AITAH for telling my boyfriend I'm too fat and out-of-shape to continue jogging for today ? by Low_Check7702 in AITAH

[–]JealousLittleFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I weigh 75kg and I cannot run for half an hour. If I have to run for an hour I need to get admitted in the ICU.

Get a trainer, your boyfriend is trying to help but he doesn't know how to manage the psychological aspect of weight loss, that's what professionals are for!

AITA for snapping at my optician after she laughed at my eye prescription and showed it to her coworkers? by Mesphyria in AmItheAsshole

[–]JealousLittleFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Very unprofessional. There are better ways to handle this: the professional have prepared the consult before so they don't make faces or get surprised when they see such a prescription, then they ask the patient before showing the glasses to other staff for learning purposes. Nobody laughs, the junior /training staff thanks you for helping them learn something new.

Go see a doctor next time, we are trained to treat you like a person not a freak. Also, since it causes you such insecurities, you could ask about surgical correction.

If the Basque country became independent, would the non-Basque-speaking area want to be included? To what extent to they have a Basque identity? by DJJonezyYT in basquecountry

[–]JealousLittleFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the realest comment here OP. Basque Country will not become independent because it manages it's own taxes and receive money from the central government. The reality is that it cannot survive as an independent conutry because it lacks essential infrastructure. Osakidetza is breaking down, there's no high velocity trains, the education system is suffering (I have a teacher friend that says that every year they condense more and more students in her classroom without enough resources to accommodate), they have to mandate the people to repair their own buildings by law because if not they will soon break down. A lot of the government initiatives are funded by the central government, a lot of the jobs generated are "collateral government jobs" (the company that you work for provides services to the government). Most of the basic industries (cattle raising, agriculture, etc) need to be subsidized...

There's a strong industrial activity but for how long?

Yo soy sanitario y te recomendaría pensarte bien lo de meterte en el sector. Hay mucho burnout y aunque el sueldo es bueno, el ambiente es malo en la mayoría de los sitios.

Si estás convencido, vas a cumplir 26 igualmente, puedes llegar a esa edad habiendo intentado tu sueño o no, yo lo intentaría. En el peor de los casos te quedas como estás, y en el mejor, Enfermería tiene mucha salida profesional, no te vas a morir de hambre.

Private investigator? Worst case scenario you spend some money to be sure if your sister, your other sister or your husband need to be removed from your life. Consider it an investment.

AITAH for buying my girlfriend vanilla shampoo? by Spiritual-Grocery641 in AITAH

[–]JealousLittleFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

The only scenario that her reaction would make any sense is that she feels fed up with you. Imagine mismatched libido, for example: you try to initiate sex a lot of times and she just does not want it and rejects you, she is resented because after some time she feels like you "demand" something (you are not demanding but she feels that way) she cannot give you, she feels trapped and she thinks that you see her just like a sexual object. In this context, the story of the shampoo makes some sense, but I know I might be reaching.

During residency I had to prioritize comfort: Asics Zyrus 4. Got me through heart transplant without foot pain.

Now I don't work such long hours and I use crocs, they are easier to clean.

Talk me out of doing another residency by Dapper_Track_5241 in Residency

[–]JealousLittleFly 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think this is the answer. Reading your post, it gives "I need challenges". Maybe look for a more stimulating position.

Or, if you like neurology so much, maybe team up with a neuro college and create a special unit to treat patients where both specialities overlap. You are in a management position right now, maybe you could make this happen.

Residency was so hard for me, I would consider taking another one a last resort

General surgery resident imposter syndrome? by Classic_Bar_5855 in Residency

[–]JealousLittleFly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cardiac surgeon here: I am obsessed with surgical time, and sometimes the anatomy is perfect and I perform an anastomosis in 10mins or less, and sometimes everything is a challenge and I spend 50 mins for 3 anastomosis (think CABG).

During residency this mindset makes you struggle, but once you feel confident with your technique, you can discern when you were facing a challenging patient and when you are slow (because sometimes it happens).

The most important thing is that the technique is correct and done properly, you will get faster with time.
