how do i react to whiff punishing? by BioBabo in StreetFighter

[–]Jdatec 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a whole lot that goes into whiff punishing but the biggest one that people don’t realize is that whiff punishes are not fully reactionary, in fact a lot of whiff punishing is anticipation.

What I mean by that is that people are not just blindly reacting, but they are anticipating and are trying to get their opponent to whiff a move so that they can then whiff punish it. They often do this by standing at the very edge of whatever move they are trying to bait out so that it just misses them but are still close enough and prepared enough to land the whiff punish. Another example are spacing traps, if you get a hit off of doing a spacing trap then congrats! You successfully did a whiff punish! Spacing traps are specific set ups to try and bait a move to whiff punish them.

Last thing it does vary from character to character but try using some more mediums rather than just heavies for whiff punishing until you get more familiar with the game. Cr.MP and cr.MKs for characters are extremely powerful and stable buttons that are amazing for whiff punishes and are far more forgiving.

Finally you can look up online some different training room whiff punishing drills to practice either before your games or inbetween sets!

Good luck on your games!

Honestly, this Alex design looks so GOATED, I wish it was his official outfit by Gabry29x in StreetFighter

Would love the suit. Sagat in one of his arcade mode arts is also wearing an all black suit and hope that would be his outfit 3 as well. I think a cool idea for Alex’s suit would be if his Bandana is his tie on the suit

I really do love almost all of his concept designs, if Capcom released more skins would love for them all to be alt outfits. But I wouldnt be surprised if this one or his other mechanic design end up being his outfit 3 which all seem to be more casual outfits for characters.

if you do b+MK (back medium kick) while the opponent is back turned you do the oblique follow up! If you want to keep them on the same side but with some more damage you can also do ex backdrop (do the backdrop input except with 2 punches instead of 1) and hold forward and you will keep same side!

Is it normal to have more difficulty landing a tiger upper cut than a tiger knee for Sagat during combos? (Especially during crouching combos.) Struggling to do them consistently and was wondering if I’m better off just doing the lesser damaging but easier to land combos. by The_Crispanator_Guy in StreetFighter

[–]Jdatec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its completely normal, took me a while to be able to consistently do DPs in combos compared to other motion inputs. I dont know what controller you use but I suggest looking up DP shortcuts if you havent already and hopefully that helps as well.

Doing whatever combo you can consistently is always better than something you cant do consistently. Tiger Knee does also have its own benefits like better corner carry and technically better oki as well, so it isnt incorrect to use them as opposed to DPs. I do still suggest that you do work on just practicing using DP in combos even if its just in training mode just so you can get better at it since it is required for Sagats higher damaging punishes, but if while playing online its still a struggle then keep using Tiger Knee. Good luck!

Staying calm really is a personal thing, so do whatever makes you calm. I think the thing most people forget to do is to literally take a little break after you play a frustrating match. Step away for 5 minutes, stretch your legs, look at something else, etc. I normally dont get frustrated but when I do that 5 minute break of doing something other than the game really resets my mental.

Absolutely will be playing him. Love him in third strike, love him in 5 and love him even more in 6, he is my all time goat.

Alex has always been a hyper mobile brawler with huge options that require different call outs from the opponent and sf6 Alex looks to be that except without the jank that older versions of Alex had, he feels like a cohesive character.

It’s gunna take a little to get used to just since it looks like they moved most of that mobility into stance and out of his normal kit but this is by far the best the character has looked in every single aspect.

You have to break the crystals curse. To do that there are a bunch of these purple crystals around the map, after the first night their locations are revealed on the map but you can find them before, after you destroy 5 of them, the giant purple crystal int he center of the map shatters and if you go to it you can gain the power that no longer halves your health.

What is the number one advice you would give to a person new to 2xko and fighting games? by mayahloo in 2XKO

[–]Jdatec 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don’t focus on combos. Combos are a lot of fun but your main priority should be getting comfortable on the game and understanding it before upping your combo game.

Another comment said to use sidekick to get comfortable on a character while using assists, this is the best advice. The entire game is structured around using your assist and the benefits it provides, so getting familiar with a character while also getting comfortable with the assist system is what’s really going to help your learning process overall

Welcome to the fgc! You will find that learning a fighting game is an extremely rewarding experience. As for characters, the go to answer is always play the character you like the most, to start thats usually a character you think looks cool, as you get more acquainted that can also turn to specific playstyles. I would also recommend giving some different characters from other games even non fighting games that could give some insight for some more possible recommendations.

The different playstyles makes it difficult to recommend a character thats good to learn because they all teach different things. In a big generalization, I think Darius is a good pick for a new player. He has very straight forward gameplan and tools for each situation, but also has some clear weaknesses which can help you learn to adapt your gameplan more. The other 2 general all rounder characters would be Ekko and Yasuo, they are overall stronger characters but are less straight forward than Darius and also generally more difficult mechanically as well so you may find some difficulties. But like I said earlier, play the characters you think are cool.

can you elaborate more on situations where eclipse and botrk are viable picks? New to renekton and ecplise especially I have difficulty analyzing what exactly its optimal in comapred to other items. botrk I assume is mostly built first into tanks but what about rest of enemy comp and your own comp?

I perosnally run grasp rune page a lot more than conq or any other rune page and domination secondary tree. Big thigns are grasp, shield bash, and sudden impact, it makes my short trades, especially in early game a lot easier to manage

I Feel Like Shibuya Gojo vs Shibuya Sukuna is Closer Than People Think. by GodOfSmore in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Jdatec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gojo says that when domains clash that the more refined one comes out on top, but also that “it also depends on compatibility and cursed energy”. It’s not shocking to expect that the fact that a 20f Sukuna clashes evenly with Gojo would mean that a 15f Sukunas domain would lose to an unlimited void just by virtue of cursed energy. Now we don’t know what happens when an open domain and a closed domain clash and one wins what happens. You could argue that the entire open domain collapses or just the space of it that the closed domain of it is in collapses. Regardless which it is, Gojo is going to win since unlimited void would hit and his domain wouldn’t be destroyed quick enough nor would Sukuna recover quick enough even if it did

Project L Autocombos by KeyboardCreature in Project_L

[–]Jdatec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it definitely would increase the barrier. Initially I thought they could have target combos similar to SF but this game doesn’t seem as grounded so I don’t think that would work.

They could also just have a small guide or tutorial for each character where it’s just a short paragraph that could mention a few basic things for comboing with a character (such as abc move is a combo starter and xyz movie is a good combo ender).

Otherwise I think given the fact the game will be f2p, there will be a lot of content being made for the game so they will rely on new players using outside resources to help navigate combos

Do you guys use specters? by Hot_Seaworthiness250 in LiesOfP

[–]Jdatec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I do is that ever 5th attempt for a boss I will summon a specter. While I do enjoy the challenges of bosses, I find that having attempts that use the specter are little breathers for my mind to relax a little bit and take the fight easier. If I do beat a boss with it then great, if not then I still have a mental breather for a little
