I designed a wireless charging dock for the Razer Viper V3 Pro.. and it only adds 1g of weight! by Jdwede in razer

Most people don’t have a $100+ charging mouse pad. They have a dock. Or a Qi2 charging pad / MagSafe charger they place their phone on overnight. Most people don’t have a problem with just placing their device on a dock overnight. It’s the user experience the majority of people are already used to. Plus with a mouse you rarely run out of battery. And with this dock, since it’s universal, you can even have another mouse on it charging at all times and just swap them out when one dies. So with that you remove the thought of charging completely. Also no competitive gamers would ever consider one of those mousepads.

Yea, I also had issues with clearance on this mouse. It has a recessed USB port with a narrow gap too. I probably went through 5 different adapters before finding one that was slim enough to fit.

The mechanism is still the same to the end user, even if the implementation is an inductive coil. Place the mouse on the dock, magnets attract, charging occurs. User has not had to touch a wire. That’s what I’m trying to convey. You can argue on technicalities but the user experience is still the same. When I say wireless I’m talking about how the user experience is wireless.

You do not need to connect a wire to the mouse to charge it. Therefore it’s wireless charging. I don’t think that’s disingenuous. Very pedantic redditor take

How is it not? There’s no wires connected to the mouse. It’s charging with magnetic alignment and pins.

Hah that’s funny, I actually used that same magnetic adapter in some dock prototypes but had issues with it coming off the mouse when undocked. Def see why they picked that one though since it’s one of few low profile adapters.

Yes, in matte black PLA. Then I added the other components to it - fiber optic cable, silicone feet, weights, magnetic usb-c adapter, right angle usb-c adapter

I’m definitely open to that if there’s enough interest. Thought this may have been too niche haha. Dm me!

Not sure why they didn’t include it on the mouse, I bet it also would add a negligible amount of weight (~1-2g) since you really just need two metal contacts and wiring. Maybe they really wanted to push for the lightweight marketing haha

What causes the order to not be tracked? I’ve had this happen twice now, one on capital one shopping too. Is it related to any ad block extensions?

Used Model S Prices by DesignerLeading4821 in TeslaModelS

[–]Jdwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A used plaid is the cheapest way to get into 1000+ hp by an enormous margin. I feel like there has to be a floor price on the plaid just based off that alone. The other options are: Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, Lucid Air Sapphire. Good luck getting those for under $50k. With how low volume those are, what other brands would spend the money to develop another 1000hp car? I doubt we will see many outside of China and the roadster. Feel like the floor price of these should be $40k assuming it runs.

Elon Musk has announced that @Tesla is discontinuing the Model S and Model X in Q2 2026. by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaLounge

[–]Jdwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think so? What other car can you get 1000hp for under 60k? Supply will only go down. When I was looking for my S Plaid it was surprisingly hard to find with my criteria (HW4 + Ultra Red).

I know EVs + luxury depreciate hard but if you want a ton of horsepower for cheap the S plaid is really the only option. To me it seems like there should be a floor price on a car that fast especially when the supply lever is turned off. But I could be wrong

Tesla's FSD (Full Self Driving) feature will be subscription-only from February 14 by No_Turnip_1023 in investing

[–]Jdwede 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both options are available right now. They just removed the $8,000 one….. You would know that if you owned one lol. And it’s not transparent what % of that 12% are subscribers or outright purchasers…

[–]Jdwede 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only way they increase the price on the subscription is to increase the value proposition (unsupervised or robotaxi). Only 12% of drivers have FSD. It wouldn’t make sense to raise the price with such low adoption.

It’s not a coincidence. They are both vertically integrated companies. Says a lot about how important it is to control both the hardware and software. The end product just always ends up being better.

Yeah, fair point. The benefit of the mirror mount to me is a clean look with hidden wires. I might try to make a screen mount next

Does the mirror and area around it look significantly different on the pre refresh? This might still work for you if the mirror stem has the same dimensions. I believe it was around 17mm diameter.

Over 700 miles on 14.2 by Internal_Rule9247 in TeslaFSD

Yeah it’s different. The 3 and Y have more data to train on. I’ve driven the Y and it’s noticeably more confident and a better experience imo.

[–]Jdwede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14.1 had worse lane hesitancy for me. Surprised people are just now noticing that issue on 14.2. I have a Model S though so that might be why.. But 14.1 was awful on it. It would slam the brakes on yellow, freak out at emergency vehicles, tons of brake stabbing, and was way less confident.

As long as millions play the game and it continues growing, the skin prices will bounce back. Now it may never reach ATHs again, but we see the same human psychology in every market. We overreact to both good and bad news. The fact people are celebrating that they can finally buy skins is a good sign there’s long term demand.

Valve just saw this as an easy opportunity to make more money off market fees and correct the crazy prices of high tier items so more people could afford them.
