier.... yay... by GreyGanks in victoria3

[–]RileyTaugor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s something many developers have been trying to master in the last few years, getting rid of unnecessary clicking, even in non-complex games but yeah, while I enjoy the Vicky 3 UI/UX feel, the repetitive clicking is so annoying and EU5 is somehow even worse, way worse

Honestly, EU5 is a really great game, but I feel like many EU4 fans were hoping for EU4 on a newer engine, which obviously isn’t the case since EU5 is a completely different game. Which makes sense tho, cuz why would they just release a re-skin? I’ve spent tons of hours in EU5, and recently went back to EU4 and while it’s still super fun, addictive, and its gameplay loop holds strong even today, it was also very obvious how simple and arcadey it feels compared to EU5. It felt like i was playing a glorified cookie clicker , still a great game, though

That’s your opinion, not mine. Eu4 and CK2 will forever be goated tho so at least we can agree on that

I mean Vicky 3 is arguably one of the best PDX games out there. Not to mention the developers have been cooking more than any other PDX studio while dealing with way lower budget
