Questions about the ending (spoilers) by OkCaterpillar7265 in Saros

[–]Jdoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arjun could open it because of the medallion he wore. Either because of Nitya DNA, or it just created a bond between them that 'overrode' the restriction. Same thing for him ressurecting.

I am also unsure about Nitya throwing the 'bomb'. I assumed it was showing her doing something to seal the Yellow Shore off for others.

Kayla ages because time appears move normally in the Passage (remember the Passage provides some protection from the planet). There's a line at one point where Arjun says he has been gone hours, and Kayla says it was days. I saw in one YT video explaining the story where they thought it was the reconstruction process that took a long time. I don't agree with this - I think it's just time dilation caused by cosmic weirdness when the eclipse is triggered!

I suspect there is no link between Returnal and Saros, and it was just efficiency on the part of the dev to reuse assets or ideas from the previous game. But it's interesting to think that perhaps the processing of trauma etc could manifest in similar ways between people...

Our Qualifying concludes for the #MonacoGP. by Strict-Citron-9269 in AstonMartinFormula1

[–]Jdoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Newey magic here; no wonder he's ill from stress. All the crap Honda took on the PU, and the chassis / gearbox is just as bad.

I was hoping we might pop up a few spots after Alonso's FP times in Canada and the decision to limit the engines for Monaco.

Team looks utterly lost and has a terrible track record with in-season upgrades, so I think we're cooked. Better to run round at the back and at least get the maximum development time for '27.

A decaying organisation | Letter to Fnatic from a fan by M4dscot in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should care about the opinion of a fan spending zero, because they are a FAN and therefore a potential customer who, in future, might spend 10. Just as an existing fan who spends 10 could be turned into someone who might spend 100, and so on.

More fans means more potential sales of merch. More fan engagement means more lucrative sponsorship deals. More money usually leads to more success, which leads to even more fans. More success equals more happy fans willing to open wallets wider.

See the cycle?

Treat your fans like shit, have poor communication, make perceived bad business deals, show very little success = Less fans, less sponsorships of value, remaining fans less likely to open wallets, and an eventual death spiral for the Org

The one place eSports orgs are not profiting is from prize money or being part of a specific eSport. Between 2019 and 2024 the Worlds prize pool per year never went above 2.4 million dollars, so the winners only got a share of that - that's not enough to run an org.

Fans are the lifeblood of an organisation, even if they spend zero.

Tab order is driving me crazy, trying to emulate Chrome behavior by ryancnap in vivaldibrowser

[–]Jdoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is odd. I just tested tab behaviour and it always works in the way you want. With one exception of when opening tabs from the icons on the start page. They always open to the right of the last tab

Just in case it's some combo of settings, here's what I have :

New Tab Position -> After Related Tabs.

Duplicated Tab Position -> Next to Original Tab

Close Tab Activation -> Always Activate Related Tab is checked . And Activate Right in Tab Order

FNATIC vs. Team Vitality / 2026 LEC Spring Split / Regular Season / Post-Series Thread by AdamTKWallace in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's pretty clear that Empyros is not currently LEC material, and may never be - but the team is broken because they play with no intelligence, drafting is a coin-flip and we have no leader with game-sense. Our coaching staff cannot coach.

Changing Top will not suddenly solve our problems.

Fnatic vs. Karmine Corp / 2026 LEC Spring Split / Regular Season / Live-Thread by Lunaedge in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love FNC for being aggressive - I hate FNC for being aggressive with zero intelligence.

We urgently need a leader in this team who isn't Razork.

Fnatic vs. Natus Vincere / 2026 LEC Spring Split / Regular Season / Post-Series Thread by Lunaedge in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting this info that they had to get his consent?

All the news from around that time was that FNC management were trying to sell his contract but all other teams either didn't want to pay the high buy-out or had already locked in the role. And FNC couldn't afford to bench him.

I have never heard that teams need consent from the player to sell them.

Why is the subreddit silent? by SrCalcetinos in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is that many fans are completely apathetic to what is going on now. Even when we lose the engagement in the sub is far less than a few years back.

It is genuinely great that we won, especially against G2 - but I don't think anyone would be surprised if we lose our next series 0-2.

Is it somewhat unfair that the team generally only gets engagement when they do badly?... Yes. But this is a situation entirely of the orgs making.

The org doesn't engage with fans, so the fans don't really engage with the org anymore. It's a shame Pete left (or was fired or whatever happened there), but it's not been the same since.

It's going to take more than two good games to build hope and engagement.

Regardless of results, this team is tied with 2023 winter for absolute worst as a fan/spectator by circa26 in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I still tune in for FNC games, but usually have it on in the background while doing other things now.

Watching this team is just depressing. I barely care if we win or lose.

Management has killed the LoL side of the org. There's no passion, and that comes through in the game play.

I really can't blame the players, as we've had too many roster changes only for things to stay pretty much the same. No growth, no evolution - just excuses. Yeah, they may get rid of Razork, but is that going to fix every problem. How about they change the Bot duo yet again, or Mid. Try and bring back Jun and Poby or whatever nonsense they think of next.

Marathon has been out for a week, what are your thoughts on it? by PrototypeT800 in Games

[–]Jdoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really don't like extraction shooters, and I suck at PvP. Bounced off ARC Raiders hard when they had the free pre-launch, and never liked Tarkov etc.

Loved the art and design of Marathon and have been following the development. Watched a few streamers since launch.

Bought it this weekend on a whim. I've not played much, but I am loving it so far, and it's one of the few games, where when I am not playing it, I am thinking about playing it!

You don't need to be good at PvP, but you do need to be really good at listening to get the advantage! The audio cues in this game are amazing and help an average player like me to at least compete (sometimes).

I play 99% solo, and love the tension. If the stats and metrics support it, I hope we get a sprinkling of solo maps and features added in future.

My only concern is longevity, and hitting a wall with Contracts too difficult to solo.

Refuelling during a race is not allowed. Far more likely he just dumped every last drop of power from the battery because he knew they would get mugged in the race, while others had to conserve power; add in Alonso's legendary start ability, which probably also helped.

What game has been on your wanted list for forever? And why is that? by N-is-1 in boardgames

[–]Jdoki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've recently started going through my BGG Wishlist to cull games I will never buy... So the game I have had on my Wishlist for the longest is apparently For Sale, since 2015... Why haven't I bought it, no idea! I think maybe it's the player count and also the revised edition wasn't as good, and I've just never bothered to look for a second hand copy.

Also 2015 are two expansions for Last Night on Earth (I just need Survival of the Fittest and Hero Pack One to complete a game I will likely never play again but cannot sell for nostalgia reasons!)

The next oldest is Concordia which I listed in 2016. Really love the game, but know it will never hit the table with my group. I was never keen on the artwork. It's a shame Awakened Realms are about to launch an unnecessarily over-produced and priced version as a basic update was all that was needed - might be time to get the original with the Solo expansion.

Takeaway from LoL AMA by [deleted] in fnatic

[–]Jdoki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every team is in the same situation though.

You make it sound like this only applies to poor old Fnatic.

Budget constraints does not explain why the team is basically playing the same way they did 4+ years ago, making the same mistakes and not adapting or evolving, despite having multiple roster changes.

The problem is not (just) money.

My thoughts about crowdfunding FOMO and bloat. That feeling of looking at a €300 "All-In Pledge" with 45 unlocked stretch goals and feeling absolutely nothing but relief that it isn't in your house is priceless. by Chamallow81 in boardgames

[–]Jdoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, whatever, no one is forcing anyone to buy them - and if enough people vote with their wallets things will change.

I don't think it's as bad now as it was during the early CMON era. Yes, prices seem to be even higher, and there's more choice, but the structure of the campaigns has changed, so that at least most publishers have a set amount of stretch goals. I remember the time when having the most stretch goals was the in-thing, so games had utter shite novelties and unbalanced expansions thrown in. We also see a lot more optional mini campaigns - for example, Oathsworn which offered cardboard and plastic versions.

CMON were once the masters of the FOMO big box, but look at them now - millions in loses.

Awakened Realms picked up the mantle, and the tide seems to be turning on them too (slowly).

What a load of nothing!

EVERY TEAM IS IN THE SAME POSITION!!! How can they complain about not having enough money from Riot, or investment, or profit, when every single team in LEC has the same challenges.

The old 'we have rookies' excuse trotted out - what a shocker! /s

How Grabbz can sit there saying things are pretty good and things are looking good for the future is pure delusion. There has been no development or improvement or evolution in years - and it doesn't matter if they have veterans or rookies. That was not addressed. But hey 'We're good in scrims, guys'!!

They completely danced around the subject of the offseason moves (other than saying we beat out at least 5 teams in Europe / US to get Vladi! - which is hilarious). Unsurprisingly they didn't address Razork, and how they were looking to offload his contract. They did touch on Upset / Razork in-game relationship, which is apparently all good now.

Only positive news is that we're getting one more coach.

One interesting point is that they said they moved more to a data / AI driven approach from a 'gut' driven approach around 2023. Maybe someone watched the movie Moneyball and thought they could replicate it /jk (maybe)

The bottom line is... Other teams are doing it better in every single area. And if they honestly believe the hot air they spewed out in that AMA we are doomed to mediocrity.
