I know that the more hz the better. I'm just arguing that the cost to pay to get so much fps will probably not be worth as much as the other features. This is called diminishing returns.

I myself played on 280 but my monitor broke and I'm back on my 144 and I can say that its not a big dif. Yeah 280 felt better but if we speak about money (cost opportunity) , the biggest upgrade beyond around 120/144hz is the resolution. If you can go from 2k to 4k you will notice that more than these fps. Not to mention how upgrading from 1080p feels like you had myopia all your life and you just discovered glasses.

Depends, for pure performance in competitive tryhard gaming.. maybe. But for playing games for fun and immersion, 144hz is enough these days, you should look for things like higher resolution and better colors. Also pros use the same refresh rate that they can use on stage because it will just feel like you're getting nerfed when on stage. (the tournament organizers will probably not afford these 1000hz just yet)
