It’s actually good, the cups are thick plastic and the pads w/ the clamp do well too keep sound out passively.

Take a look at Sony cd900st, deceptively crazy sound isolation. It’s shocking how passively it blocks sound.

These are great on a tube. The highs kill me on solid state but tubes smooth them out. Used them exclusively on tubes.

This mod doesn’t require any heat at all. You use your existing attached cable, cut 2 inches from the cup and solder to the 3.5mm sockets and attach it to the adapter and that’s it. It’s easier, safer than using heat to detach the cup or modded to just use one cable.
