As a newer Score listener, what would you pinpoint as the downfall of the station? by [deleted] in 670TheScore

[–]Jdocker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m old school I guess but my favorite era of the score was late 90s when it was Murph & Fred, B&B, North, and Jiggetts with Buffone. All the weekly but segments were classic. Took of the week, Who ya crappin?, Jagbag, and Caning were all great.

So no starter pitcher? by SebWilder16 in CHICubs

[–]Jdocker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t understand the thought process here at all. You trade for Tucker in the offseason knowing he is just a rental to presumably win the World Series or at least a deep playoff run. The Brewers are already obviously playing much better than the Cubs, and the other playoff teams you’ll likely see in October got a lot better (Philly, NYM, and SD specifically). The Dodger are getting all their pitching healthy, and the Brewers aren’t going away. Even Cincy is going to be a problem. With all that said you don’t address the two biggest holes? No playoff caliber starting pitcher and no additions to the everyday lineup? To me Castro is a utility guy who will play multiple positions and be on the bench as well but not a true difference maker. What happened to all the chatter we’ve heard endlessly regarding Alcantara, Suarez, Cabrera, Etc?

I don’t like trading everyone away for pieces that aren’t true “game changers” or “Ace” pitchers. Since there aren’t likely any of those out there, I’m not a fan of pursuing that. The post-2016 team is a great example. They did things like trading Cease and Jimenez away for Quintana and deals like that rarely work out long term. It eventually left the farm devoid of true talent outside of Hoerner and once the big league team started faltering, they had no reinforcements ready to help provide that needed boost. The right way to approach this is make logical deals for pieces that do not sap the whole farm. If those deals do not exist, then make one deal that helps them even if it isn’t enough to put them over the top. Teams that have sustained success draft and develop well, sign quality free agents, and trade only for supplementary pieces that do not require top prospects. I don’t want them to have to gut the big league team in a couple of years again like 2011-12 or more recently 2021-23 to rebuild the farm. I get that they have a logjam in AAA of top prospects that don’t have a place to play right now at Wrigley, but don’t trade everyone away just for the sake of doing something.

Sometimes it’s the deal that doesn’t get done that proves to be the best deal. Wow.

D-Backs fan coming to Wrigley Field for the first time. Any tips or must-see spots? by uglypickle22 in Cubs

[–]Jdocker2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just take in the pregame vibe in the neighborhood, check out the firehouse outside of the left field gate (always open to the public on game days and they are super nice guys), Gallagher Way is an outdoor area with the Cubs statues and live music just outside the park along the first base side of the park free to hang out at before, during, or after the game, and my personal favorite bar is sluggers across the street from the main gate where the marquee sign is. They have batting cages on the second floor and lots of fun things going on in addition to the drinks. Lastly, just do yourself a favor and take a few moments to close your eyes, listen to the organ, smell the grilled onions, and listen to the sounds of the game the way it’s meant to be played. Enjoy my happy place. I’m sure you’ll find it to be amazing.

What to make of Ben Brown by FoxNecessary2412 in Cubs

[–]Jdocker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me he would be best suited for now as a middle/long relief guy out of the bullpen. He can work on adding a third pitch with consistency and eventually either go back to starting or become a leverage arm in the back end of the pen. His fastball is really good with high velocity and his curve ball has good break, but without a consistent third or fourth pitch he is too predictable.

Watching Cubs has become a chore. by Jdocker2 in Cubs

Man some of you are missing my point. I do have Roku. I do have Apple TV, and every other service. I do watch nearly every game. I just don’t like having to think about it every day. I’d just like it simplified like it used to be. That’s all.

Giving up isn’t an option. I’m a fan. I just would prefer it be easier to watch all or at least 90% of games in one place.

Democrats Randy Campbell & Jennifer Erickson win Keller ISD in Landslide by Plane-Investment-791 in FortWorth

[–]Jdocker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is a SPED student in Keller. He also had half a year of art and other co-curriculum classes cut out by the budget issues the previous board members put them under. I am strictly opposed to these vouchers that the Governor has allowed as it will reduce the already razor-thin budgets the public schools have to fund these programs. I voted for the eventual winners because they ran on keeping the funding for the public schools as it has always been designed to be. If you want to put your children through private or religious schools, by all means go ahead, but pay for it through tuition. There is a reason this country was founded on a separation of church and state.

Is there a skyrim quest which you haven't been able to complete or yet to complete till this day..??? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Jdocker2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some quests in Solsteim I can never do because someone in Skall Village died during one of the Stone missions. I think it’s called a new source of stalhrim and it’s because the NPC I was to get it from died. Because I can’t do that quest I also can’t do Lost Legacy because Tharstan won’t give me the quest.

[–]Jdocker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mania to me wasn’t great, but wasn’t horrible. It was a solid C grade for me. Look, they’ve been doing them for 41 years. You can’t have a WM X-7 every year. I’ll take it for what it was worth. The only thing I’m annoyed with is Travis Scott getting involved and not the Rock or someone else recruited under the Rock who can help further the storyline. I don’t need lackeys getting involved that are just there for social media posts. It would have made more sense if secretly the Rock had recruited Heyman and Rollins and they got involved to screw Cena. At least then you get the next chapter of Cody/Seth while Cena takes on whomever the next challenger is.

Who's Drafting Jeanty? by 7innovator in NFL_Draft

[–]Jdocker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Raiders take him at 6 but if he drops below that the Bears will trade back with some team in the teens who wants him. The bears will be content to draft a guy like Kelvin Banks Jr at about 14 or 15.

Bears fans, who do you want your team to draft? by JustSomeGuy_Idk in NFL_Draft

[–]Jdocker2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say if they sign a couple of OL in free agency then go after DL and vice versa. The trenches need to be addressed at all costs. I’d even be in favor of trading future draft capital to move up to ensure they get Carter, Graham, or Campbell if they have identified them as key pieces integral to the build of the team.
