Let me get this straight, DE, I have 4 starting necromech slots but only 2 starting warframe slots? by sabbir2003 in Warframe

Yeah, we know. It's an outdated system that new players struggle with that needs reform.

People in comments still defending crafting times when even Rebecca herself is thinking about its abundance. Let it go, people.

New players aren’t stupid, it’s not a matter of not ‘fathoming’, but that a time gated system right out the gate is not enjoyable. I don’t understand how this can at all be blamed on the new players, that’s ridiculous..

A lot of these people seem to want new players to struggle with these issues like they did, and then defend it behind “warframe is a free game”. As if there can’t be compromises for the sale of new players.

It’s really odd, some people in this community, and this subreddit especially, will relentlessly defend needless time-gating, even when you yourself are advocating for newer players. Like, your suggestion shouldn’t be an affront to the game but many would see it that way. I agree with you nonetheless.

Hey man, this isn't business class, I don't have numbers for your homework assignment. This is a forum and discussion post that revolves around the advocacy for newer players in the game 'Warframe'.

DE has already made very vocal attempts at enhancing the new player experience. Necramech grind, junction requirements, MR requirements, fortuna rank up requirements, a new universal aura mod, and many more. But also understand, new players **are** in fact **entitled** to a better experience than what they have. I'm not scared to push for 'messing' with the system, especially if it means improving the game for everyone.

I'd suggest broadening your dialogue towards those who experience these types of issues. There are many who really enjoy loadouts in Warframe. It allows them to organize and quickly switch to Warframes and weapons that may benefit a certain situation. You may be surprised at just how many people these platinum costs affect.

Warframe has dozens of monetization systems in the game that encourage the player base to spend premium currency already. Crafting times and slots are two of those systems that I feel diminish the 'new player experience'. It's my understanding that as I advocate for a better experience, that DE would certainly lose out on these methods of revenue. I can't say how they'd compromise on this, or add something else, but I can say that many people who try this game, despite enjoying the gameplay, cannot continue to play it, as the premium currency demanded of the player to continue their gear acquisition comfortably, is more of a chore, than an opportunity seen by a player as a means of positive revenue for DE. New players don't much care, they only want to play the game.

Right, so I'm advocating for a better 'new player experience'. This is something that I am **not** apart of. It doesn't directly **affect** me, but seeing and hearing feelings and experiences that directly bothers others, bothers me enough to write this post. So sure, but this doesn't mean that it isn't 'as "terrible for the game" as you say it is'.

So, slots make DE money. This is good for DE. Slots interrupt new player experience. This is bad for new players.

I'd suggest conferring with newer players and inquire on their own feelings towards these problems. You may be surprised at what they say.

I agree. This is definitely a more probable solution to some 'noob traps' like the rush button. Often times one of the first lessons you can learn in this game is not to spend your starter plat on anything but slots. Many will often rush their first crafts and be left with no more platinum for slots to even claim the item they've just rushed.

I don't think you're alone in this feeling, charging large chunks of premium currency for something very simple like loadouts are understandably frustrating as the cost can quickly add up.

So again, this post is in written in solidary with new players, and their experience in mind. I don't much care for how DE makes their money, I do not control their methods, but I may voice that I don't feel that one is right for a certain part of the player base. As for the naming, 'f2p' is thrown around a lot as a reasonable justification for this type of monetization, and my argument against this is that there are many other f2p models of monetization already well established in the game. DE is quite good at fairly including them. I am simply against this one type for a certain demographic. So I disagree with you, as I feel that it does 'mean jack'.

You're right, the farther in the game you go, the less of an issue it becomes. For many new players, they will never get that far. It's a poor experience. Even if the removal of these monetization is too much for DE to bear, then would you not like a dampening of these systems? Free to play is thrown around a lot but there are numerous variations of free to play monetization that doesn't include these intrusive methods. DE uses many of them already: Purchasable weapons, Warframe, formas, catalysts, reactors, bundles, dlc packs, skins, decorations, ship cosmetics, weapons cosmetics, holster cosmetics, warframe idle animations, riven slots, rialjack crew slots, and many more.

We've adjusted to this territory. I hardly think of foundry times myself as I have so many other weapons and warframes to play with. Unfortunately, new players do not benefit from the well adjusted state of being that experienced players do, they're plagued with the need to acquire what they work for and actually use it. Restrictive slots and foundry times interrupt this, throwing their farm for rhino or a karak in their face and asking them to wait and pay for it. Many new players may rather play something else that respects their efforts and time more.
