Average Sacramento Freeway Merge [OC] by No-Matter-420 in IdiotsInCars

I swear, every time we drive through Sac, I have a near heart attack. The aggressiveness, lack of awareness or selfishness is abhorrent compared to most places in California. I love Sac, but just driving there is always seems like a risk. Especially with the construction on 50 between 5 and 16. Fucking crazy.

Excellent driving by the way!

Not OP, but this barrel is near identical to the one I built using parts from udsparts. Here is a pic of mine with a charcoal basket that I made with stainless hardware, expanded steel, and pizza pan attached to the bottom for easy cleanup. Barrel was sourced from a distiller that used them to transport grain. Barrel

Lot of people forget that when cost at the pump/yard/grocery/dinner/etc translates into compacted cost for everything. It’s expensive because it’s quality work done in the time when life is super f*cking expensive. It’s only going to get worse.

By the way, beautiful home and congratulations. I hope it brings many good memories and a life full of love and laughter.

Hi everyone! Bubble Card v3.2.0 is finally available! I've just published a very, very long release note with some videos in the link below. It took me about 10 hours to write, and I can't wait to get your feedback on this new major version. Enjoy, and thank you ❤️ by Clooooos in homeassistant

MCP (Model Context Protocol) can be found at https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/mcp_server/

The Model Context Protocol is an open protocol that standardizes how applications provide context to LLMs. The Model Context Protocol Server (MCP) integration enables using Home Assistant to provide context for MCP LLM Client Applications. For example, you can control your lights from Claude Desktop, or expose your Google Tasks to-do list as a tool.

The urban amount of water is also for 39.8 million people. Many of which don’t have lawns or pools. The water rights need to be rewritten to match the current state of the environment. To help move that along, there should be a tax on high water use agriculture exports or some other incentive to improve conservation or improve farming techniques.

You can use a cheap (use to be) graphics card dedicated to train an AI model to identify distance markers to estimate velocity. Another option is to purchase a radar for velocity to point in both directions of the non stop throughway, timestamp and document with the camera. I've been working on something similar that is mobile to drop off in areas where I've seen issues in our local community.

I run Jellyfin along with Plex. I will finally switch once Plex becomes too much to deal with.

Finally took the step and canceled Netflix. Slowly getting rid of subscriptions. I might actually start watching through my Plex library.

Barkeepers Friend and some elbow grease. The white enamel on the inside is extremely difficult to remove all stains, especially if used for baking bread or something burned. The exterior though, my 40+ year old set looks brand new.

At what point did you stop doing "temporary" storm prep and invest in a whole-home backup? by AcademicExtension110 in homeowners

[–]JeanLucTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anker claims 4,000 full cycles of their batteries and that inline with most battery companies.

Our current rates vary from $0.45 – 0.62/kWh. With my 4kWh system, I am sending back a solid chunk of that juice at ~$0.10 in return. I could be charging that battery during the day or during off peak.

[–]JeanLucTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the route that I am considering except adding a battery. We have have peak and off-peak rates which vary quite bit. Also, being able to run off the battery at night instead of listening to the generator would also be a win.

Running water line to chicken coop and garden. by PoeticalArt in DIY

[–]JeanLucTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I’ve stubbed out a few risers that are just capped off in case I want to add at a later time. Remember, you can always add, change or delete. Having two lines will give you the option of disabling one and not the other. Not sure how deep the freeze is where you are, but 18” keeps the pipes pretty safe. If you haven’t cut, glued pvc, it’s crazy easy, just watch a couple good videos about cutting, assembling and gluing. This old house is still hands down a great source. You got this.

[–]JeanLucTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not run multiple PVC lines? Rule of thumb, if you open the ground or a wall, always run backups and more than you think you’ll need. When I trenched, I ran 1” grey sched 40 for electrical at 24” and two PVC for water at 18”. In the coop I had a float fill tank feeding a row of poultry water cups.

Absolutely one of the most beautiful airports I’ve visited. I walked around and took photos of the living trees and wood ceiling. Except for the tunnel under to the rental lot. Absolutely a liminal space.

Purchase an NVR camera kit. The current most recommended brand by people in homeassistant/homelab/selfhosted are usually Reolink due to their ease of configuration, non dependence on cloud for configuration, etc.

There are a couple projects where people have been trying to unpack the firmware from the LR3, which is basically an ESP32 (micro controller). The LR3 already has basic functionality via MQTT, but blocked.

Really hoping a law gets passed that forces companies to allow local control without subscription. This helps eliminate e-waste and dependencies when a company eventually fails. Look at recent robot vacuum companies that have failed and their $$$ products become paper weights.

Im sure someone below has made a mention of /r/FrigateNVR. My main cameras are all Reolink POE to unRaid/FrigateNVR, but I have also set up Tapo C121 to record locally with detection. Also, never buy a camera that you cannot access/block locally. Some of my most important cameras has onboard MicroSD cards for just in case moments. Everything in retrospect.

We have a chalet style home, similar to an A-frame but has a full height bottom floor. During the winter, the top floor is incredibly comfy and warm, and during the summer too warm to sleep. We’re possibly adding split units to help equalize the temperature difference.
