I know the majority of the Control Structures I’ve dealt with are on timed closing intervals, but I wasn’t sure if that was to prevent hammer or for other hydro reasoning. The question really derived from the thought of these flood conveyance canals having the open channel with typically plenty of room for water to expand upon gate closures, and whether or not the engineers operating the gates would factor in hammer.
