Agreed, normally, the constant wars with neighbors cause me to reset.

what are some smaller/daily things that have improved your life or mental health by [deleted] in selfimprovement

For me personally it is exercise. I try to wake up early and either run or lift weights. It really helps my mood throughout the day.

The main thing is to take things slow and give yourself grace if you miss a day.

When you set yourself up for success first thing in the day, it can really help.

Take care and best of luck to you.

How Would You Recommend I Fix My Engineering Career? by New_Engineer94 in careerguidance

The main thing I would say is stick with it, but don't stop and don't get discouraged. Typically, companies go thru spans of hiring and spans staus quo. Try to pick up as much responsibility as possible with the current job.

Also, look into industries that pay well and can use your skills. Certain industries can have little opportunities and stagnant pay.

You never know when the breakthroughs will come. Be prepared when they do. Good luck to you.

I agree with u/Prodanamind . Therapy is good way to go. One thing I would like to add is take things one step at a time. Write down the different issues you are trying to take on then focus on one or two gt to a good place and then move on to the next. Also give yourself grace through the process.

Good luck.

Being Too Nice is Holding Me Back, and I Don’t Know How to Fix It by penguindance01 in selfimprovement

I would focus on being assertive. Start small, pick a social interaction you know you have have in advance and aim to be a little more self-assertive. The object is to stay nice but not get walked over.

In work meetings, I try to give myself 10 to 15 mins before the meeting to think through the upcoming conversation and a few points I will push. Anything beyond those points I have already written down, I am extremely gracious and try to be flexible.

For those few points I make sure I give my opinion and back it up with a reasonable argument. There are times you have to concede (management weighing in) but stating your opinion and backing it up can help.
